The staff were all kind to me and the service was good, but the haircut turned out completely different than discussed. I showed reference photos medium cut with layers that start at the mid-face. My bangs were already at the length I wanted (eyebrow) and I didn’t want them shorter. They said they would just add some face framing pieces around it to blend them in. But they cut my bangs so that the middle piece is longer than the pieces above my eyes because they thought it was cute but I’m furious because that wasn’t what I wanted??? The top layers are even shorter than my bangs and add too much volume on top. If I try to blow dry or style it just looks poofy. Then they started adding powder and texturizing products while styling and I had to stop them because I started hating the way I looked. So then we washed the products off to try to lighten the volume and it didn’t really help. I get that this is a look some people want but I did not want it. At this point my stomach was turning and I showed them the reference photo again, pointed out the differences and at least they were very apologetic and saw where they went wrong. I wanted to do something nice for myself because my birthday is next week and now I plan to wear a hat everyday for the next month. I think they’re definitely skilled and can do a mean traditional wolf cut, but it feels like they’re so used to doing the same cut that they forget about the client’s actual needs. If you get a cut here, PLEASE make your wants crystal clear and SPEAK UP during the cut. Specify exactly where you want your layers to start and how long you want your bangs to be. This place is too expensive to be getting a haircut you never wanted.

I am EXTREMELY upset and disappointed with the service at Edo Salon. I booked with a stylist to get a long layered trim, and just to add some additional face framing pieces. The stylist completely botched my hair, and thinned out my very THICK, COARSE hair without my permission. The photons I provided her for reference were completely ignored, and I am so disappointed in the current state of my hair. The stylist did not even style my hair after the haircut, and she let my hair air dry, making it extremely frizzy. To top it off, I practically had to beg for a refund. Kiera, the salon owner seemed empathetic for my experience, but it was unfortunate it had to get to that point in the first place. Please save yourself a headache and never go here.

I went here for a free curly cut like 2mos ago and it was not a good experience. Even with help from the instructor my haircut turned out several different lengths, *much* shorter than I requested, and just generally not what I wanted at all. My hair is still recovering and it’s very frustrating. It’s impacted my confidence and ability to style. If this salon advertises curly cuts, I think it’s their responsibility to make sure all stylists, including those in training, know how to care for coily, curly, and textured hair. Mind you I have 3b/3c hair. This is not a salon I recommend for Black folks, or those with textured hair beyond a soft wave. I’ve included before and after pics below.

I never write bad reviews! But have been so upset all day. I have long, slightly wavy hair. I asked for a trim and to bring out my wave a bit, and to shorten my bangs. I specified asked for NOT A SHAG cut. The stylist cut probably six inches off of my hair and gave me a shag cut, with extremely short layers all over my head. When she asked me if i liked it and i said no, it felt like all the other hairdressers turned towards me and were listening as if it were a television show. The stylist then told me i probably just didn’t know what i wanted. I am not super precious about my hair— it grows. But this cut will probably take years to grow back the length and the cut that I had wanted. I looked at the instagram and it seems like the long shag cut is basically the only cut that this salon gives.

I have been trying to find a stylist who can work with my dense, pin straight hair for a while. I usually have to go out of town or even out of country to get my hair cut properly. I also have a cowlick near my bangs that kind of is my personal enemy. I booked an appointment with Jasiel after meeting another woman at a shop and asked her where she had gotten her haircut from. I checked out her work and it really aligned with who I was looking for to cut my hair into a pixie. When I walked into the salon, the woman at the front desk was so sweet checking me in. The salon had such a fun aura and beautiful natural light. Jasiel, you gave me the best haircut I have ever gotten. Her attention to detail, expertise, and patience is phenomenal. She took my vision and made it 100x better. She even taught me how to style my stubborn hair. It’s been almost a week and I will say my confidence has been sky high. Thank you Jasiel and thank you Edo!

Loved Jayne’s Instagram, so traveled from the deep East Bay for a rare Saturday appointment, having spent a significant amount of time uploading images ahead of my session. Got there to discover I was supposed to book two sessions, one for the cut and one for the color, although nobody actually told me that. So I had the color, which was fine but lopsided, and then had to spend hours of my Saturday frantically trying to find an open appointment for the cut. So wearingly disappointing.

