I chose Edson Hill for my anniversary getaway largely due to the reviews online. While I really enjoyed certain aspects of my stay, other aspects were really disappointing. ||On the positive side, I have to say that the beds were super comfy, the views are beautiful, and we loved seeing five bears on the property!||The less enjoyable aspects largely relate to this “five star” accommodation feeling somewhat impersonal, less classy than I would have expected, and a rather embarrassing complimentary ‘breakfast’. |- I was asked before I arrived if we were celebrating anything special. I told them it was our wedding anniversary so I sort of thought that based on the question they would do something - even a token gesture - to share their congratulations, but there was no mention or acknowledgement of it after we arrived at any point. |- The plastic cups, “tea-bag” coffee and paper wrapper on the toilet paper felt more like a motel than a classy lodge. The wet towels that were left on the floor of our shower were also quite strange and disappointing that the TV was broken. I would strongly recommend, at a minimum, single-cup coffee machines in the room. |- The hardest aspect to wrap my head around was the “complimentary” continental breakfast that consisted of one croissant per person, a small bowl of fruit (to share) and either a cup of tea/filter coffee or juice. While I would have been ok with the very limited spread, I was shocked that the hotel valued this breakfast at $20 per person ($40 for the two of us) and added an obligatory 20% ($8) tip on our complimentary breakfast each day! Is this even legal? I was told by the receptionist that this “required tip” was because the server (who literally just dropped off a shoebox of food on the table and poured our water) needed to earn enough money. I’ve never in my life been charged an obligatory tip on a hotel’s complimentary breakfast. I would have also expected more of an offering for a continental breakfast - particularly when valued at $20 per person! Overall, it’s really concerning that: 1) the hotel is not paying the server well enough to cover her costs, and 2) that they feel that it is worthwhile to inflate their costs to make their guests compensate for this pay gap. ||I’m not sure if Edson Hill is just really quiet in the summer (although Stowe was very busy) or it is past its prime, but we were among the only guests on a three-night say over the 4th of July week, so maybe other guests have had similar experiences but chosen not to vocalize them…||In conclusion, it’s a beautiful location with heaps of potential, but at the moment sadly missing the mark.

Edson Hill is top-notch! It is the perfect location to decompress from hectic and busy life. It is one of a kind! We love to travel and somehow always end up coming back and extending our stay because of it's uniqueness. The decor and rooms are beautiful+cozy and always spotless. The breakfast is unbeatable - fresh, delicious with stunning views! The dining room and tavern are wonderful. The pork loin was a fave this trip! The ability to walk out your door to amazing trails on property for snow shoeing, cross country skiing is unmatchable. Ross keeps then in great shape and so helpful with pointers! Everyone is incredibly friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is the best. You leave Edson Hill with a happy soul and 10x more relaxed!

We stayed in the Do Unto Others suite (fireplace deluxe king) for one night on the weekend of March 29th. The room was impeccable. The linens, wood burning fireplace (and fireplace concierge service), order ahead add-ons, service, and dining experience were all easily a 5-star experience. This place is expensive - just shy of $600 for the night and worth every penny. The restaurant and downstairs bar area were great in terms of ambiance and quality. The lobby lounge was perfect for a quick drink and game of chess while waiting for our table to be ready. Food was amazing both for dinner and the included breakfast. I would go back in a heartbeat. Nick and McClean were great to deal with. Stowe and all of its popular sights is a quick drive from the hotel.

⸻ A Magical Experience at Edson Hill Manor! We recently stayed overnight at Edson Hill Manor to celebrate my daughter’s bridal shower, and it was truly beyond amazing. From start to finish, everything was remarkably special. The team at Edson Hill went above and beyond to create an unforgettable experience — cozy, warm, elegant, and absolutely stunning in every way. We enjoyed a beautiful dinner the evening before, set against the backdrop of the manor’s picturesque views and timeless charm. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was both intimate and sophisticated. The day of the bridal shower was simply magical. We had originally planned to host it indoors, but thanks to the beautiful weather, the staff was more than happy to move everything outdoors. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Surrounded by the lush landscape and crisp Vermont air, the setting was breathtaking. We chose a special blue and white theme, and I brought in fresh florals to complement the decor. The staff embraced the theme with care and enthusiasm — every detail was executed flawlessly. All hands were on deck to bring our vision to life, and the result was an elegant celebration that exceeded all expectations. From the personal touches to the warm hospitality, everything reflected the heart and soul of Edson Hill Manor. Their team made us feel not only welcome but truly cared for — every moment was meaningful and memorable. Edson Hill Manor is a rare gem — combining Vermont charm with refined luxury. I’m so grateful to the entire team for making my daughter’s bridal shower an event we’ll treasure forever. I truly hope to return soon for another extraordinary experience.

