I called Edible when they opened at 9:00am to order an arrangement to be delivered to my daughter's work today.
The employee says, 'I'm sorry, the driver already left with all the deliveries.'
Before they opened-- see what they did there?
So, I ask, 'What time can you deliver today?'
She said 'between 5 and 6 tonight.'
I said "are you crazy? Everyone will be going home!"
Then, here it comes...
Wait for it....
'Well, sir that's why it's best not to wait till the last minute.'
I said "My daughter works less than a half mile from your store. Could you deliver it?"
Oh, no - that's not possible.
"Can I pay an expedite fee to get it delivered sooner?"
No.
Is there anything you can do to help? You must deal with this all the time in your business, right?
Well, sir we don't really guarantee a delivery time. If you read the information online on our website, you would know that already.
Terrible, terrible business practices. I don't care what it says on the website... I can't be the only one who is planning 'last minute' to deliver some goodies to a family member on their birthday.
Next time when I do think in advance, I'm going across the street to Wegmans, who was kind enough to offer to hand-deliver a sheet cake to my daughter's work themselves. I called at 9:15. They're making the cake and delivering it by noon. Oh, and it's cheaper!