I paid nearly $300 for what was supposed to be a quick trim. The stylist started 15 minutes late in a strict one-hour slot because she was having her own hair cut in the salon — in clear view of me waiting. Despite my checking in, no one prompted her to begin my appointment. The appointment was then cut short by about 25%, and my hair wasn’t even dried, yet I was still charged in full. To add insult to injury… this was truly the worst haircut of my life, and I am extremely low-maintenance with my hair. I asked for about an inch off; she took nearly three, completely changing the shape. A month later, it still hasn’t grown out enough for me to feel comfortable wearing it down. I reached out afterward and was told a manager would follow up, but no one ever contacted me. For a salon charging this much, the lack of professionalism and accountability was extremely disappointing. Given it's a local neighborhood spot, I wanted to love it. But being completely ignored after such a bad experience was really telling. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this salon. EDIT to add — After my review was posted, the salon reached out within a couple of hours (after not responding to my original email for over a month). They offered a complimentary product and asked for photos of my haircut vs. my reference photo. I sent everything they requested and explained that I didn’t want product — I wanted a refund, since the service time was shortened, the cut wasn’t what I asked for, and I left extremely upset. They told me they would discuss it with the owner and follow up. That was two weeks ago, and I haven’t heard anything since. So unfortunately, they’ve now ghosted me twice. It has now been two months since the haircut, and I’m still unable to put it up and still embarrassed to wear it down. Really disappointing experience all around.

I am one of those people that has a hard time getting their hair cut. I often feel unheard by my stylist when I try someone new. Chri was so patient and kind with me. She made me feel completely at ease. I tend to like a classic cut. She gave me exactly what I wanted and made recommendations for things I’d like to try with her in the future. My hair is the type that shows where it’s cut and she knew exactly how to blend her work. The salon itself is light and airy, a truly relaxing environment. The staff was lovely. It’s the best feeling to love your hair after a visit to the stylist and I love my hair.

Unliiiiimited....together we're, unliiiiimited...together we'll be the greatest team there's ever b.. Ok if you haven't watched Wicked, 1) why and 2) why (with more judgement) But anyway that's what I felt like singing after getting a haircut from Jasiel. As long as I have her by my side, I can accomplish anything!! Well maybe not anything but at least I'll look cute trying. I've already come back for a bang trim and ladies when I tell you the bangs are bangin!! Ok I've already quoted 2 songs, a 3rd and I lose you so just believe me Jasiel and the gang at Edo know what they're doing. They be cutting hair sans scissors and Harry Pottering w/a razor and it's just so highly skilled and mind blowing and worth every penny. Check out their IG's and be mesmerized and book that appt! Had the worst possible haircut. I can't believe I paid $$$. The layers were cut very poorly. I'll have to get my haircut redone in NYC. I honestly wish I liked the place since it so close to home. I think the difference is that my friend gets her hair done by the main senior stylist and I went with someone less experienced, but paid the same price. My recommendation would be to go with someone with more experience.

Jasiel is an absolute doll and master at her craft. I'm a pretty shy person, but she made me feel so comfortable. I got a shaggy mullet and it turned out so beautifully and exactly what I wanted! Amazing wash service by J ; she had me damn near falling asleep with the massage & wash. Overall vibe of the salon was so peaceful and positive, I had a great experience ! Def worth the funds if you're looking to change your look

Edo is such an amazing spot. The vibe and decor feel really warm and welcoming! But what really took it to the next level was booking my haircut with Cody. He listened to every thing I asked for and truly gave me the haircut of my dreams. Trust me you want to book with Cody!

Saw Soso in Oakland and got a bomb haircut. I had a pixie/buzz cut for 20 years and for the first time in my adult life grew my hair out long enough to do something interesting with it. I was kinda terrified to get it cut, but they got exactly what I wanted. I later took a reference photo of that cut to another salon closer to me, and they couldn't match it. Immediately booked an appt with Soso to fix it. It's worth the hour drive.

Warning for those who have straight pin hair that is fine!!!!!! Customer service was great the problem was that one of the junior stylist butcher my hair. I explained how I wanted it. I showed some inspiration from Pinterest. I I express that if removing too much hair, my fine thin hair will look horrible. Clearly, she never worked with my type of hair probably only textured hair. She tried to convince me that I have texture hair. When I ask her how many years experience she had while she was cutting my hair she couldn't answer. It took her like 30 seconds and said when I was in high school. I don't know if she was embarrassed to say she a year or so of experience.

Kat was so great! I appreciated her being very straight forward in the beginning so that I had a very clear idea of what I wanted and that I was satisfied in everything I was hoping for- from shape to length. The consolation was very helpful- and clear communication is super beneficial. She gave me a lot of styling tips for my hair type and lifestyle. The studio is beautiful. Tea and water available while you wait.