We are so sad today! Because we have to leave this winter wonderland haven !!! From the moment we arrived at Edson Hill the holiday was perfection! The staff are so amenable, professional and fun! The rooms are designed in luxurious country theme which made us feel like we stepped back in time but with all the modern conveniences. The grounds include a pond, stream, trails and a beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast featured perfectly executed meals at a 5 star level! We enjoyed snow showing on the trails and witnessed the local wildlife as they frolicked in the snow! We cannot wait to return!!!

My husband and I have been visiting Edson Hill almost every year since 2017 and we always stay in the same room, 'Show Love'. We absolutely adore Edson Hill. It's the perfect place to escape real-life (and 3 kiddos :P) for a little R&R. This year, we finally took advantage of the snow shoeing that is offered and explored the property. It was so beautiful! For dining, one of our favorite things to do is to go down to the Tavern for a drink before our dinner reservation. The Tavern is so cozy and is the perfect setting for a quick drink before dinner but you can also order dinner down there. It looks like most reviews that are lower have more to do with the dining experience than a stay at the property and I would echo that the service does leave a little to be desired at dinner time (the breakfast service was impeccable). However, the food is so wonderful, I think it makes up for the longer wait times. We couldn't recommend Edson Hill more and look forward to our next visit!

Google
We visit Stowe quite often and Edson Hill is our "go to" place to stay. Unless you want to be right at the mountain or want a full service hotel or need a condo-style room configuration for a family, there is literally no better place to stay in Stowe. And while being at the mountain obviously has some advantages during ski season, your room, the food and the staff will not come close to matching Edson Hill's.

We loved our stay at Edson Hill and would definitely come back if we return to Stowe. All the staff were very helpful. ||Two points of constructive feedback would be: ||1) accommodating dietary requirements. I am coeliac and am always mindful of giving hotels weeks’ notice of this. I had two very different experiences at breakfast. Day 2 was very good, but on Day 1 it felt as though requesting some accommodation in the menu for her gluten allergy (eg by having fruit in lieu of the pastries that she is not able to eat) was met with some resistance initially - eg I was asked to pay for the substitutions. Gluten free bread was available at dinner on the first night, but it was slightly disappointing that this was not available following this.||2) on the Monday night staff had been helpful in recommending Michael’s on the Hill for dinner. We asked the front desk to arrange a taxi that morning, and were assured this would be done. 15 minutes after the taxi was due, another front desk colleague put in a call to the taxi company to find that this hadn’t been booked for us. We drove instead, but would have preferred the opportunity both to enjoy a good local red wine.||Overall a great stay and we would go back, would welcome a few minor tweaks and it would have been spot on.

Yelp
What an exceptional experience at Edson Hill! With at least 2 weeks advance notice, Edson Hill was able to accomodate us vegans. And wow, did they blow us away! Edson Hill arranged a pre fixe menu for us. - The Brussel Sprouts cooked to perfection, savory, smoky, hint of sweetness, and nutty from the pignoli dukkah and salt. - The Arugula and Beet Salad was so fresh, a beautiful balance of spiciness from the arugula, earthy sweetness from the beets, and sweetness candied pecans, and brightness from the dressing. - The Fig & Radicchio Salad was one of my favorites and what I will be dreaming about! Savory and smoky from the radicchio, subtle sweetness from the figs, varied textured with candied pistachios, and Chef Dylan's take on a vegan burrata... chef's kiss! - The Maple Soy Glazed Foraged Mushroom Pate was sourced from foraged mushrooms on the property (And Chef Dylan's mushroom guy is vegan!). What a treat! The broth was so umami and delicious! The pate wrapped in napa cabbage was so beautiful and a nice hint of sweetness from the maple and yams. - The Peach Streusel was a lovely finish, nice balance of tart, sweet, and richness. A sincere and serious thank you to Chef Dylan who's vegan cooking blew us away and could feel his passion in making exceptional dishes and experiences, Lei who helped coordinate our reservation and correspondence and the entire Edson Hill staff who made our experience so memorable. It far exceeded our expectations on service, the food, and I cannot thank you enough! We come to Stowe every year and will definitely be back if you will take us! I highly recommend Edson Hill as your next special occasion out when in Stowe. Thank you!

