We met some friends for lunch that we had not seen for 38 years. Dave was extremely patient while we launched into memories before asking for our order. The service and the food were excellent! The decor of the old inn were wonderful. The steak and ale pie was superb. We would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Make sure you Book your lunchtime though as it gets busy.

Chipping Campden is a great town. Quintessential England and not too over run with tourists. The Eight Bells is the best of English pubs. Great atmosphere, great food and a great selection of beers. Best of all is the staff - friendly and accommodating. Well worth a visit. Better still stay there and chat with the locals.

We had dinner at The Eight Bells and were very satisfied. The servers were very friendly and attentive. It didn't take very long at all for us to get our food and the servers were very friendly and attentive. We had booked in advance, which I think was good. I would eat here again and recommend it to anyone for a very pleasant dining experience!

Google
5 stars for food too. We booked a large family dinner and the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was great too. I didn't stay the night so no review of the rooms.

We had been visiting Little Oaks winery for wine tasting and they recommended the Eight Bells for a late lunch. Just a short drive away and we managed to park, even though there was a wedding at the church up the road. Made very welcome by friendly staff. The men went to the bar to check out the beer choice and were pleased to see that Hawkstone was on tap. We chose that on the recommendation of the knowledgable barman. Menu selection was great and sensibly priced. Our order was taken quickly and arrived speedily. We had the pie, fish and chips and chicken Caesar salad. All arrived hot and were very tasty. After a couple more drinks we left as the wedding party were beginning to arrive for their barbecue in the garden. Lovely quaint pub with uneven floors and low ceilings, lots of different places to eat or drink. Very attentive staff. We will be back.

We’re currently on holiday here when we arrived the staff were friendly! Food was excellent and service was amazing. The pub had a good atmosphere and was very busy and therefore very loud. Whilst we were there another dog barked so our dog decided to bark back. A very rude woman with glasses (I believe the owner) was telling both dogs to shush. I took our dog outside as we were paying our bill anyway, to later found out that this woman had rudely told my mum to take the dog outside. The owner of the other dog was also told to go outside even though they had only just walked in. If you don’t like animals and expect them to stay silent the entire time in a busy and loud environment where they can get very overstimulated then don’t allow them into your pub. Simple as that! People with dogs shouldn’t be punished for them barking at each other and definitely shouldn’t be spoken to in such a rude manner. The rest of the staff were lovely and accommodating to the animals and were happy for them to be there. Shame the woman (possibly the owner) isn’t as nice.

We popped in for a light lunch and what a great find! Such tasty sandwiches in warm soft ciabatta , and my husband enjoyed sampling a pint of local beer. Lovely atmosphere and service with a smile. Definitely recommend!

Google
The service at this pub was very friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant visit. The food was okay — decent but nothing particularly memorable. In a region where many gastropubs set a high bar, the dishes here felt somewhat average by comparison. Still, it's a solid place overall, and there's nothing major to complain about. Just don’t expect anything exceptional. A good spot for a casual meal if you're nearby.

Yelp
We found the Eight Bells to be an outstanding pub when we stopped here on our Cotswolds walks. We had excellent Sunday roast with Yorkshire puddings, perfectly prepared roasted root vegetables, mash, and cabbage. The carrots and parsnips were so good, we ordered a second helping of them. It had outstanding cask ales - we got the Old Hooky from Hook Norton. Service was great and friendly. It's in a lovely old stone building with much character.

Yelp
Food, service & ambience all top notch. You want an English pub? You really can't do much better than this, and I've been to a bunch. The ham/chicken/leek pie is superb.

Yelp
Very standard pub food but nothing to write home about - our party had uniformly bland main dishes - but beer variety and quality was good. If you're staying at the Inn it's likely worth the convenience especially if you arrive in town without plans for dinner but otherwise there are better options.

Yelp
Just had a great lunch here today, 17th November, for my birthday - what a treat. Fabulous pub, crackling fire and atmosphere, great attentive service and lovely locally sourced food. What more can you ask for on a crisp autumn day. Haven't been in here before, but we'll be back! Thank you.

Yelp
Really enjoyed an early couples dinner at Eight Bells in late September. Staff was friendly, food was great, and setting was unbeatable. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
We had a delicious dinner at Eight Bells Inn. Our group of four had no issue getting a table on Sunday night at 7pm. Granted, it is the last weekend in November, but we got right in. We started with an order of the mushroom starter and ordered the Pork dish for our main. The mushroom dish was flavorful and very rich. The pork main was also delicious. The sauce was excellent as were the potatoes. Add an order of the bread and butter to mop up the left over sauce and you are good to go. We wrapped up our meal with an order of the Baileys Cheesecake. Very tasty and not as sweet as a US dessert would be. The service was also excellent. Two lovely ladies helped us out and were very friendly.