Katy rose has consistently given me the best haircuts of my life, hands down. I have long, thick, very wavy hair and the interior layers she snips away give me volume like I've never had, and my hair has never looked healthier. Gives great product and styling recommendations - a five star stylist. Expensive, but only slightly more expensive than what I expect in SF. I'm deducting a star for customer service. When making an appt several months ago, I was sick at home trying to make an appt for the next week. When I woke up in the AM, I realized I had accidentally made it for the next day. I apologized, attempted to reschedule, but they told me that they had no choice (???) but to charge me the full price, $175. I completely understand that hair stylists are independent contractors who should be paid in the event of last minute cancellations, but this was a reservation made less than 12 hours prior. I offered to come in feeling ill after taking a negative Covid test, but they then didn't respond to my texts (they don't pick up the phone) for several hours and said the schedule was now too full for me. They eventually said they would refund me provided I re scheduled with her soon, but never issued that refund.

Edo is the best salon! My haircut from Kat changed my life- the style is perfect and maintenance is effortless! Love how their stylists educate you on how to maintain your haircut and recommend amazing products. Big fan of the whole Edo team and highly recommend Kat.

Jasiel did an amazing job with my hair. I have never had a stylist see what needed to be done using their eye and expertise and have it actually end up feeling and looking good. I have now been getting regular haircuts from Jasiel. I never thought I'd find a stylist who I'd continue seeing. 10/10 experience and satisfaction and Jasiel is just a joy to be around which is simply a bonus! Edo salon also just has a great interior design and great music making for an enjoyable salon experience.

This was my FIRST cut at Edo and I had the BEST cut with Jasiel last week. She was an amazing listener, kind, and even helped me when i was indecisive on length to cut. She was incredibly knowledgeable, and took her time with my hair. I really appreicate that she was exceptional with the razor too because I had a tramatic shag cut 7 years ago and stayed away from razors ever since. I let Jasiel know and she offered to cut with sheers, but I trusted her with the razor and she did not disappoint! Her open communication, re-assurance, and confirmation on my cut before cutting was 10/10. My hair feels lighter but with much more volume and body. Would highly recommend her for cuts of any kind! I'll definitely be going back.

My old stylist recommended Edo to me when I moved to the city and needed a place that could handle my curls. I've been rocking the curly shag and they specialize in edgy textured cuts so this was the perfect choice. Jasiel, who is super sweet, is my new go-to stylist for both cut and color. She has done an amazing job taking me back to blonde while keeping the integrity of my hair texture. I also saw Cody for a quick bang trim last year and he did it perfectly to keep my style looking fresh. I highly recommend either of them!

I visited Edo recently to get a haircut from Cody. I've been trying to grow my wavy hair out for a few months. It was looking a mess and I knew I needed help. Cody was beyond incredible. He actually took the time to listen to what I wanted when I said I wanted a cut that would grow out well, but also needed some life right now. He shaped me up, spent a lot of time on the details, and asked questions as he went to include me in the process. I also got a great wash and rinse, including a little massage, and a flawless style when he was done. I left looking and feeling amazing. The shop itself was so serene and gorgeous, and smelled incredible. I also got some great new organic hair care products that have been keeping me looking my best. I'll definitely be going back to Cody when it's time for my next cut. 10 out of 10 recommend Cody and Edo.

Best haircut I've ever had! I had gotten a botched shag at a different salon and came here hoping someone could work a miracle and fix it, and Jasiel did exactly that! They got me in with an appointment very quickly which I was grateful for. Happy I found my new stylist and love my cut :)

Made an appointment for my eighteen year old daughter with very curly hair. Completely picked out the stylist from her instagram page. We had to have someone that had worked with curly hair before. Katy Rose went above and beyond with my daughter, took the time and showed her how to do her hair herself, recommended products for such curly hair and how to apply them. And really just made her feel very comfortable. It was a great visit and I really appreciate her.

Yayyyyyyy, after years of searching for a hair stylist that gets my vibe and hair texture, I found her! Kat Mueller is the sweetest, most attentive and reassuring stylist and she gave me exactly what I've been wanting. Definitely coming back!!!

I wrote a review earlier and then deleted it. My experience there was fine but I got a haircut that I really don't like. I just think it looks bad tbh. I wish I had waited and gone to my regular stylist at my usual salon instead. The stylist posted me (after the haircut) on their Instagram and proceeded to later delete the picture. It sent me into a spiral of feeling bad about myself and kind of validated that the haircut wasn't that cute. It feels embarrassing. I'm sensitive to that kind of thing. I'm not planning on coming back.

