I promised myself to do only positive reviews into 2025 but this experience has to be shared. Booked a table for 2 for New Years Eve for the first time in years. Wish I hadn't bothered. Ordered bread to start with including butter and olive oil mix. Brown bread was rock hard. Main course arrived and I had to move the starter plates to one side.... Main courses ordered - Gnocci in a cheese sauce (tasteless), Pork Belly with a redcurrant jus and apple sauce. Utterly tasteless and for appx £24 you would expect some vegetables. No, that was an additional £4.75appx. Left most of it but was still asked if you enjoyed that, I was lost for words. We decided not to bother with desserts or coffee. And all this for a pre-paid £10 deposit each. All in all £60 wasted. I won't be returning. I cannot fault the service but value wise this restaurant is outrageous selling poor food at exorbitant prices. Thanks for a poor New Years Eve experience.

Excellent service from very welcoming staff. We ate early as play tickets booked. Pan-fried chicken and steak, sloe gin, passion cheesecake and chocolate brownie. Would definitely eat here again.

Having been here previously just after lockdown. Visited today and had a wonderful time. Food was exceptional as per usual, staff were great and added to the meal. Can't wait to come again.

We came here from the US and Korea to visit Shakespeare Village. We were worried about parking, but this restaurant's female server helped us with parking. After finishing the village tour, we were wondering where to eat dinner, and without hesitation, we came to this restaurant where the female server helped us. The restaurant staff welcomed us back warmly. The food was great, the service was the best I've ever had during my trip to England, and the price was reasonable for the fancy food. We plan to visit this restaurant again next year when we visit England again. Thank you to the female server and the restaurant for providing the best food and service👍

Outstanding in every way, Starting as you walk through the door. We were seated and almost immediately, we got a jug of cold tap water. Our waitress was Laura, and how lucky we were! From the time we ordered, she was always around, but with no pressure, and everything was explained. The food arrived with great gaps between the first course, main course, and desserts. The food was delicious and arrived hot. Thank you, Laura, we had a great time. 5+*

Visited Stratford for work, decided to come here. Am a vegetarian, they have 3 options on the main menu, and some starters too. I had the halloumi and beetroot salad which was fantastic, then the butternut squash and chickpea curry which was equally amazing. Concluded with a lovely dessert. Laura who was our server was absolutely fantastic, and worth her weight in gold! Really recommend this place!

Laura our server was an absolute delight! To be honest, all the ladies who served us were. Lauren had such a friendly and kind manor about her and even completed my phone after she saw we had the same! The food was sensation, I had the turkey, and the overall christmas atmosphere of the restaurant was adorable and festive. If I lived anywhere near, I would make this my regular.

Was able to sit without a reservation, but time was limited. I knew this knowing that I would finish before they needed the table. Started with black pudding scotch egg. Good twist on this but the outer shell was so thin that when it was deep fried it was left a bit too crispy. Had the pork belly for main. The potatoes were good and the apple sauce was as flavourful, but most of the pork was dry. I really liked the pork crackling.

Yelp
We chose this restaurant based on previous Yelp reviewers, and we are happy we did. We had a delicious meal of salmon and steak. The restaurant was warm and lovely. Our server (sorry, don't know his name but he was a handsome man who appeared to be of Indian descent), was the best server we've come across in all of our travels. The price of food was also decidedly inexpensive considering that Stratford Upon Avon is such a huge tourist destination. We suggest you book your table. Since we were there on a weeknight, we got kind of lucky getting a table. The only negative aspect was that the facility was quite warm and the fan above us did not work. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Yelp
3 times a charm! We thought we'd be safe scoring a table for 4 for dinner at 5:30 PM, but apparently we forgot about the theater crowd in Stratford. After being turned away from 2 restaurants we found a good meal at Edward Moon. My meal... Appetizer: Crab/shrimp cocktail. It was covered in mayo (ick!) and therefore inedible. Don't order unless you're a mayo fan. Entrée: Seabass. Covered in lots of cream, but fortunately I liked this cream sauce a lot more than I like mayo. It was also served on a bed of spring onion risotto, which was even better than the actual seabass. Dessert: The Americans at the table decided on apple pie- go figure. While the one Brit at the table decided on some sort of banana pie. Both desserts were equally incredible, but the real winner of the evening was the hot chocolate with irish bailey. By far the best hot chocolate I've ever had....and it helped me sleep like a baby on the train going back to London right after our meal.

Yelp
Walking the streets of a 16th century village is hard work and it builds a great hunger and thirst. And here on the main street is Edward Moon's, looking like a 19th century brasserie on the outside! Lunch is served. Pleasantly greeted and brought to a table by the window, where we could watch the world walk by as we enjoyed our meal. A nice list of specials on the blackboard, plus a "special" menu with the regular menu. My traveling companion opted for the scampi, which was cooked in the English style of a breaded fish nugget and served with chips. I went with the two course meal, choosing a pate and relish starter and a burger as my main. The pate was quite strong and the relish cut it well. The burger was a bit on the plain side as were the chips. No draught beers, but they did have a reasonable selection of bottled offerings. I chose the Leffe, a Belgian favorite. The prices were decent, especially considering this is a fancy sit-down restaurant on the 'main drag' of Shakespeare's village.

