One of the best gelato in Florence. We just loved it. There is quite a lineup which is understandable because of the authenticity. The cones are handmade and they taste awesome. It’s a very cute small shop but the service is very quick. Highly recommended for the dessert lovers. You cannot get over of this place.

Google
Queue up and treat yourself Yes, the scoops are smaller than what you’ll find next door, but the quality makes up for every bite. Check the flavors of the day posted outside—no preservatives, no food dyes, just pure creamy magic. I had to try the Salted Pistachio after reading rave reviews and wow… it totally lived up to the hype. The Fondante (dark chocolate) was another knockout.

Choon T

Google
It is one of the more popular gelato places in Florence. Tried both their dark chocolate and pistachio flavours. Not overly sweet. What makes it special is that they make their own cone 😊

Google
We tried two gelaterias a day during our trip, and this one truly stood out, it was absolutely amazing! The gelato was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and clearly homemade with real artisan care. The mint flavour was incredibly fresh it became our go-to and honestly, a bit of an obsession. I kept going back throughout our stay because I just couldn’t get enough. Every flavour my husband tried was just as impressive rich, smooth, and full of flavour. Easily one of the best gelato spots we’ve visited!

Google
Usually I ignore gelato places next to touristy spots. This one is right next to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. I just finished climbing up and down the Dome, and our tour guide gave us a list of good gelato places, and pointed out this one is the closest one to where we were at. Got mango, strawberry and lemon, and they were delicious! Definitely go here for gelato if you’re in the area!

Google
Our favorite gelato we have had in Italy!! Unique flavors, and absolutely the most delicious. Perfect location, small shop, and the woman that served us was working alone at the time, but doing a wonderful job getting everyone through quickly. 10/10!!! We will be back

Google
Best gelato in Florence! Creamy and delicious, the ingredients are clearly of the highest quality (I also love to know that everything is organic!) I read a couple of reviews about the price, but the extra euro or two compared to nearby shops is worth it for the organic ingredients and the quality of the gelato. I was able to try two flavors before ordering. The salted pistacchio isn’t too salty and it’s delicious. The dark chocolate is creamy and not too sweet, and the nocciola and cannella are classic delicious flavors.

Google
Absolutely amazing gelato! What really stood out was the unique variety of flavors—they had so many creative and specialty options that you don’t find just anywhere. Every flavor we tried was rich, smooth, and full of depth. You can tell they take pride in what they do. A must-visit for gelato lovers looking for something a little different and extra delicious!

Yelp
Loved this unique gelato near the Duomo. There was no line and we quickly browsed the flavors. I knew right away I was going with the caramelized fig and almond. They had vegan gelato which I had not seen anywhere else. Both of my flavors ended up being vegan! I also got half salted pistachio. The workers were friendly, and they loaded up your cone with the fresh gelato from the pots behind the counter. It was SO creamy, rich, and delicious. I love the flavors that are not too sweet, and this was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Their homemade cones are made fresh daily too. I would definitely go back here, however it wasn't my number one top favorite gelato in Florence.

Yelp
We ended up getting a crepe here and added dark chocolate ice cream in the center. The crepe was perfectly cooked and to be warned the ice cream melted really fast on the inside. I enjoyed it but there were so many good gelato places in Italy it wasn't my favorite. Still good though!
google avatar

Haylee M.

Yelp
Quite a long line so we were hoping for some really amazing gelato. It was actually quite creamy and melted fairly quickly, lol. Good sign? They had these waffle cone cups which were super creative, but they ran out by the time we got there. Dad did manage to get one though! Crunchy and delicious! Simple menu but delicious flavors. Stracciatella and Milk Chocolate was a good combination. The milk chocolate was actually fairly rich and dark. They had a dark chocolate option as well, but this milk chocolate actually tasted like dark chocolate and the dark chocolate was extremely dark! Brother got Stracciatella and Hazelnut and seemed to love it. They also had an Almond and Orange flavor that was quite unique. It actually had the flavors of almond and orange both. Very refreshing.

Yelp
100/10 LOVE Edoardo so much. Visiting Florence after 8 years, my husband and I knew that we'd have to visit Edoardo to see if it was just as good as we remember and to no surprise it was. We tried to go as many times as we could during our trip. When we couldn't, we tried other gelato stores, but Edoardo still came out on top every time. Just top quality gelato in a top quality location! Don't waste your time at other stores if you're nearby.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
I am usually wary of storefronts right on a touristy square, but the gelato here was great. I got the apple-cinnamon gelato and Chianti sorbet -- both were fun flavors that I have never had before. They make their cones fresh, sometimes as you order! The shop is right in front of the Duomo, so you have to take the obligatory photo with your gelato in front of it. It's the right (touristy) thing to do.
google avatar

Fred T.