Yelp
Great food. Amazing mocktails. Family dinner atmosphere which was very welcoming. The steak was done perfectly and mashed potatoes very good

Yelp
Situated in a country club / nice resort, is the Edson Hill restaurant. We came on the earlier side on the weekend and got situated at the bar given that most of the tables were already reserved. The dinner was fantastic! All the food we got were amazing. I highly recommend the lamb carpaccio and the octopus!! The bartender was also amazing! She was so friendly towards us as well. Overall, would come back again!

Yelp
Edson Hill is somewhere that everyone should stay and eat at least once in their lifetime. Stunning grounds, personable staff, interesting food flavor combinations. The outdoor patio is really beautiful at night and lovely in the mornings at breakfast. For dinner we ordered smoked carrots w lavender goat cheese and maple dressing, prawns, halibut and succotash, NY strip steak with a fried potato cake and chanterelle mushrooms. For dessert we got the basil creme brulee with preserved lemons and shortbread. The vegetables are so fresh, they seem like they were picked that day. Everything was extraordinary. This was a top 5 lifetime meal for me. Pricey but absolutely worth it. There's really some artistic work happening here. There should be a special designation in yelp for Meals of a Lifetime to separate the 5 stars from the *6 stars.* In my opinion a Dairy Queen can have 5 stars if the food met or exceeded my expectations, everything was clean, the staff was excellent, and I had a great experience. Obviously that is different from these 5 stars. Well done Edson Hill, I will remember you always.

Yelp
My wife and I spend 3 magical nights at Edson Hill during peak foliage October 2024. Our room was located in the Hemlock House adjacent to the Manor House (which houses reception, the restaurant, the downstairs tavern in addition to several guest rooms). Room 11 was immaculate. Amazingly comfortable bed, perfect pillows, superb views of the property from our windows and a cozy (gas) fireplace with a large brick hearth and a nice tea/espresso station. I believe some rooms do have wood burning fireplaces as we saw the wood stacked outside other rooms (if you prefer that). The restaurants were great but we favored the tavern for its more intimate and authentic pub atmosphere. The included breakfasts were amazing and quite possibly the bacon the best I've ever had. Staff were personable and gracious. We cannot wait to return in the future.

Yelp
Romantic small intimate dining room, for example the couple at the next table got engaged. It was a nice refuge from downtown Stowe. Food was excellent. Had the Brussels sprouts, black truffle cacio e pepe, steak frites, and crème brûlée. Definitely recommend

When we asked to be sat a dining room, we were told "this is the best seat in the house". I was very insulted and my son was sliding off the sofa chair. Finally the hostess said "they are fully booked so we may have to wait over 30mins". I was ready to leave and then she said she moved things around and got us a seat at the dining room 10 mins later. We then sat upstairs and the dining room was not full. So again was very insulted. I believe the hostess was racist. We were the only asians there that was treated that way. Also the food was $50+ per plate and the food was mediocre. I would not come back here. You are better off going to Salute or the Bench.

Yelp
Food Service Atmosphere Had the Smoked Octopus, Foie gras, Steak Frites & The Duck. Go before the bugs come out.