Had a great experience at Edo with Cody - this was my first time at the salon! He's a consummate professional and did a fabulous job coloring my hair. The salon has a fun, friendly welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Rude and unprofessional! My hair color did not turn out the way I wanted/ the way the photo I brought in looked, so my colorist sent me home with a colored conditioner dye to use. It did not work after trying it twice and when I brought this to her attention via text (there is no phone number at EDO which is also very frustrating) she did not reply. 5 days went by and nothing. So I texted the salon itself and the response was that they CANCELED all of my upcoming appointments (I get roots done and blonde highlights and have to book WAY advance to get my colorist. So I had booked many appointments.) No phone call. No discussion. Just a thoughtless and rude action of canceling all of my upcoming appointments that I had booked for the next 6 months. Instead of discussing options, let alone taking responsibility and correcting the mistake, they just decided to bail! And they recommended another colorist within their salon. Sorry but NO! I will NOT be returning to EDO. I was a longtime customer too. And have had frustrations with their colorists in the past as it seems to be hit or miss on whether the color looks right or not, but I stuck with it and was patient because they are one of the only salons that does healthier color/less toxic dyes. I've already booked with a new salon and I will never return to Edo. This is NOT how your treat your customers. I didn't demand my money back. I didn't demand she fix my hair immediately. I made ZERO demands. And this was the response???? No thank you. Good bye! R U D E !!!!!! Parking is terrible anyway so I'm ultimately going to be thrilled to give my business to a new salon.

I love the method and styling of this salon. I've been going for about 2 years now and I feel like they cut "your" hair. Meaning they cut your hair to bring out its natural beauty, curl, texture. I only have to get a cut every 3-4 months, not every 6 weeks. I go to Chri, who is Jayne's biz partner. I always get compliments. I'm hooked!

Wow! I have been on the lookout for a salon for eons. And, I guess my search has come to an end. The atmosphere was lovely and the vibes were immaculate. Emily was pleasant and I feel that I clicked with her right away. She made me feel comfortable and cared for. With one look at a Pinterest video, she executed the look spot on. She also helped explain the ways to style my hair and I got to say, I feel great! My family and friends love my hair. Funny enough, I got my mom hooked and now she's booked with Emily in May! She can't wait Thanks again, Edo! But, a special thanks to Emily!!!

Came in asking for a root smudge to blend my roots into my dyed blonde lower layers. Paid over $300 for foil highlights and a reverse balayage, after specifically stating I did *not* want bleach or highlights. The stylist insisted the only way to blend my roots into my already dyed/highlighted lower layers was through "gentle highlights." I gave in, assuming she was the expert and my hair would be ok even though I 100% did not want any bleach in my hair...nope! She f*cked my hair up. She also did NOT tell me she was going to bleach the rest of my hair after putting in foil highlights. I should've just left. End result : my hair has been bleached into a spongy, breaking off at mid-length mess, and I have roots/highlights that look like...this. Customers beware: if your stylist insists that they absolutely HAVE to do something you don't want them to do, to achieve the look you want, get up and leave.

this salon had fantastic vibes and everyone in there is very kind and stylish. Every time I go in my hairstylist jasiel is super sweet and welcoming, not to mention her superhuman ability to style and shape hair. She is truly wonderful and the whole experience is lovely.

I have nothing but great things to say. This has been my first professional haircut in all my years alive, and can absolutely say I will not go anywhere else from now on. The salon was clean, airy, and intimate, and the staff was friendly and kind. My stylist, Cody, did a PHENOMENAL job giving me exactly the cut I was looking for, and gave my hair the refresh it absolutely needed. Don't hesitate, book your appointment!

The owner is very rude and self centered. Gave no personal experience to me. Didnt listen and cut me off when I talked because she seemed annoyed by me and everything around her. She looked for excuses to leave the chair to talk to employees in conversation, that seems like topics that could wait till after my cut. The employees seemed annoyed and scared of her. This happened a couple times. I was thinking about getting up and leaving but thought, "lets just do this already so I can leave." I just sat there in silence since I wasnt cool enough to talk to Jane. She didnt even greet me on the way out. Just disappeared after. Wasnt sure that we were even finished till she sent a fearful employee out to let me know it was time. She left a lot of cut hairs on me. I later read that she thinks shes the kind of "artist" that can gain fame by treating people like that and that made me laugh. My haircut wasnt even worth it. She cuts everyone's hair the same.

One day I realized that all the cute razor-cut bobs I'd been pinning to my Pinterest board were all from the same salon: Edo SF, not far from where I live on the Peninsula. I booked an appointment by "first available" and got paired with stylist Cody. They really took the time to ask me what I wanted, what my lifestyle is like, how I normally did my hair, what products and styling tools I used (or didn't want to use), etc. The wash and cut and blow dry took a really long time, almost 2 hours, but I love the results. I have thin, curly/wavy hair and I'm always trying to inject body into it, and the razor cut made a huge difference in the way my hair lays, it's much fuller and healthier looking. It's almost two months grown out and I'm still getting compliments on it, and when I do, I say that it was the most expensive and best haircut experience I've ever had. Absolutely worth the money.