Yelp
Awesome Gelato place right by the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Always seemed to be a line which in a tourist area can be a mixed bag. But having sampled the good twice it was uniformly excellent. I had a three scoop with different variates of coffee and it was simply fantastic. Two different sweeter varieties layered between a slightly bitter expresso layer provided the perfect contrast. The waffle cone held up well Prices were in line for the location
google avatar

Delilah M.

Yelp
Our favorite gelato! My husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon and Florence was one of our stops. We had gelato in Rome and we weren't impressed; it was always too sweet. Heard about Edoardo's from my best friend and we knew he had to try it. I got the pistachio gelato and it was delicious! By far the best gelato we've had on the trip. It was smooth, tasted clean, not too sweet, tasted exactly what you'd dream about! Their cones were also delicious and tasted freshly made. Highly recommend if you're in Florence!
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
So decadent. Don't be fooled by the tourist trap-ish location. I think about this place a lot and hope I can go again.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
My favorite gelato closest to the Duomo! You literally get gelato with one of the most stunning views in Florence. I've had many of their flavors and all of them are great, one of my go-to's is the Fior di latte (basically milk latte- super creamy and delicious). Love this spot!
google avatar

Sherman K.

Yelp
I had gelato all 5 days I was in Florence (twice one day!), and Edoardo had the best we tried! I should have known it was good by the line out the door. The gelato was so smooth & tasty, with a perfect density. I had one scoop of the most wonderful dark chocolate and a scoop of cinnamon. They make their own cones too (gluten free if you're counting). It is a perfect stop before or after (during?!) your sightseeing at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. I only wish we had discovered them sooner than our last night in Florence!!!

Yelp
Of all the Gelato places we tried during our vacation (which is actually alot.. Probably around 15 places at least) I would say this place is one of the best.. Service and staff was excellent.. Choices I loved because they had different unique flavor combinations not found in other places. Price is also very good.. Tip for ordering. Order medium size cup which they let you pick up to 3 flavors.. Pick 3 and you will get almost double the amount as you would get at some other places... I ordered chianti, strawberry, and some lavender with cream/honey. Which was really tasty and refreshing.. Also ordered salted pastachio (which was one of the best I've tasted) and raw almond.. Which was also tasty and full of flavor. Ended ordering another small cup with pastachio and hazel Nutt/brown sugar.. Also very yummy. Can't believe I waited this long to try this place as we passed by few times.. I can't wait to go back tomorrow and try some other flavors.

Jessie T.

Yelp
During my trip, I tried gelato at many other places in Italy and Edoardo was the best. Flavor and texture was perfect. Highly recommend if you are in Florence.

SS S.

Yelp
Updating my review since a return visit they did not have my flavor, and also the texture for one particular flavor was way too soft this time around. Downgraded, but still one of the better ones around! Oooo - sooo good! Tried so many other gelato places around Florence and this one came up on top - in flavor and in texture. I love the honey lavender flavor!
google avatar

Bobbie B.

Yelp
By far the best gelato I've had throughout my Italy tour/stay. The cinnamon gelato is out of this world, a kiss from the heavenly gods. So good! Highly recommend this place as it is authentic gelato not like some of the touristy piled high stuff you'll see elsewhere. Nice, creamy and smooth. So good!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
I've had gelato at over 25 places across Italy and this is simply the best. This is my first stop when I come to Florence. Edoardo's salted pistachio is loaded with flavor that cannot be duplicated elsewhere. I also really enjoy the salted peanut and have tried most of the flavors and they are all good so you want go wrong. The location is also ideal because you can enjoy your gelato while strolling around the Duomo. What a wonderful pairing!
google avatar

Mallorie T.

Yelp
The gelato is soooo good! I really wanted three flavors but didn't want to pay for three ( college girl on a budget) so the employee let me had the tiniest scoop of my third flavor, apricot! Everything was good and I think this was the smoothest gelato I'd had all summer. It was creamy yet more of a custard smooth slidy texture. It was heavenly.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
We tried probably 8 different gelato places, this was my favorite for sure. I had a Milk, honey, and Lavender gelato that was just absolutely heaven. If I could ship it home in the gallon I would have.