Yelp
We knew it would be difficult to get a Fri-Sat reservation (we tried for several weeks), so we opted for a mid-week one. Edson Hill is exactly as others have described: intimate, cozy, warm and delightful. There is a comfy waiting area with fireplace; the bar downstairs has a lovely lounge with fireplace and views of the pond and mountains. If it was warmer temps, there's a beautiful brick patio outside. We nabbed a 5pm seating because I had class at 8pm and we wanted sufficient time to nosh and relax beforehand. We took a walk around the grounds, which are quite lovely. My understanding is that there is sometimes live music outside on the lawn, which sounds fun. The bartender was very friendly and their special cocktail menu changes all the time. Our server was pleasant, but I have a feeling she is used to a certain type of clientele. One of the first things she mentioned was that there would be no substitutions on the menu's main dishes. We hadn't intended to make any (not our thing), but I can see why this might be necessary to mention. We didn't see a main dish with sides that we truly wanted, so we decided to order several appetizers and make enough room for dessert. Our server seemed a little surprised that we weren't ordering main dishes (and having worked in the industry, I know what she may have been thinking). We started with two bowls of the Butternut Squash and Carrot Ginger Soup, which is served with kale chips. It was potentially vegan, as it appeared to be a velouté without cream (nut or dairy). I wish it had a bit more salt, but it was otherwise tasty. We followed that with an order of the Cider Glazed Pork Belly, which was served with micro greens, apple and pickled jicama. It was delicious. We also ordered the Fried Brussel Sprouts with smoked maple, pine nuts nutritional yeast, and Parmesan cheese. They were fantastic. We also had the Roasted Beets with beet molasses, candied pecan, chèvre and pumpkin powder. Also excellent. For dessert, we ordered the Flourless Chocolate Torte, which was served with cherries, pomegranate and a maple whipped cream. It was very good. All in all, it was a delightful mid-week meal out. I'll come here for après ski this season, to get cozy downstairs in the lounge.

Yelp
1000% yes! Edson Hill is warm, welcoming, homely and good to go solo, on a date or group. From start to finish, the experience is exceptional. I was welcomed by Peter, and another young man who were extremely kind. By the way, this is a review for the restaurant located within the inn. Michelle was my server and every recommendation was a hit; the scallops, beet salad and duck were spectacular! The McBride sister's Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect pairing and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Please check it out and enjoy!

Kristin M.

Yelp
#1 Absolutely perfect! Cozy, charming, picturesque! The food was creative and delicious. The drinks were wonderful. Dessert was outstanding. Jesse, the owner, could not be more kind, or accommodating. Jesse is a humble leader and has delivered a dream escape. Anna was so attentive throughout our meal and made spot on, patient suggestions. would not change a thing! Thank you!

Jessie L.

Yelp
The environment is great and service is excellent. We came here in a non peak season so food was very fast, server is attentive and view is great. The food is good but nothing really stands out to justify the hefty price tag.

Aliz U.

Yelp
AMAZING! Placed on a beautiful landscape, you can enjoy a gorgeous view while you dine here. The building itself was very inviting and cozy; while we were waiting for our table we were invited to the living room which was a comforting area filled with couches and art on the walls. Additionally, the dining area had nice tables and everything just fit with a modern- rustic type design. In regards to food, it was delicious. For appetizers we ordered the brussel sprouts and charcuterie board and were not dissatisfied by either. The board had a variety of cheeses that were all great and some side dips like hummus and a fruit spread. The brussel sprouts were salted and seasoned perfectly, I just wish the portion was bigger. Entrees I got a halibut dish that just melted in your mouth!! LITERALLY!! And for dessert we enjoyed the chocolate hazelnut panna cotta along with poached pears and sweet potato cookies. All were perfect and not too sweet- which we experience at most restaurants. Definitely pricey, but would go again!

Yelp
Amazing steak , cooked to perfection and sliced thin . The cheese board was good but very average for the area . The drinks stole the show, very tasty . The server , Warren, was fantastic- you'll be in good hands

S J.

Yelp
Top notch experience all around. I had heard amazing things about this place and it did not disappoint. The rooms is unbelievably cozy and they really thought of everything. The bed might be the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever experienced, the heated floors in the bathroom was an unexpected touch of luxury, and the wood burning fireplace was fantastic. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, as well as enjoyed drinks from the tavern. It's difficult to find bad food in Stowe, but the restaurant at Edson Hill was the best food we had during our stay. Make sure you make a reservation for dinner at least once while you are there. The tavern is also worth visiting. The decor is super cute and the drinks were fantastic. It's also worth mentioning that the staff could not have been nicer. They were warm, friendly, and extremely accommodating. The tavern and restaurant are closed 2 days a week, but the manager went out of her way to get us a beer anyway when we had time to kill before our dinner reservation in town. Finally, if all of this wasn't enough, the grounds are breathtaking. There isn't a corner of this property that isn't picture worthy. We will definitely be back.

Colin P.

Yelp
Could not recommend staying here more! Every detail is perfected. Was not super impressed by the dinner, but drinks were fantastic. Top tier organization!

