One of my favourite places to take images as a wedding and events photographer! Staff are so friendly and their weddings are like a well oiled machine, so organised and attention to detail is unmatched!

A Touch of History in the Heart of Edinburgh The Edinburgh City Chambers is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. This magnificent building, boasting stunning historic architecture both inside and out, takes center stage in Edinburgh's vibrant city center. Stepping inside the chambers is a truly awe-inspiring experience. If you're fortunate enough to visit during a special event, you might even catch a glimpse of a celebrity. Whether you're an architecture buff or simply appreciate grand spaces steeped in history, the Edinburgh City Chambers is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Sister got married here on 9 October under very strict Covid conditions. Only 2 guests (13 is maximum), everyone masked, screens all over the place, social distancing in force. Even so, the staff did their very best to make it a special day. Beautiful flowers, lovely room, both the Registrar and her assistance were determined to give her a memorable occasion despite the extraordinary circumstances. Many thanks to all concerned and highly recommended as a wedding venue.

My Husband and I decided to have our legal wedding in Edinburgh before our main celebration abroad. We’re an international couple, so given our circumstances, there was a bit more paperwork and complexity when submitting our notice to marry. (Note: it was quite a bit more expensive too.) But, the team at the City Chambers was so helpful with our questions. In particular, I wanted to thank Jill and Kirsty for fielding our emails with patience. Once we arrived in Edinburgh, days before, they graciously gave us a tour of the space so we could get a better feel for the flow of the day. The venue has been beautifully renovated and purpose-built. I was really blown away. Overall, the space felt warm and welcoming. And the views from the Guest Lounge will wow your guests. The day of, though a bit rushed, was seamless thanks to Suzanne and Kyle. All in all, we’re really happy with our choice and we’d genuinely recommend the City Chambers for your wedding ceremony whether you’re looking for something modern, modest, or intimate. It still felt special and momentous without being overwhelming, stressful, or cost prohibitive. Also, importantly, our marriage license arrived promptly to our address abroad. The City Chambers is organized and empathetic. A win-win, really.

We visited the alexandra suite for our marriage today, it was wonderful. We had the most perfect registrar, who only wanted to make our day perfect. The suite was lovely, everything we needed. I would recommend to anyone.

We had a small legal paper signing here on Monday and the staff were incredible! Things are still a little tense and completely not the norm because of Coronavirus but staff made us feel totally at ease. We had the joy of working with Anne and Heather, fantastic ladies who made the ceremony fun and were just truly lovely people. Place is gorgeous and surrounded by beautiful urban scenery.

Yelp
This is a beautiful building on the Royal Mile. I could not tell if this was a historic site or just an office building since there was no signage. Turns out it is a sight to visit given that I found this listing on Yelp. Made for some outstanding pictures.

Yelp
Towards one end of a walking stretch of the Royal Mile sits the Edinburgh Council City Chambers. The grounds on Friday 5 July 2019 included flags of Scotland and Great Britain/the United Kingdom flying/blowing in the wind. It is a useful place for asking general logistical questions, even if just where to get more specific information on a visit or living in Edinburgh. Also helpful if one has general questions about residency and/or immigration that are not so specific that they might be better suited for an embassy. The building and statue out front of the main entrance are picture-worthy all on their own.

Yelp
Maybe stop preying on vulnerable adults harassment etc sending debt company's after autistic easily triggered people without any warnings harassing the vulnerable person's frail parents charging more than people actually owe you constantly demanding money people already have paid off maybe if you idiots actually were not bullies then that would help

Yelp
I love chandeliers and they have gorgeous one's here. It's interesting to see where the movers and shakers of the city are debating the stuff that affects us but I couldn't help thinking, maybe they were a bit dazzled by the blingy chandeliers when debating the debacle that has been the tram project... For Doors Open Day, it was great to have a peak around. Contemporary stainglass windows, big debating rooms, views over the city and also to make Caz H feel a bit at home, the Dunedin room - named after Dunedin in NZ which is twinned with Edinburgh. The room is all panelled in wood from NZ too. You do only get to see a few floors though - don't look down if you have vertigo as the building is on 9-10 levels and you probably access about 3 on DoD. Worth a peak, next time it is open to the public!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit here on 2 occasions. The City Chambers are usually booked for conferences and meetings. As a venue this is a great way of impressing visitors and delegates. To enter the main building you go past security. The carpeted stairs are something out of Harry Potter; big banisters you can slide from and they seemingly go on forever. They lead to many different rooms and doors There is glass in lead windows and big old historical paintings on the wall. Impressive. The main function room is the Council Chamber - that is close to the kitchen and provision of meals and buffet is done from here. It has views over Old and New Town Edinburgh. They provide a drop down screen for projections too. I guess a wedding reception here would do just nicely. I had the pleasure of attending an Bir Urquell tasting meal where the Czech brewers opened up vat after vat to accommodate us drinkers. We were served a 3 course meal on round tables for about 90 odd people - plenty of space. The service was really good and I enjoyed spending time here. The toilets are of the old Victorian Crapper variety. Lots of white tiles, spacious and acoustic - I did have quick go with a song & whistle and it sounded fabulous! :o) Some areas cannot be entered by wheelchairs, but they have ground floor spaces if this is the case. Smoking is permitted outside only, however they have very little to no ashtrays, smoke pots to use. This is available on the Royal Mile / High Street.

Yelp
The City Chambers in Edinburgh was a building that I was quite naive about until I visited it last year. From the Royal Mile, it does not really stand out, well it is very hard to with the amount of old historic buildings there. However, when one is inside or looking at the building from Princes Street Gardens, one can finally appreciate how splendidly large and dramatic this eighteenth building is. Inside, the building is huge, with many, many floors (note to self - must take elevator next time)! The many rooms facing out towards the New Town have brilliant views of the city and beyond. Not a bad place to work at all! Inside, the building also houses the grand debating chamber which has recently gone under some renovation. It is grand and has a public seating area for around fifty people. It even has a private room for councillors in the building with grand chairs, newspapers on offer and breakfast items available. An underappreciated building, but nether the less a great building.

Yelp
I attended a wedding here on Saturday and was quite impressed with the building. The inside is beautiful with big chandeliers (like the last reviewer highlighted). It was quite a nice (non-religious) venue for a wedding and I know a few people who have tied a knot here! It is a very classy location and it was nice to see inside such a historic building.