Let me start off with I've seen they're Instagram and I know two people who go here and they get great haircuts. I went to the Oakland location to get my haircut in February. (Yes I should've spoke up at the time and made my review sooner) I asked for a bob and they played with my hair and asked how I felt about chin length. I said it was totally fine, I've had my hair that short on multiple occasions before so it wasn't drastic. We proceeded with the haircut and they start shaving the back of my head with a razor which was not communicated to me. I immediately got kind of worried but I told myself to trust the process. The haircut finishes, I paid, tipped because that's just what I usually do. I get home and I'm feeling my hair and I'm just in disbelief that the back of my head was shaved with 0 communication. It wasn't even necessary to shave the back because the hair length wasn't shorter than my hairline. I spoke with my hairstylist friend who lives in a different state since she knows my hair and to figure out why that may have been done. She said since I have a lot of hair and was getting a bob, it was essentially a lazy way of removing weight from my hair and that it was probably going to grow out badly. Lo and behold, it's been 3 months and it's growing out badly because no real weight was removed by thinning out the hair so I have all my volume sitting at the bottom and most importantly the part that was shaved is now growing out but it's significantly shorter than the rest of my hair. I cried multiple times because of this haircut and I still get sad about my hair 3 months later. especially considering that I dished out for such an expensive haircut ($165).

Went in for color, after lengthy research, post pandemic. Such a disappointment-exorbitant cost, hours of time, and hideous results, despite painstakingly clear communication re: the particular characteristics of my hair. I sat in the chair bidden to be still at length, in awkward positions. For a simple, minimal "lift" of color, I spent three hours. Colorist left to be on her phoned at length, multiple times, despite my advising her that my hair lightened in record time-mere minutes. The cost, a whopping $400. The result, a brittle platinum, with dark roots, some sort of orange transition, and dry ends of yet a different blond. The technician cared so little for the customer in this instance, it was shocking and appalling.

Rhoda. Rhoda. Rhoda. Rhoda. Rhoda. All five stars to Rhoda. She is the best listener ... which results in the BEST hair. :) (I've had other hair dressers do whatever they wanted lol - not at Edo - and that's not always great...) Rhoda TAKES TIME to know your hair wishes + history and gets you there not necessarily in one quick session that ruins your hair but over a few sessions to keep your hair healthy and happy. She really CAREs if I'm happy with my hair. :))))) (whereas other salons can feel like a factory of 800 clients where they don't remember my goals).

I've never felt more comfortable at a salon! the stylist really listen to what you want and make it happen. i also love the honesty and input they suggest, which 9/10 i usually go with what they say is best. they have made my shag hairdo dreams come true as well as bangs! this salon is the best place for bangs, shags and mullets!

Oh well, ya girl has been ooo lately but we're back. And wowow I love all the stylists here! Blair (despite moving to LA), Rho, and Ellie all do such a wonderful job with a stubborn head of hair like mine. TL:DR we're still working towards the perfect blond but along the way I've had so many wonderful shades and styles. Love the shag cuts they do but also the grow out is stunning. Rho is the sweetest and most kind person ever and I've been lucky to have her style my hair! She even pops out and grabs me coffee and a pastry while the dye is developing. Honestly a wonderful space, kind people, and top quality cuts and colour. Adore this wonderful salon!

I will never have my hair cut anywhere again!! My experience here was one of the best I have had in a salon. Rhoda cut and styled my hair hair and it has never looked better! She listened to all of my fears and concerns and made them resolve with her warmth and expertise. I wasn't sure who to see, and their manager Lily helped me find the stylist who best suited my needs. Both lily and Rhoda thought went through how to manage my curly hair and how to recreate the beautiful styling I walked out with. A beautiful space, wonderful staff, and while the price was a bit more than what I am used to paying, it was worth every cent. I couldn't recommend this salon more if you are looking for a new salon home!

The Edo Salon in Oakland was my best haircut experience, ever. With COVID it had been nearly a year since a haircut, or even much personal contact. The appointment was convenient, and I accepted the stylist without knowing anything about her. The salon is lovely, Artsy, light, and breathable! And I trusted their COVID precautions. They get tested frequently. Lindsey was my stylist. First, she is so lovely. Very graceful and lovely. Being in her presence was peaceful. And she was not afraid to cut my hair! My hair was long, and lots of it, but I wanted a change, Lindsey took charge. Being normally very controlling around my hair, I would never have directed her to do what she then did: She sculpted every angle of my hair. She took off layers and layers. I just sat there and enjoyed being the material for her masterpiece. It felt like old patterns and difficulties were dropping from my head, as the locks fell to the floor around us. I was amazed at how much artistry she was putting into my hair! I could hardly wait to tossle it! Then, when it was done, I was surprised to find: I still had long hair! But it is shaped! Spunky, fun! Lively! I felt like a rockstar! Posted it and received compliments. And I enjoy it every day now. That was the most I have ever paid for a haircut, and, you know, it felt awesome to pay that much! I have been stingy with myself for a long time. This was a freedom. I bought hair products too and am enjoying them. My hair grows fast, but I think this new shape is going to last really well as it grows out. When it is ready though, I am happy to return to Lindsey at Oakland's Edo Salon!

