Eef Resort offers amazing beach views with outdoor showers, affordable nighly prices, and one of the best breakfast menus I've seen in 2-3 star hotels. They also have a great yakiniku experience in the late afternoon. The onsen is very relaxing and offers a first hand view of the Pacific Ocean. Rooms have powerful AC units, minimizing the natural Pacific heat and humidity.
However, the beds were hard as a rock, and there was severe mold in the lobby roof. Customer service, though not bad, was not very helpful. The bar was often closed during the weekend (no clear signs anywhere for hours of operation), and despite having vouchers for free drinks and ice cream, we only discovered them at checkout since they did not mention them during check-in. We couldn't use them as the convenience store was closed when we were checking out of the hotel. The bartender serving drinks during one of the few times they opened the bar, did no know how to prepare any drink and had to leave the bar to find someone in the kitchen area to help with bar duties, Additionally, the outside of the hotel needs a deep clean as it looks abandoned.
In summary, Eef Resort can be a decent option for a couple of nights in Kumejima, but keep your expectations low.
