Yelp
Australia is known for its coffee which for coffee addicts like me and my husband, is such a win. We went around Sydney just checking out coffee shops and 9/10, the coffee was excellent.
So we found ourselves at Edition Coffee Roasters in the Darling Square neighborhood one morning, a quick walk from our hotel. Edition Coffee Roasters is a Japanese and Scandinavian fusion cafe, both in terms of interior design and food. I adore the dark polished concrete, exposed beams, and naked wood design. I love the horigotatsu style seating area. Functional and aesthetic.
The menu is incredibly innovative and experimental, with a nice blend of Japanese and Nordic dishes. Danish rye butter and seasonal jams, miso banana bread with yuzu curd, pork katsu burger, chirashizushi, udon with bacon dashi, yuzu compressed melons, coffee crusted Black Angus short rib, soufflé pancake - just to name a few.
We ordered the udon with bacon dashi, onsen egg, and pork crackling and the Japanese soufflé pancake with pistachio cream, elderflower poached rhubarb, and raspberry crumb. The fluffy soufflé pancake takes a minimum of 20 minutes to make, but it's well worth the time.
Coffee wise, Edition Coffee Roasters embraces omni roasting in order to showcase every bean's character. The coffee is excellent. If you're not a fan of coffee (GASP), they have tea, cold-pressed juices, cold drinks like blueberry and elderflower soda and yuzu soda, beer, wine, and even sake.
Delicious food, amazing coffee, fantastic service, and beautiful ambiance.