I won't say which senior stylist here totally botched my dye job today, but I came in with light blonde hair with 6 weeks worth of my medium brown roots and asked for a dark blonde and showed a few digital photos. The first two times my stylist applied the "organic dye", it wouldn't take to my hair apparently. My hair was not damaged. Even when my hair has been extremely damaged in the past, I have had no problem getting demi permanent dye to take. For the third attempt, she mixed up something darker, which took. Too well. Because the multiple attempts put us behind schedule, my stylist had her assistant wash out the dye and blow dry my hair. Once I got to the chair to dry my hair and saw my reflection I was concerned given how dark it was. I asked the assistant how light she thought it would get during drying, since wet hair looks darker. She noted when she had fully dried a section of my hair, and I started silently crying because it was so not what I asked for. When the stylist came over, she assured me it wasn't that bad because it would wash out over time. She offered to correct it right then and there but honestly my scalp hurt from the multiple washings and corrections and we had started late and ran long and I just wanted to GTFO. My stylist kindly did not charge me for this mistake (why I am giving two stars instead of one), which has left me with hair I do not like four days before my birthday. I appreciate that my stylist offered to correct this on another day and was trying to work with me, but because it was so far off and she questioned my assessment of my hair's value (level), I am going to figure out an alternative. I thoroughly enjoyed my haircut experience with Kat Mueller, they were super receptive to the vibe I was going for and my hair has grown out beautifully! We chatted about Zelda & overall I had a great time, definitely coming back in the future.

For Christmas I asked my boyfriend for one thing- a haircut from Casey (IG- gayhairday) at Edo Salon. We're off to the UK in 2 weeks, so it was time for a haircut. My appointment was Saturday, Feb 22 at 12, at the Oakland location. Parking was a nightmare, but I was able to make it on time, but only just. Casey looked at the photos I brought, listened to worries I had, like having to put my hair up for work, and my opinions about keeping length/bangs/whispies around my ears. They were super welcoming, helpful, and calmed my nerves about the new cut. Nobody had touched my hair in 2 years, and my cut had all grown out the same length and was really just super boring (I'll include a before and after in the pix). Casey washed my hair, and was nice enough not to mind that I turned her hands blue. They walked me through the entire haircut, from the look they were going for, to how to care for the cut down the road, and any products they used. On top of all the education, we found some time to chat about similar experiences in very different working environments. It was a really great time. I ended up with the shaggy mullet of my dreams, and I cannot recommend Casey enough. I'm very glad I dove in and gave them full artistic freedom, because I've never loved a haircut more in my life. Thank you Casey!

Edo Salon is well worth the $. The staff are warm and interesting, giving expert advise and making a comfortable setting. They pay so much attention to the uniqueness of your hair and do incredible cuts. The whole experience is lovely in their art gallery salon and it feels so much more welcoming than many other salons. I have loved all my haircuts here from Chri, Rhoda, and Katy! As a low maintenance hair person they give me great advice to make an easy style and even the growing out process between cuts I've been impressed and into my hair.

Don't ask questions, just book Rhoda to do your hair and it will come out perfectly exactly how you wanted it but... better?! Wow, I love my cut so so much. Never going to anyone else.

I have only been to the Oakland location, but the Edo staff have CHANGED MY LIFE. I came in to get a haircut from Erika and September. I came in with damaged, unhealthy hair. I wanted a big change that would highlight the natural curl/wave and texture of my hair. Erika knew exactly what to do and gave me the most beautiful haircut. I never have to heat style my hair again and can accent my beautiful, natural texture. The salon is a bit pricey, but for the quality of service, if you can afford it, it's worth it. I came back a few weeks later for a partial Bayalage to lighten my hair a bit. Tiffany was my colorist. She was so great- funny, awesome to talk to and was able to take my multi layered, thick hair and lighten it beautifully to add a nice, natural shine. Victoria washed my hair perfectly and pampered me to perfection. The entire staff is exceptionally talented and kind and I will never go to another salon again!

