Had a great time at the Edmonton Zoo! The Zoo is very well kept, clean and landscaping was nice. Total walk time to see everything was around 2 hours or so… I would have given them 5 stars if they had more animals.

We visited the Edmonton Zoo on Easter Sunday and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. The zoo closed at 4 PM, but we arrived shortly after 2 PM and were not informed that there was only 1.5 hours left to explore. With kids, this made it nearly impossible to see everything. What was most upsetting is that there were barely any animals to see. One elephant, a lonely and sad-looking monkey, a few goats, one pig, a couple of zebras, and maybe—if you’re lucky—one lynx and a house cat. Most of the enclosures were empty, and inside the buildings, there was often only one small animal per large cage, if any at all. Compared to our visit five years ago, it’s clear things have really gone downhill. The overall condition of the zoo was also disappointing. Dirty glass on the sea animal enclosures made it hard to see anything, and leftover gravel from the snow created slipping hazards for the kids. The entire space felt neglected and uninspired. It’s heartbreaking to see so little care being put into a place meant to inspire love for animals. I truly hope the city finds someone passionate to invest in improving the zoo—not only by bringing in more animals, but also by creating better, more natural environments where animals can thrive and even reproduce. Compared to the Calgary Zoo, which always delivers a “wow” experience with its variety, thoughtful design, and visible care for the animals, Edmonton’s zoo falls sadly short. Would not recommend visiting in its current state. Save your money and your time.

Although this was a lackluster experience. It's still nice we have a zoo to take the kids to. I love animals and creatures ! We want them to learn about them and view them. Although it's old, outdated, and not much to see.. it's still nice Edmonton has a Zoo. Windows In the enclosures are dirty, most animals not available , or the inclosures/exhibits closed or empty. Not a whole lot to see aside from a zebra, wolves and sheep.. You should visit. However do not compare this to zoo's like those in the US.

Had a wonderful experience at the Edmonton Valley Zoo! My friends and I spent 2.5 hours exploring and enjoying everything it had to offer. It’s a great outing idea for families or friends. The best part was how educational it was—they did a great job raising awareness about the current status of the animals.

We had a great time at the zoo. The animals are well cared for considering their age. The zoo does work assisting in re-populating some endangered species and educating the public about wild animals.

75% of the animal exhibits were either empty or not visible…if there was an animal there was only one, the monkey looked sad and lonely. Good luck trying to see the elephant, she only comes out at unknown times because the elephant is retired. They had snow leopard and tiger were cool to see and they had plenty of meerkats. The landscape was nice to walk around but could have used a little better signage.

I like this zoo, it is really big and have a lot of specious of animals. We saw zebras, camel, elephant, snakes, takins and a lot of other animals. One of the disadvantages was the fact that some enclosures were empty and we didn’t have an opportunity to enjoy full list of animals, for example we didn’t see tiger, wolfs, bears and red pandas which was really sad. But overall really good place to spend time with family or have a date with your couple.

The kids loved the zoo, there was a little train near the camels, a carousel and places to get mini donuts, ice cream and food. Before you enter the zoo there’s a water spray animal so make sure you bring extra clothes for the kids. A little disappointed there was no playground in the zoo, but there is one outside of the zoo. Would recommend, was a nice day out with the kids.