Yelp
Edward Moon, you have swooned me to my knees. What a superb find which was right across from my hotel. This place has a very European flair with just enough class. The service was excellent and it was one of the best impromptu dinners on my trip! They had a great selection of drinks; however, no local beers which was a disappointment for the group. But, I am a cider lover at heart and I fell in love with the Wyld Wood Organic Medium Dry Sparkling Cider from Westons. Just the right amount of sweetness. For dinner, I enjoyed the butternut squash and coconut curry which was the perfect meal for a rainy day. The dish comes with smashed potatoes, rather than traditional rice. The UK sure loves their potatoes. I also sampled the grilled fillet of seabass which was decadent! I wanted more, but someone already finished their plate... For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding. Hands down, one of the best I have had. If only they could deliver to Canada.

Yelp
Slightly stuffy restaurant, with the most appealing looking menu of all the ones on the recommended list I had for Stratford, and despite the threat of a pre-theatre crowd (of which I was one), quite empty when I arrived at the 5 PM opening time, and not entirely full when I left at 6 (plenty of time to waddle back a quarter mile to the RSC for a 7 pm show). I had a "sirloin of bacon", which came with black pudding, very tasty stuff, plus peas and very crispy chips (the thick kind we'd call steak fries in the US).

Yelp
Solid food, excellent prices in the heart of touristy England. (I am one so I know). Fresh soups, local butcher shoppe, good soups and good service. Desserts and a touch of Muscat hit the spot as well. A win win situation for all! They will not rush you checking out so if in a hurry be sure to ask for the check. Some call this "slow" but I call it "time to linger over coffee and conversation..."

Yelp
We were staying at the Legacy Falcon Hotel just down the road (opposite where Shakespeare popped his clogs at Nash's house) and met a couple who'd returned every year for the last 5 years and dined at Moon's so decided to check it out. It's a really nice and cosy restaurant with great food. Being so close to the hotel and me and wife #1 (that's first wife, I'm techie so version control) ended up eating here several times. Let's start with one of the specials they had on - steak in peppercorn sauce. Now, imagine a really chilled out cow chewing on it's cud along the banks of the Avon minding it's own business. The chef heads in to the field and shaves it's ass and puts a few rare slices on to your plate. A good vet could resuscitate it. Succulent doesn't do it merit. I've had more trouble cutting through butter with a hot knife than this beef. Utterly awesome and not a bit of gristle in sight from this ultra-chilled cow buttock that by some miracle found it's way on to a plate in front on me. We also tried the duck roll starter (hoi sin sauce, pancakes, crispy seaweed aka. cabbage) - utterly amazing, especially considering it's an English food restaurant. Wife #1 also tried the chicken paté and said it was to die for, presumably waiting until after you've eaten it before going to meet your maker. Then there was the duck main course which was also amazing. How they found a duck with so much lean meat on it I have no idea. It seems this place is incapable of making bad food. Highly recommended eatery, especially if you're staying within staggering distance of the place. My only quibbles are: 1. The dauphinoise potatoes are a tad too cheesey - they should be creamy, not cheesey. The cheeseyness sometimes detracts from the otherwise perfect meals. Hence 4 stars. 2. They should relocate to Warrington so I don't have to travel for 2.5 hours down the M6/M40 to get good food. Tip: Book in advance if you want to ensure you get to experience this place. It's always packed - even at lunch time.

Yelp
On vacation in the UK, we walked the streets in Stratford-upon-Avon, looking at menus in windows. The variety and interest of the entrees at Edward Moon's was best, so we went back for dinner. Wow, are we glad we did, because it was the best meal we had in the UK! It's great when the biggest problem you have with a restaurant is too many delicious meals to choose from. I chose "The Duck Supper," and my wife loved the Spitfire Pie. One of our friends had Barry the Butcher's Best Bangers, and we all loved our meals, including the appetizers. Again, there were so many wonderful items to choose from, we wish we had time to go back. Our waiter, a black man from Paris, was extremely helpful in choosing food and wine and had a wonderful, jovial personality. The Chateau Courac Cotes du Rhone was excellent. Although we may never be able to visit Stratford-upon-Avon again, we would return to Edward Moon's in a heartbeat!

Yelp
A fantastic experience, from start to dessert. Very friendly staff with great service. The food couldn't have been better, and everything suggested was topnotch, especially the banoffee pie.

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasion and I have to say we have never been disappointed. The food is superb and the staff are very friendly and always go the extra mile to make your meal special. I have recommended Edwards Moons to a few friends and they have also been impressed. Will hopefully be returning soon

Yelp
Food is fine, steak is over cooked a little bit. But what is the problem with the black waiter? Bad manner makes us down!