Two W.

Yelp
Menu: small Price: fair compared to other gelateria Gelato: Mango: super intense flavour, delicious Pistachio: also super intense Amarena: average Fig: so creamy and delicious - would get again The gelato is soft and creamy, perfect texture. Flavours were intense and interesting. Would come again for sure. Best we had in Florence
google avatar

Kari S.

Yelp
I have been here atleast 20+ times over a course of several trips/years and the consistency and service stayed constant! Get anything or all with Pistachio!
google avatar

Anco M.

Yelp
We visited a pizza & gelato making class where they recommended Edoardo. We popped by straight away. A lovely selection of really tasty high quality gelato. And the cones are made in house in the shop. A great gelateria.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Gelato by the duomo, what more could you want?! I heard about this place on a recommendation from Trip Advisor and it delivered - the gelato is tasty and it's the perfect treat after climbing the dome (or bell tower). If you can snag a seat, great! Otherwise it's probably going to be grab-and-go for you here. But you won't be disappointed at the flavor selection or the prices, both are pleasing. To be honest, it isn't the best gelato shop in Florence, that honor goes to La Carraia (just over the river) but it is the best shop in this part of the city.
google avatar

Conner S.

Yelp
Even though Edoardo can come off touristy (it's located right in front of the Duomo), it is definitely worth the visit! I recommend the Fior di latte. Enjoy your gelato while soaking in one of the best views in Florence!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The fior di latte is amazing, but every flavor we tried was honestly fantastic. 100% worth standing in line for 15-20 minutes (and honestly, most of the gelaterias we have tried I would not wait for on return). Excellent.
google avatar

William T.

Yelp
Astonishing. It is difficult to believe there is better gelato anywhere. Worth the lines. The homemade cones are good too.

Sarah N.

Yelp
The best gelato of all of Italy! You must go while in Florence, highly recommend! Get the cone, it's so good!
google avatar

Christine E.

Yelp
This gelato is delicious. Be careful of the cones...this one was top heavy. A second after taking this photo I was wearing the gelato because the cone broke in half (most likely my fault). I managed to catch most of it in my hand and my husband ran back inside to grab a cup. The napkins in Italy are a complete joke so we rushed back to the hotel so I could wash off. I ate every bite of this delicious gelato though
google avatar

Allen F.

Yelp
My favorite gelateria in Firenze. I've sampled many flavors here but my favorite is the "zabaione" with a nice strong flavor of Marsala. I go back to Edoardo again and again.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
I have dreams about this gelato. I studied abroad in Florence a few years ago and would eat it several times a week. The canella (cinnamon) and fiore di latte flavor on a handmade cone is TO DIE FOR!!!!!! I visited Florence a couple weeks ago super excited to taste my favorite gelato once again, and was so bummed they didn't have the two flavors I wanted. I hope they continue to keep those two flavors on the menu because they are my absolute favorite!
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
Really amazing gelato in Florence! The vegan options they have here are spectacular. The dark chocolate and almond I got were both vegan! The dark chocolate was so good I ended up going again to get a full cup of it haha. This was probably my favorite gelato in all of Italy but for Mo he still loves the spot we went to in Monti.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Best gelato I had in Italy. Went on a week trip and ate it every day. We were in Florence for 2 days and had it both times. Loved the dark chocolate rich and smooth. But the pistachio was mine and my friend's favorite. Little pieces of pistachios. They make the waffle cones right there too.
google avatar

Danna R.

Yelp
Best gelato I've tried. We took a pizza cooking class and the chef recommended this place as one of the best in Florence. I tried the chocolate with hazelnut and the pistachio with salt. They were both delicious and soo creamy. The service was also great.
google avatar

Stacey L.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars knowing that 5 stars is a perfect review, I would! I did an Italy trip in 2018 where I went from Venice to Naples and Amalfi/Capri, and Edoardo was my absolute favorite. The flavors were so on point and the texture was just perfect. I've tried many flavors but always default to hazelnut and pistachio for most gelato places and theirs are top notch. My husband liked the dark chocolate (negro) and egg milk cream (crema), although those two were a bit too rich for my liking, they were delicious for one or two bites. I was lucky enough to come back to Florence again in 2019 for just 5 days, but let it be known that I made sure to visit Edoardo 4 of those days (1 day missing was because of whichever day they happened to be closed). Located across the Duomo, it's also the perfect location for a night time stroll.
google avatar

Abby B.

