Edinburgh Christmas Market is spacious and lively, but it lacks some Christmas magic.
The market is undeniably roomy and full of energy, with many charming stalls that are well-stocked and enjoyable to browse. As always in Edinburgh at this time of year, there are plenty of people. It's become part of the tradition, almost as iconic as the mulled wine.
However, I have to say it didn't feel as Christmas-like as I expected. The funfair area, with its big rides and loud attractions, tends to overshadow the cozy, festive spirit that you usually seek in a Christmas market. The magic of Christmas isn't really found in thrill rides, and that part slightly ruined the atmosphere for me.
Prices are also quite high; nothing shocking for Edinburgh in December, but still noticeable.
Down in the gardens, it was nicer and quieter, yet even there, there weren't many attractions that truly focused on Christmas traditions.
Overall, it's a pleasant market to stroll through, full of life and good stalls. But if you're looking for pure Christmas charm, twinkling lights, and that warm festive feeling, you might find yourself wanting a bit more.