ACally C.

Yelp
We had the most incredible meal here the other night. Chef Picca masterfully showcases the menu items without burying them in heavy sauces or butters/oils. We ordered the halibut over parsnip veloute and the scallops with pork belly over spaghetti squash and kale. Both were amazing. For dessert, we sampled the special which was a white chocolate and ginger bread pudding -- we would go back just for that! Highly recommend coming here for a special night. Cannot wait to come back to see what Chef Picca does next!!

Nina O.

Yelp
The food was great but the service was really not. The server was acting rude towards us the entire night. Our appetizers came out within 10 minutes of ordering and then our main courses took another hour and a half. No apologies from the staff when clearly there was something wrong (tables that came in after us got their food before we did). We had to beg to get the waitresses attention so that we could get the check. I liked the food and vibes but it was not the service I would expect at this price point.

Yelp
We decided to head east to celebrate our anniversary and settled on the Stowe area as our destination. I found Edson Hill online and we made that our base for our 4-night visit. Edson Hill is a beautiful and quiet country inn consisting of a main lodge and several 4-unit manor buildings spread around the wooded, mountainous property. You really feel like you are away from things up here and have no problem seeing the night sky littered with stars. Our room, #14, was in one of the buildings just up the hill from the main building and featured a beautiful king bed, wood-burning fireplace all set up for us, a cozy day bed, modern bathroom and decent sized room. Pluses: -beautiful grounds-peaceful setting away from hustle and bustle of Stowe yet short easy drive to town or other attractions -comfortably furnished room with ample space -EXCELLENT wood burning fireplace with plenty of easy-to-light dry wood and kindling-we had a fire every night! -friendly, helpful front desk staff -genial host/owner Eric ch cos in with people-spot him wearing a red vest -breakfast is included -the have a wonderful restaurant but you need reservations for dinner Opportunitities -breakfast service (nice that it's included) but service really leaves something to be desired-especially on the weekend days when it was grand central station right when they opened. No one tells you how it works when you check in (FYI: breakfast opens at 8, there seems to be a mad rush right when it opens as when we arrived, usually at 8:30 the muffins and juice were largely gone. Also, as to the menu, there are two choices each day, or you can get basic eggs, and there is usually sides like sausage, bacon, potatoes). On our second day the server forgot to submit our order-clearly still learning. -bed-I think the mattress in our room has seen better days and was a bit saggy-we rolled to the middle each night Overall just a few minor annoyances-a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
The food is good, the service is fine. The place is a little stuffy and the vibe is really snobby. If you want to go for a quiet dinner with great food, this is your spot. If you want anything else then pick another place.

Jade F.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW!! 10000/10! I would come back to Stowe just for this restaurant. Expensive but worth every single penny. Wait staff is extremely nice and food was just... oh my god... unreal. This should be Stowe's standard! Unfortunately most other restaurants in the area are eh. Edson Hill blew my husband and I out of the water.

David H.

Yelp
The food and service here were very good. I ate down by the bar and it was much quieter and more intimate than the main dining room upstairs. Great place to get dinner in Stowe.

C G.

Yelp
Overall a very good dining experience. We were seated under the awning and had a great view of the property. Our server asked what type of water we wanted and it was quickly brought to the table and we placed an order for the bar bites appetizer (olives, marinated mushrooms, and the most amazing almonds I've ever had). We ordered drinks and they came out promptly. As usual, my wife had numerous questions about items on the menu, which our server was able to answer. My wife ordered the blackened halibut and I ordered the braised rabbit (something I can't make at home). We also ordered salads. The salads came out immediately and I was concerned our meal would be rushed, but not to worry. There was plenty of time between when we finished our salads and when the entrées arrived. My dish was amazing. Braised rabbit, with kale, beluga lentils, in a ginger and lemongrass broth. It was excellent. My wife's fish was delicious as well, according to her. Sometime during our meal, it started getting lighter out, and I realized the awning was retracting. Nice touch. I was glad where we were sitting, because they also had a big tent setup for dining, and an open area with tables. This was a Friday night when they also had a concert in their meadow and the volume was perfect for us to hear all the way up at the patio. I had some desert and the waitress recommended a desert wine which I enjoyed. The only down side to the evening was that there were a lot of flies around. I put bug spray on my arms and the server lit one of those things that are supposed to keep the bugs away, but it didn't work.