I just got the best haircut of my life from Katy! I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted (moreso what I DIDN'T want). Katy patiently & attentively listened and walked me through a plan of action for my hair that would highlight my features, while easing me into the makeover I was desperately seeking. Katy created the perfect cut for my face and hair texture, carefully carving each razor stroke with intention. I knew after the first few minutes I was going to be THRILLED with the end results. The transformation Katy provided **exceeded** my extremely picky and high standards. I went in for a haircut ... and left feeling like a movie star. Not only is Katy a pro with the razor (she calmed my nerves by assuring me she had 10+ years of experience with one), she's super sweet, too!! If you want everyone you know to be jealous of your locks, go get your hair cut by Katy. She will breathe life into your mane and you'll walk out of the salon with a newfound sense of confidence, too. I don't mean to brag but my hair is fly af. Other mentionables: *The salon is SUPER cute and very bright and cheery and clean *Edo = you're going to get star treatment * All of the products are non or v low toxic so you can enjoy your shampoo and color treatments with peace of mind *I'm also COVID-paranoid and received insight before I arrived that all the artists are partially or fully vaccinated (they'll be wearing masks, too!)

I've always been apprehensive to the idea of finding a new hairstylist but Edo proved me otherwise! My partner tried them out, turned me onto them, and I followed suit. Kismet as it was, I got Katy (not privy to the fact that she has- for my sake, an immense knowledge of all hair curly and surfer style haircuts) who had the same image for my hair that I did, and followed with providing helpful styling tips for the future. If you're a surfer, allow a trip to Edo in your budget every once in a while. Else-wise, my partner is a straight haired blonde gal and she came back from Edo with great volume and texture for those who fit in that niche of hair types.

Terrible experience; what a nightmare! Exorbitant price. Excessive time in the chair. Dreadful results. Steer clear.

TLDR: You may walk out with a shag cut if you bring in a couple of recent photos from the salon's own instagram page that are not shags as examples, and ask for any-of-these-but-not-a-shag. Based on several other reviews it seems my experience is not unique. Given how pricey it is, I expected better. Other misc notes: Place seems very clean. It's well lit and the decor is super trendy. You feel cool sitting in the waiting area. Every individual person I've interacted with has been professional in demeanor. However they are always running late. At least 15 minutes every single time I've been there (at this point 3 full cuts and a couple of bang trims). Don't waste time trying to schedule a bang trim here if you have a 9-5 job. More than once they have had no openings for trims for over 2 weeks and 2 of the times I managed to schedule a bang trim they had called me saying the stylist was running 30 minutes late. Bang trims with the head stylists (if you want to be picky about who's doing your bang trim, have fun waiting weeks for a spot to open up) can run to $25. Also, I always said the same thing when getting a bang trim "textured bangs in a straight-across shape, not U-shape, to just above the eyebrows" and it's been interesting to see how differently that was interpreted each time. On top of everything else, their "chemical free" talk about their styling products is grating. What is it made of that has no chemicals? Antimatter?? It's fine to avoid a specific chemical for specific reasons, but "chemical free" talk is ridiculous and makes me question their professionalism. ----- More details of my full cut experiences: My first visit here was actually over a year ago. I spent a long time choosing which stylist to make the appointment with. I chose Julia because she had a couple of examples of cute textured layered cuts with bangs that were not shags on people who appeared to have a similar hair type to me. I came in with a few examples saved from the salon's instagram of what I was open to, depending on what she thought would suit my face shape. I specifically asked for not a shag, and said that while I was happy to have to blow dry my hair every day and apply a little product, I didn't want something that required heavy styling to look acceptable. I ended up with short layers on top, very thin tapered layers on the bottom, and cheekbone length curtain bangs. It actually looked pretty cool in the studio lighting photo after she used a diffuser on it, so I was initially cautiously happy about it, thinking maybe she did know it would work on my hair type after all. But it deflated within 30 minutes of walking out the door, and the next day once my hair fully straightened out, it just looked like I had really overgrown hair that had been cut too thin on the ends. It looked actively bad after just air drying or blow drying. I was never able to get it to look that way again, even using the same hair products that she used (I don't own a diffuser, that may have made the difference). I decided to give them one more try, since I did see cuts in their photos that were not shags and looked really nice. I scheduled my subsequent two cuts with Jewel. I tried to be even more clear and she also seemed to listen more carefully and asked more clarifying questions. I did end up with a cut I liked, which was not a shag and indeed still would look acceptable when just blow dried. In the end, I don't think I'll be returning here. It's just too expensive for the risk of the variation in quality and style of full cut or bang trim when asking different stylists for the same thing.

Still not happy with my haircut. Never heard back from the salon after emailing them. Can't believe I spent 250 dollars for one of the worst haircuts of my life. Curls hacked short, razored unevenly so they fall at different lengths on both sides of my head, even my bangs are heavier on one side and clump differently on one side of my face than the other. Definitely not worth the money for such inconsistent results.