Yelp
Edoardo was my favorite gelato place in Florence when I studied abroad years ago, and the quality hasn't changed a bit. By far the most decadent, flavorful pistachio gelato I've ever had in my life. Don't be fooled by its touristy location; Edoardo is worth at least a daily visit. Honey and lavender, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and hazelnut were amongst the other flavors we loved. Needless to say, I'm going through intense gelato withdrawal here in the States and will dream about Edoardo until I come back to Florence someday (a romance story for the ages).
google avatar

Siang O.

Yelp
Very good quality waffle cone and gelato. Many interesting and more contemporary flavors. Right at the cathedral square. The staff speak English fluently and are very patient and nice.
google avatar

Isabella B.

Yelp
Edoardo states that as "il gelato biologico", their gelato is free from GMO's, artificial coloring, additives, preservatives and adjuvants. They also comply with EU organic farming regulations, which allows them to display the EU's equivalent to "certified organic" on their product. Their chickens that lay the eggs live cage-free and the dairy milk come from cows that graze in pastures. Side note: Gelato passes the test because of their dedication to the craft and they store their gelato inside tins. Any serious gelateria would do their best to serve their gelato in excellent condition. As a more practical concern Edoardo is located right across from the Duomo's apse. On a nice day it is a very photogenic spot to pose with your gelato. Should you climb the dome or campanile it's a great way to reward yourself after walking all those steps! For my first gelato in Florence I got their gianduia (hazelnut and chocolate). I liked the balance between chocolate and hazelnut though I would've preferred a slightly stronger hazelnut flavor. My only regret was that as they are known for their handmade cones I should've opted for a cone instead of a cup. I'd recommend this gelato place for their dedication to the craft and their convenient location near the Duomo.

Yelp
Visited: Spring 2019 Ordered: -La Crema (fresh eggs & vanilla) -Limone (lemon) Thoughts: Asked the server for a popular recommendation and was told it's the la crema, which is fresh eggs and vanilla. I was very skeptical, but tried it anyways and was mind blown. It was so rich and creamy and definitely the best gelato I had in all of Italy. The limone was just okay in comparison.
google avatar

Rhiannon C.

Yelp
It's been almost four years since my visit to Florence, and I still remember the magic of Edoardo's gelato. My friends, who didn't even travel to Italy with me, still tease me every once in awhile, exclaiming, "Oh! Edoardo's!" like he's an ex-lover or something. (I did talk about Eduardo a lot after my trip lol). Anyways, having tried multiple gelato places in Rome, Florence, and Venice, honestly, nothing else compares. It's simply the best. Not only is the ice cream thick, creamy, and delicious, but it's soft and stretchy like a good gelato should be. You can tell that a lot of love and care goes into making every flavor, and I really appreciate that. Plus, nothing beats a fresh waffle cone, piled three scoops high, and walking out of Edoardo's to see the Duomo. The best gelato, a gorgeous city, and stunning cathedral. Can't beat that! My favorite flavors (yes, I still remember them) are La Crema, Pistachio, and Chocolate Hazelnut. P.S. Funny story, one day I went twice, and the young man serving gelato recognized me and my sister as we walked in and yelled in greeting, "My friends!" It was both amazing and embarrassing.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Hands-down best gelato I had in Florence (and probably Rome and Venice). Delicious organic and vegan-friendly flavors are some of the concoctions offered here right by the Basilica. They hand-make the cones and the flavors are definitely innovative and new. We went when there wasn't a long line so we got to try all the flavors. The staff was very friendly and put up with all our exclamations of joy after each tasting. We ended up going for these two pairs and they were delicious: Hazelnut chocolate and white chocolate berry Pistachio and white wine & egg This is a must try for Florence!
google avatar

Leslie-Ann J.

Yelp
On a day trip through the beautiful and inspiring Florence, our group stopped by Edoardo on the recommendation of our tour guide, and I am so pleased that we did. They had some special flavors of the day and their regular flavors which included Ricotta, Lavender, Honey and a Sicilian Lemon with actual lemon in it. I went with those flavors and had to eat the lemon fast because it was so hot in Florence today and I didn't want those flavors to mix too much. The lemon was refreshing but let me make this clear I need more Ricotta, Lavender, and Honey gelato in my life. RLH was so good I wish I would have gotten a larger serving. If you are in Florence make sure stop by the Duomo and then go to Edoardo.
google avatar

Alexa A.