Lindsey D.

Yelp
During our recent trip to Stowe, Edson Hill came highly recommended. We had a lovely tour of the spot when we stopped by to make the reservation, the interior is beautiful and the outside dining has a wonderful view of the grounds. While we were there we asked if they had a kids menu and were told they did. When it came time for our dinning experience ( party of 6, 4 adults 2 kids ) our waitress Robin could not have been ruder. She was immediately put off that we had kids with us ( mind you they are 9 & 11 who dine out all the time at places like this.) When we asked for kid options she told us " what you see is what you get". Our meals were all wonderful, but we felt rush and any questions we had were replied to in a very curt manner. Edson Hill has delicious and creative food, beautiful ambiance but we will never return to pay for a $500 meal to me treated to horribly.

Yelp
Friends recommended we seek out a table here during our COVID staycation, and we're so glad they did. Our dinner here was the highlight of an overall solid series of meals during our 4 nights in Stowe. To start, the setting on the screened patio was lovely and comfortable on a crisp fall evening, with a thoughtful amount of table spacing yet a lively feeling of dining out, a balance that's been hard to find these days. Space heaters kept the temperature cozy. Our server greeted us right away, and cocktails arrived promptly. She was knowledgeable about the menu, and to her credit gently stopped us from ordering too much. We shared the beet salad and Brussel sprouts, the former excellent and the latter ridiculously decadent. As we ordered mains I focused on the wine list and was delighted - it clearly reflected the curation of someone who really thought through the offerings with an informed point of view. That proved to be the case, as after a few questions of the server, she sent over Peter, who steered us to a perfect pairing to our mains from a producer whom he and I both admired. If he is on site during your visit, do seek his advice We both were very pleased with our entrees - halibut and pork shank from the new fall menu. Despite our servers efforts, we nevertheless overindulged and could not manage dessert. Needless to say, we left happy and satiated.

Peter L.

Yelp
Funny they would have the gall to require a credit card number and threaten to charge $25 a head for cancellation and then cancel my reservation same day with no explanation. Something obviously very wrong over there.

Deina C.

Yelp
This place was very elegant! If you're looking for a nice dinner place that you can dress up and have a good time this is definitely the restaurant for you. The food was amazing. We had the steak frites and the cheese platter it was delicious.

Shannon C.

Yelp
Shared a delicious birthday meal here and was very satisfied. I was very happy to know the bar had some dessert sambuca because I was to full to actually get the dessert. I will definitely be back here. The ambiance was particularly special.

Justin S.

Yelp
Amazing spot. The old inn has such a special New England feel. Great service and great food but it really is the ambiance that sets this place apart from everything else in Stowe.

Jose R.

Yelp
Spot on service and great food to enjoy with family and friends. Make sure that you make a timely reservation. We were 6 at the table and everyone was really satisfied.

George R.

Yelp
This has a very pleasant outdoor setting. In past years the food has been good. Something went wrong this year. I ordered the duck which was highly recommended by the waitress. It was tough and tasteless. Two of my friends ordered the fish and it was dried out. Another friend ordered the salad and it was excellent. So the restaurant is hit or miss. it is also extremely expensive and for the prices I think you should expect a good meal every time .The. restaurant has been riding on its past reputation.

Kimmy L.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that this inn and property are straight out of a fairytale, with ponies and all. The decor is beautiful and modern with touches of whimsy. I'll split the restaurant review and the inn review into two parts. Food: The inn has a formal dining space and a tavern below. The tavern is super cozy and perfect for a post-ski drink. The bartender is very talented, and his creativity really shows. Dining in the upstairs area is such a treat, especially with the fairy lights and nature inspired decor. I had the elk osso buco and deviled duck eggs (both flavorful and very different), although I've heard the jalapeño crab cakes are the must-have appetizer. Inn: If you're staying in one of the cabins, the rooms often have a fireplace. My friends and I roasted hot dogs over the open fire while sipping wine. It was a lovely place to come back to, so warm and relaxing! The rooms also have very new chrome pieces in the bathroom, so it gave a modern-classic fusion vibe. It was also delightful to have so many activities at the actual inn, like the cross country ski routes or the horses in the barn. We also went sledding down the hills near the inn - super fun for kids or honestly, adults too!