Cool salon and lovely atmosphere, staff are friendly and helpful. I had a nice experience however the worst color of my life that I am still trying to cut out after a year. I had taken a break from coloring my hair to have my baby. I was very excited to get a simple dark gloss color however this is not what I got. Firstly the color did not cover well so I had to go back a week later however by this time I was sure I could see a red/orange tinge to my hair. The application of the double color made my hair very coarse and dry. My hair had been in very good condition due to no heat styling or treatments for several years. The worst part was everyone kept telling me they liked the new chestnut color?! I had asked for zero warmth cool dark color. Now over a year later the hair with the color is almost a strawberry blond (I have dark brown hair) I found another colorist who recommended a Demi gloss which is perfect however the blond keeps coming through. I had long hair but I need to keep cutting it to get the terrible color out. I did call Edo to ask about the color and I was told that was normal since it was an organic dye. Not worth having terrible hair :(

Should have known after reading reviews and not seeing more diverse hair on IG‍ Let me just start off by saying that I'm solemnly giving this place the 3 stars due to my stylist Lindsey. My appointment was set at 10 am so I decided to get there at 9:45 am to make sure I had enough time to find parking, mind you I drove in from San Jose on a Tuesday for this appointment. As I got to the salon and had started to look for parking I saw my stylist walking into the salon, I had been super nervous the night before as I had read a bad review on her and let me just say, that girl was right! Walked into the salon at 9:53 am, was greeted nicely by the receptionist and was asked to sit down with another girl that was sitting there waiting for her stylist . Her stylist had already set up her place and was just adjusting a couple of things but had acknowledge her and kept telling her how she would be with her in a moment. Mind you, my stylist Lindsey was still downstairs and came up around 9:58 am. She stoped by the receptionist, looked at herself in the mirror to adjust her hair and then came over to the station that was right next to me and proceeded to set up her place and not acknowledge me, I was the only client sitting on their sofa. Not a hi, not a good morning or even a smile of acknowledgement. I thought back at that review and almost left, but I kept thinking how regardless I was gonna get charged, meanwhile another girl had come in and was greeted by her stylist and taken to her station right away. 10:05 am: was finally greeted by Lindsey and she asked me what she could do for me. Showed her a couple of photos and told her that due to the pattern of my hair, if she felt like if the cut wouldn't frame my face or wouldn't shape well that I was open to just getting the weight off my hair and have it lightly shaped, but I told her I did not want bangs and was super nervous I would end up with a mullet or short bob. She said that she knew what we could do and proceeded to take me to the bowl to wash my hair, I should have known at this moment I should have walked out 1010: I know this because I looked at my phone when we got back from having my hair washed. Sat back in her chair and the haircut started, I tried everything I could to talk to her and kept mentioning to her how nervous I was about the haircut, but she barely spoke to me. Tried to calm my nerves down from that review and just thought, "You know what, it's fine, as long as she gives me the cut that I want, we don't need to chat, that's who she is and that's fine." Typically I'm used to stylist who talked to me along the way telling me what they are about to do, but she just ran with the cut and I was given pretty much the same cut as that review I had read the night before!! Nothing like the photo I had showed her and was given check bone fringe bangs. Told her several times how I wasn't sure about the cut and mentioned how I came in with all this hair and how now the shape felt so off to me, didn't say anything and just kept going. Ok fine, tried to be open to the cut and by this point she walked over to grab some product before she diffused my hair. Told her that I wasn't sure how to diffuse my hair and if she could teach me how to style my new hair style, she told me like 2 things and that was it, my hair was still damp and she took of the mock. Told her if she was done and she said yes, my hair was starting to frizz up and asked her what I could do about the frizz and she just said, "Oh I don't know." At this point there was just no point to even ask her anymore questions. 1056: Get walked by Lindsey to the receptionist and she explained one of the products she used and was told by her not to do a casting gel or diffuse my hair upside (Even though my hair is curly with some waves to it) then walked away. The receptionist looked at me and even looked shocked herself, she then proceeded to try and guide me to some products to help with my frizziness, which thankfully I had read up on some of there products before going to the salon. I was booked for a 2 hour hair appointment with Lindsey and felt like she didn't take her time with my cut at all. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I am solemnly giving this place 3 stars due to my stylist Lindsey (IG name coastalhair_sf). As far as everything else goes, everyone else in the salon seemed nice but I didn't stay long enough to see the outcomes with the other girls. I do have an April appointment set with Chrissy Collins that I'm tempted to cancel after my experience with Lindsey. So there you have it folks! As embarrassed as I am, I posted my photos on here.
