14 Off-the-Beaten-Path Things to See in Paris (Updated 2025)

"Tucked into a little apartment in the Ménilmontant district, the tiny museum dedicated to Édith Piaf gave me a genuine glimpse into her life through gold and platinum records, photographs, clothing, letters from fans, posters, recordings, and sheet music; admission is free but you need to make an appointment." - Matthew Kepnes

This is a private and intimate museum, please book an appointment to avoid disappointment. If you do not speak French it would be best to arrange an interpreter. Only for true Edith Piaf fans, this museum showcases authentic memorabilia that brings one close to the little Sparrow of Paris. This museum captures what Edith Piaf was all about and why people loved so much.

The owner tried to do inappropriate things with my best friend without his consent. Please read below. We had to publish this again cause google erased it because of the policies. “Visiting this museum was a dream for me, because I deeply admire Édith Piaf. The collection is beautiful and very touching, I could really feel her presence through the objects. However, I feel it’s important to share that my personal experience during the visit was uncomfortable due to the behavior of the person who receives visitors. I prefer not to give details here, but I want to say that I felt unsafe and unwelcome. I believe this is something future visitors, especially members of the LGBTIQ+ community, should be aware of, since for many of us this museum is not just another stop in Paris, but a very meaningful place. It’s sad for me to write this, because I truly love Édith Piaf, but I hope sharing my experience helps others know what to expect.” Don’t go to this place, specially if you are young and alone.

It was a fun adventure to find the place and to get in there (I had to ask a stranger on the street to call for me and make an appointment because the owner speaks only French). Entrance 10EUR, he asks to wear a mask. I guess it would be more interesting if I could talk to this person - maybe I would get some explanations:) The collection is nice and cute but no evidence that Edith Piaf really lived in this apartment. I would give more stars but I think it is not fair that only half of the apartment can be visited (and it is a very small part) and visitors are not allowed to use the toilet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Google
Completely not worth visiting. On the site it is written that it's free, but the guy wants 5€ per person. The "museum" is just two rooms filled with Edith Piaf stuff. The guy doesn't or barely speaks English, so if you don't speak French don't even bother to interact with him. Visit there takes literally 5 minutes. The only way to book the tickets is to call the guy on the phone, wish you luck when you're a non speaking French foreigner with a foreign number. What's more, the guy requires wearing a mask, although there are almost no mask restrictions in the country, so throughout the "sightseeing" you suffocate yourself, because it's awfully stuffy there. You cannot even take a single photo and when asked about it he responded in super rude way that "it's not a museum". Completely not worth going!!!

Have you ever thought about the terrible state of Edith Piaf's estate? Does she deserve this "museum" only? Full of fake items!!! It is falsely claimed that Piaf lived in this apartment - nonsense. It is unbelievable that the media does not notice all these... but I am glad to see that most of the reviewers are not blind!

Google
Just to see where she lived. Could not communicate with the occupant over language differences

Just 2 tiny rooms in a flat with a few posters and stuffs. The entry costs 10 euros per person without any receipt (only cash payment). No photos allowed. If you're a real fan, please don't waste your money there. Édith would be disappointed.

Google
The owner is disgusting, he asked me inapropiate questions through google translate (since he doesn't speak any english). After that I asked for a refund and he didn’t want to give me the money back, Really sad experience for a great singer. Edit: Maps removed my review for offensive language, so im publishing it again (this happened on february 2024). If you are alone and you are young, please take care of yourself.

Yelp
I had read that the Musée Édith Piaf was one of the most underrated, must-see museums in all of Paris. A huge fan of Ms Piaf's music and always up for an adventure and a museum, I was majorly excited for this place. And then we got there. Musée Édith Piaf is actually a small apartment full of Edith memorabilia. She lived in this very apartment, which is cool and exciting, but only two rooms are dedicated to her legacy an, quite honestly, they aren't nearly as impressive, grand, or special as this lady deserves. They're full of photos, clothing and knick-knacks you can peruse whilst listening to Edith's music blaring over a sound system, but that's about it. The apartment building it's in is still residential, so it's nice to get a glimpse of real Parisian life while you're here and in the neighborhood. I'm glad we went, and while I wasn't blown away by the collection, it was fun and a pretty memorable experience.

Yelp
Having seen the grave in the cemetry i visited the museum for more information on ths singing legend. I wa not dissapointed. This museum was founded in 1967 by fans. It is just a small apartment crammed with photographs, portraits and letters. They willplay records on request and it is a lovely tribute to this little sparrow