R R.

Yelp
*Sigh* I hate that I have to write this review, but it's absolutely necessary so people are well informed of what they are getting themselves into and can make the best decision for themselves. I've been here in summer and now in the winter for dinner. The reviews are spot on that this place is beautiful and the food is very good. In the summer they had outdoor tables spaced apart and in Covid times it provided for a very relaxing and safe environment. As of the writing of this review in the winter of 2021-22, fully aware that dining can only be done indoors in chilly Stowe, the restaurant is surprisingly taking no visible safety measures related to Covid. None of the staff are wearing masks and the host/manager has no qualms about seating parties VERY close together. You should have zero expectations with respect to social distancing here. Even their website makes no mention of Covid safety measures. I felt like I was accidentally at a "no Covid rules"speakeasy. The food is still very good and the space, both indoors and outdoors is picturesque. If you have zero concerns about Covid and view the lack of masks or spacing as freeing then you will have a great time. If you have Covid concerns then this will not be a relaxing meal for you this winter. FYI - There are other high end restaurants in Stowe taking better precautions that will make for a more relaxing meal for Covid conscious customers.

Yelp
Perfection. Yes, it's pricey, but it's very worth it if your budget allows. And there aren't any hidden fees or charges for "extras." Every single person working here delivers exceptional, personalized service. They welcome you with a genuine hospitality, and it seems like everyone on the property, from the welcome desk to the waitstaff to the housekeeping staff are determined to make certain that you enjoy your stay. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we were beyond pleased with our decision. We hoped for a place we'd want to return to again for special occasions, and without a doubt, this is it. It's been three and a half months, and we still keep talking about our time there. The (included!) breakfasts are incredible - especially the chorizo and sweet potato hash. The food is so wonderful, and the dinner offerings in the dining room and in the tavern are expertly designed and still reasonably priced. There are outdoor activities available too - we really enjoyed snowshoeing with a expert guide. As for atmosphere, I could never say enough good things. We were there in winter, and the property is breathtakingly beautiful in the snow. We stayed in one of the guest houses, and they're both comfortable and stylishly decorated. Huge fluffy bed, heated bathroom floors, mini-fridge available if you request one, ample floor space. The fireplace was a stand out feature, and was so easy to light with a single match every night as housekeeping prepared the fireplace each day and keep us well supplied with wood. In the manor house, the decor is just as perfect - a mix of old and new that gives off great vibes. 10 stars if I could give them!

Yelp
Excellent fine dining in Stowe. Main dining room or pub downstairs . Wonderful, charming atmosphere. One of our favorites.

Yelp
Edson Hill had great potential, but failed to deliver. The photos make the grounds and rooms appear beautiful, and indeed they are. The grounds offer stunning countryside views, and I regret that we didn't have time to explore the grounds during our short stay. The room was also well designed. Two of the owners are interior designers and it clearly shows. The furniture looked fantastic, but the dresser was rickety and drawers were difficult to open. Our room was upstairs, directly above the kitchen. To access it, we had to go through the common living room, through the restaurant, and up a narrow set of stairs. The stairs were right next to the kitchen door, so we had to dodge servers as we came and went. We came at the end of a long road trip and struggled pulling oversized bags through the carpeted obstacle course to our room. I'm shocked the owners didn't think to remedy this by rerouting the staircase to the front of the building. If you do visit Edson Hill, avoid the Manor House rooms. The cottage rooms were very close to the manor, offered ground floors, and had drive up access. I wish I had known about the stairs as I would have booked one of those instead. We complained upon checkout to the front desk about the stairs not being noted on the website, and their response was that we should have called to book. I was looking forward to the breakfast at Edson Hill based on the strong reviews the restaurant receives, and the enticing dinner menu. Sadly, it was an utter disappointment. The paltry buffet consisted of French toast, scrambled eggs, home fries, and bacon. All of which were dry, flavorless, and in short supply. Some other items were available from the kitchen by request, but there was no written menu identifying the options. The service was short staffed for the number of guests, and as a result we were repeatedly brought another tables order and were done with our breakfast by the time the coffee came out--with a $7 up charge for decaf. Perhaps things are better mid-week as I overheard another guess staying for longer ask when the normal menu-based breakfast service would return. Overall, Edson Hill had great potential that was squandered through mismanagement. This was our first visit to Stowe, and I loved the area. We'll just find someplace better run for our next stay.

