Efstidalur II

We've only been to the restaurant. Perfect place for a lunch break on the Golden Circle. The food is good, the prices are contained, the place is charming (cosy room, view on the cows in the stables, jumping bag outside). The soup buffet is a brilliant option if you don't want to wait at all. Overall, infinitely better than the overcrowded cafeterias next to the main tourist attractions. We didn't like the ice cream at all, except the skyr flavour (that was delicious).

My wife and I did a self-guided tour of the South Coast and Golden Circle and decided to break the Golden Circle portion into two days. We were lucky to find Efstidalur Farm Hotel near the Brúarfoss trail head beween Geysir and Thingvellir. ||The room was clean and comfortable, with attractive wood panelling and a small patio facing a central courtyard. The grounds are beautiful, with a pasture for horses, a barn for the cows, an onsite restaurant, and a small shop with homemade ice cream. We had dinner and breakfast at the onsite restaurant - neither meal was especially memorable but both served the purpose. ||I would definitely recommend Efstidalur to anyone interested in spending the night on the Golden Circle route.

A wonderful place. Strategically located for exploring Iceland. Friendly service, pleasant people. Gluten-free options available. Excellent steaks and luxurious burgers. I recommend visiting this establishment.

If you’re traveling through Iceland’s Golden Circle and think you’re just stopping for ice cream, think again. Efstidalur II is not just an ice cream store — it’s an experience. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm scent of fresh dairy, but what truly sets this place apart is the view: cows calmly grazing (or strolling) just beyond the glass. There’s something beautifully authentic about enjoying ice cream made from the very milk produced on the farm — while watching the source of it all in real time. It’s farm-to-cone in the most literal and charming way possible. The ambience is rustic yet cozy. Wooden interiors, large windows overlooking the barns and countryside, and a relaxed atmosphere make it feel both local and magical. It’s casual, unpretentious, and deeply Icelandic — the kind of place that makes you slow down and smile. And the ice cream? Creamy, rich, and incredibly fresh. You can taste the quality. Every scoop feels indulgent yet wholesome, crafted with care and pride. Efstidalur II isn’t just a stop for dessert — it’s a memory. A unique blend of agriculture, craftsmanship, and hospitality that captures the spirit of Iceland in the sweetest way possible.

I did not eat at the restaurant or stay at the accommodations but did stop by for ice cream. The ice cream was excellent and recommend if nothing else when visiting this area at least stopping as this is a nice family owned farm with quality ice cream. I really liked that the spoons were edible and biodegradable. The spoons did not break down eating the ice cream. It was really interesting. To see the cows through the window in the eating area. I will definitely stop here again when visiting Iceland again.

We had a fabulous experience here, where we came for dinner mid December. Service was excellent, food was unbelievable (gravlax special and amazing burgers). Great beer on tap. Lovely ice cream. Cannot fault it! Thank you all.

Unique location and setting. Kind staff and good food. You taste the quality beef, cheese and icecream. Went here 10 years ago. Still remembered the fun ambiance. Well recommended

Just went to get ice cream. Seeing the cows through the window was an added bonus. You are greeted by the friendly farm dogs when you pull up. Also the spoons are edible.