Yelp
A quaint pub with a great atmosphere. The food we had for lunch was also very good. Good place to eat if you are in the area

Yelp
My family and I had a wonderful, leisurely meal. I would definitely be going back here. For a starter we had a fried Hammond cheese dish which we shared and was gone immediately. It was awesome. I had the fish and chips since I had not had fish and chips in England yet. It was very good and my daughter who does not like fish said she could and would eat it. My wife had the beef stroganoff which had a delightful sauce. One of my daughters had the hamburger which had a different texture (likely more finely ground) than the US so she did not like it as well as the US but I think that is more of a textural issue for her. The taste was very good. My other daughter had the Spaghetti peperonata with salsas verde as a meal and it was outstanding. For desert we tried the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate parfait. Both were excellent. I also had the three cheeses which were locally sourced with port. I would definitely go back here if I were in town. Of note, the first night we tried to go it was full so I would recommend reservations during a busy holiday time.

Yelp
Excellent food and a friendly and helpful staff! The sticky toffee pudding is amazing!

Yelp
I gave this place 5 stars not only for the staff, food and service but because I felt they represented a top notch establishment! If you have the opportunity to stay a night or two or eat a great meal or just to grab a drink, it would be worth it. Great historical location and bar!

Yelp
Ate dinner here on our recent stay in Chipping Campden and so glad we did. We chose to sit on the pub side of the building. The food was excellent and the atmosphere great. The pork medallions were marvelous and the sticky toffee pudding was over the top! Prices were a little steep but the exchange rate didn't help much. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Really good. My wife had pork roast. Great meal. Amazing veg. Excellent gravy. I had the lamb saddle. Very tasty. Desserts were good too. Lamb was overlooked. Lamb should be a bit rare, no? That plus service (a bit slow) keeps it from 5 stars. Still. Best place we ate in Chipping Camden.

We had a great lunch at Eight Bells. We really appreciated the vegan and vegetarian options. The atmosphere and service were great too. I recommend making a reservation for dinner

Yelp
Had dinner in the dining room here and it was really lovely. Lovely old building with quaint decor. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Food was good, delectable lamb chops and buttery battered fish, although the chips were a bit softer than I like them. For dessert we had the lemon and raspberry dish (can't remember the name but it's like a panna cotta) which was really nice. Definitely recommend this place for dinner or lunch.

Yelp
Amazing service and great fire! Marie, Sara and Jason are fantastic. Wife and I stayed here three days. Quite charming. Great food.

Yelp
The soup was piping hot and very satisfying. The 3 main courses that were served to our table were all excellent. They also have delicious chips here, if you're so inclined. Good selection of beer and the house wines were nice. The atmosphere in the pub was made up of mostly local people and they were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Excellent service too. Fun night! So glad we reserved a table the night before.

Yelp
A lovely 17th Century Pub, with great locally sourced food and a friendly, helpful staff. Make reservations early because they book up on weekends and holidays and I'd guess during the week too! We look forward to visiting again soon!

Yelp
Apparently the only restaurant open on Sunday evenings in Chipping Campden. We barely got a table for two. Ordered their vegetable soup as a starter. Well...nowhere did it mention in menu or by the server that the soup was in fact pureed. Had a nice flavor and was hot but not outstanding. We shared their Sunday beef roast with gravy, yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, roasted potato. Side of mashed carrots (gross) and cabbage & pea salad. The entree was reminiscent of a TV dinner. The meat was gristly, fatty, and difficult to chew. The yorkshire pudding had several grease slicks and tasted like a deep-fried funnel cake minus the powdered sugar. The gravy and mashed potatoes were tepid in temp and bland in flavor. The roasted potatoes were overly greasy as well-tasted deep fried, not roasted. Wanted to try their sticky toffee pudding but was too disappointed with mains. So...we asked for bill and it had an extra 5 things on it we didn't order. This included a glass of wine, a cider, a beer, and an extra entree for the gamy beef dinner. Pleasant enough waitress who corrected it but not a whiff of an apology. Now, this was our first English Sunday Roast dinner but come on. This was really not good or a good value. Sad to say we finished our meal as we're being screwed by the exchange rate and hate to waste money. We had a better meal at McDonalds on the way to the Coltswolds than here. I'm hoping to try another roast dinner here in England to get this bad taste out of my mouth!

We had a very good meal! The beer was excellent! The patio out back was nice for lunch during a nice summer day.

Yelp
After a long day of walking this place offered a warm welcome. It was busy on a Wednesday evening and I lucked into a table on the pub side available for about 80 minutes before a reservation. I ordered the pate starter. Delicious and served with a house chutney. Instead of a main I choose another starter. Local asparagus with a lemon butter sauce topped by a poached egg. Fantastic. They will also for a few pounds more increase any starter to an entree size. I followed all of this with a lemon custard topped with raspberry purée and shortbread. Wow! Service was wonderful. Food fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Yelp
This is a sweet pub in a very pretty Cotswold village actually right in the heart of the Cotswolds. The staff are very friendly and the food is of good quality. I would highly recommend the chicken pie, which was rich and delicious and served in a very good portion. They have rooms which you can stay in. We stayed in the most expensive room with DVD, the problem was that the end of the bed obscured the tv. The breakfast wasn't of the same standard as the lunch and dinner menu but all in all it is a good pub.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, food and service. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a gastro pub meal.
