I arrived on the first flight after the two cyclones and naturally the city was in a terrible state. Now that said the locals were cleaning up in their own positive way and they welcomed me. I stayed some days in Port Vila as well as on the island of Pele, which does not have electricity or running water. The city offers great food choices and a wide array of pleasure activities but the islands offer beach combing, snorkelling and fishing. Pele island is best described as rustic and beautiful.

Efate was home for us for a few years, always a pleasure to come back to this beautiful island and it's inhabitants. So much natural beauty, and a lovely place to holiday if you like the beach, swimming and snorkelling.

Loved Vanuatu, and wish we'd been here longer than the just for one day. P&O Island Hopper Cruise. We went to the turtle sanctuary, blue lagoon and a beautiful waterfall. Can not find the name of the place, so would recommend you speaking with a bus/taxi driver and asking to be taken to the waterfall where the locals go to. Take a picture of mine to show them.

The only issues are the roads and the price of food in stores. Otherwise this is an Island and people that are so welcoming and friendly.

A great, friendly island to visit for a vacation. We found the people to be friendly, the weather was co-operative for September, the eating out was enjoyable with some (but not many) vegetarian options. We golfed, we drank Kava, we were invited to church in a village, we tried new (to us) foods from the markets, went on lots of walks, went to an outdoor music festival and so much more. We experienced a different pace of life. It was a cultural experience for me, and I would definitely recommend.