Yelp
Simply Elegant! This was a great place for us to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere in the dining room was quiet and intimate. Customer service was stellar! The view was spectacular, and the food was beyond amazing. Edson Hill totally exceeded our expectations. If I could rate it higher I would! Highly recommend and would most certainly return.

Yelp
Hands down the best restaurant in the Stowe area. Their seasonal changing menus are always to die for. Service is amazing, everybody is extremely hospitable. The view is almost as good as the food. And the cocktails are a must try! Blue crab toast and scallop ceviche were AMAZING!

Yelp
Charming place with charming decor, very quite area in the middle of the wood. An Auberge and a restaurant. Its a good destination for a group who are looking fir a fancy dinner or a romantic couple gateway . We were welcomed at the entrance an guided to our table. The service is professional, classy and our hostess very polite and helpful. We had a small selection if small plates as starters. Really liked the fried cauliflower. The salads are refreshing not a wow factor but quite nice selection of micro greens. I had a grapefruit sparkling drink , really complements the starters. I ordered the scallops on a bed of pea risotto and asparagus. Cooked to perfection, the risotto creamy as i liked it. Generous portion and nice presentation. I pared it with nice Italian wine. Its not cheap as place but you pay for premium culinary experience and a charming place. I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Cozy beyond belief. Drive away from the bustle of Stowe and up a long hill past old sugar maples and barns cloaked in snow. You'll find a hygge hideaway, a wonderland of delicious food and warm service. If you're not staying here, you'll wish you were. The duck confit toast was a highlight. We'll be back to stay sometime soon!

Yelp
This review pertains to our experience at the restaurant only. The food was excellent - had the Brussels, cheese board, and rib eye. Drinks were also good - especially the purple haze. The service was excellent. The ambience is cozy and views are beautiful from the dining room. The library adjacent to the dining room was cozy with a large fire place, comfy chairs, and games to play.

Yelp
My wife and I went here for dinner on our honeymoon. I was hoping for a nice romantic meal. The restaurant is quiet nice but everything else wasn't great from what I read on other reviews. The waitress didn't really know much about what was been served on the menu. We asked for a side of vegetables with our main course she said that there is lots of vegetables that come with it. I got half a carrot and a little cabbage. I just don't think she wanted to ask the chef to do a little side plate. The food was ok nothing special and I think small portions. Wasn't happy at all with the service from start to finish.

Yelp
In one word, magical. We stayed at Edson Hill for 3 nights in room 24 and loved every second. The soaking tub was perfect and fits two relatively comfortably with a view of the fireplace. The horses are beautiful, snowshoeing trails amazing. The dinner we had at the restaurant was the best meal we had our whole stay. We can't wait to return. The only tip I would give is if there has been recent snow to make sure your vehicle has four wheel drive as I don't know if we would have made it up the hill otherwise.

Yelp
First time here, it was great, staff was so friendly and engaging. Drinks were made perfectly! Food was delicious. We had the cheese board, cheese arancini, and kale-Kopita! Everything was amazing. The environment was cozy, rustic, and beautiful. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I stayed at Edson Hill in the winter the last weekend of the ski season. I was so happy that we got snow that weekend and I'm sure that it was all down to the hospitality of this wonderful venue. From the moment I arrived I felt totally relaxed and cared for. The rooms were decorated in the most gorgeous cabin style. So much so that I actually copied a few things and that is the highest form of a compliment. The fire burning, the heated floors, the gorgeous beds made our stay luxurious. Each morning we had a beautiful breakfast prepared by a very skilled chef and I had something different every day. We did however try to go out so out of the resort for dinner a couple of times but we ended up back at our favorite table in the restaurant at EdsonHill. The food was exquisite! Each afternoon we had a little happy hour at the bar and then we would retire to the fireplace in the Gathering area to play scrabble. We even had a history lesson and a great visit with one of the ski instructors there. Every day we had a walk on the fresh fallen snow and it was absolutely breathtaking. The grounds were just immaculately kept and with the fresh snow on the ground it made for a lovely photo shoot. We also loved petting and treating the horses to apples so I guess you could say we got equine therapy while we were there as well. If you book into Edson Hill you will not be disappointed!