Yelp
Awesome Gelato! Have seasonal flavors which is good, and have organic flavors as well. Very rich and authentic- and the one worker behind the counter was very polite and timely for being the only employee with a huge line! More expensive then your average gelato place but would recommend!
google avatar

Jade F.

Yelp
Nocciola (hazelnut) gelato here is delicious! They even have other unique flavors such as eggs with white wine and red wine sorbet. Definitely worth checking out when you're nearby the duomo. :) Tip: get gelato with their waffle cone, their homemade waffle cone is good!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Small place with few gelato choices. My favorite was the mela (Apple) gelato! It was so fresh, light, and had real pieces of green apple skin inside. Loved this one!

Yelp
I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: It's literally right by the Duomo, so that's pretty cool. 4/5 ATMOSPHERE: It's very small and cramped. There's no seating inside, so you've just gotta take what you get and go. But that's okay -- you can just sit on the curb outside or stand, and take in the view of the Duomo. 3/5 SELECTION: It's a gelato shop, so they have gelato and I think a few other desserts. I like that they have some labeled vegan options, but I wish their cones were vegan, or they had vegan cones as well. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: I got the vegan chocolate flavor in a cone. It's not on the main board, but there was another written sign inside, that listed a certain chocolate flavor as vegan, so I asked to make sure, and they said it was vegan, so I got that. It was super good -- definitely the best gelato I've had. It wasn't too thin, where it melted too easily -- and it wasn't too bitter or sweet in taste either -- just a good amount of richness and flavor lol. 4/5 SERVICE: The service was pretty good. When we were outside, an employee went outside to fix a sign, and we asked about the cones being vegan or not, and she answered that they weren't right away and said the ingredients that don't make it vegan, so I liked how knowledgeable she was. And then the part when talking our order, which I mentioned above was good too. And, despite them being busy, and there being a long line, it didn't really take that long, which shows they've got the line going and don't dilly-dally or anything lol. 4/5

Yelp
We had heard online that the freshest and most flavorful gelato can only be found at spots that cover their product with metal lids. One of our taxi drivers recommended Edoardo and we stumbled upon it before our tour of the Duomo (another must try excursion while in Florence). Rule #1 for going to Edoardo - skip the cup and go straight for the cone! Fresh, homemade cones that taste more like a sweet waffle than the cardboard trash you find at every other gelato spot in Italy. Our group of 5 opted for a variety of flavors (hazelnut, cinnamon, strawberry mango, peach, pistachio, milk chocolate, brown sugar walnut) and every single one was perfect texture, incredibly flavorful, and far surpassed every other gelato experience we had while in Italy.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
OMG. Best gelato I've ever found in Italy and I've been to Florence 4 times. Wow. Honey lavender, pistachio and La creame. Wow
google avatar

Canny F.

Yelp
My absolute favorite gelato! Freshly made cones. Long lines. So many options and cool flavors. They have vegan options too! Get a ticket! There's no point in standing on the line. They operate by ticket numbers. They have recommended flavors of the day which I tried but stuck with my usual pistachio and coffee. Loved it! Perfect flavors. It was so soft and not overbearing sweet. There were pistachio pieces throughout and every bite had a strong taste.
google avatar

Haley H.

Yelp
Highly recommend getting the cinnamon gelato! Only downside about this place is that they do not accept cards
google avatar

Kati S.

Yelp
We had a lot of gelato in Italy. Like...a lot. The first time I visited this country, I was a naive 17 year old and paid next to zero attention to the food. As a 29 year old, I knew better, and spent our most recent trip eating and drinking all the wonderful things. Including gelato. Edoardo is a tiny little shop steps from the duomo. We ordered a cup with part honey lavender & part fig from a highly uninterested gentleman and stepped outside to enjoy. I really like interesting gelato flavors; I enjoy seeing the mastery and balance that can be achieved with overwhelming or unique flavors to create something totally, well...different. The honey lavender flavor was quite delicious - delicate and well balanced, for sure. The fig flavor was a bit overwhelming to me, but I think that's just a personal taste thing. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're near the duomo and looking for a sweet treat!
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Pretty darn good gelato! I got Pistachio with salt and Cinnamon. The cinnamon was pretty good, but the pistachio was amazing. The salt really brought out the pistachio flavor! Completely forgot what hubs got, but it was pretty good as well. Definitely not the best combination ever, and he was slightly disappointed, but I remember it being decent. This place definitely has very interesting flavor combos, so come here if you want to try something new!
