Eight Portofino

My husband and I stayed at the Eight Hotel in early July 2025. The hotel was AMAZING. We were in a Deluxe Room, recently renovated with high quality finishings and designs like the White Lotus. The luxurious black marble bathroom had dual sinks, and a heated floor. The location is extraordinary, just 2 blocks from the port/pizetta. The shuttle service to the beach was very timely and comfortable. The beaches are a 4-5 minute drive, and all three main beaches (Dior, Dolce, and the Eight are all next to each other). Breakfast was good. The guests appeared to be mostly couples. The staff were nice, especially Ricardo. This is a boutique hotel with 8 floors. I think this is the best Hotel in Portofino, a true 5 star boutique hotel, if you do not want to spring for the Splendido. The Eight hotel is a one hour drive from the Genoa airport, given the roadways, and the taxi cost is around 175-225 Euros. There are no Ubers in Portofino, so taxis are the only possibilities. I would stay at the Eight again, either in Portofino or other Italian cities where the Eight has hotels.

Just had two nights at this fabulous hotel and wish it was longer! The attention to detail everywhere is amazing. Just a short 5 min stroll into Portofino harbor with all its shops bars and restaurants and then to return to a little slice of heaven. The bed was so comfortable and the room so quiet. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic with a range of everything you could wish for all exquisite the fresh bread was still warm! The Dyson hairdryer was an extra touch of luxury. Definitely hope to return one day.

This is by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We paid $1700 per night for a room that did NOT have a shower. When we went to the front desk we were told there was nothing they could do except allow us to shower in their spa. The hotel front desk clerk was rude and acted like she was doing us a favor. Do NOT STAY THERE THE WORST PLACE AND OVERPRICED ABS SMELLED

If you’re looking for location right by Portofino Marina then this is your place. There is NO shower in the rooms, only a huge tub with old style faucets, this was a huge disadvantage. The tussue box in the bathroom was empty. We weren’t given the WiFi password at check in until we called to ask and we also did not receive the free spa service and we weren’t offered any! It’s way too expensive for what we got! I don’t recommend staying there. Saint Margherita Ligure hotels are much better with better services and amenities. Also, the breakfast was very poor, no varieties and the toaster oven wasn’t working. I won’t stay there again for sure . Thanks

It’s an absolute shocker that this hotel is part of Small Luxury Hotels. There’s nothing luxury about it except for the price. Room was tiny - one could barely access the left side of the bed. Bed mattress is extremely poor quality, you feel the springs. Bathroom is dirty, walls have badly made touch-ups all over the place, wardrobe doors are fitting for a hostel. They’ve seemingly updated an old full bath screen with a partial one, but forgot to remove the glue and marks from the old one. The cleaning is abysmal. Bathrobes are old and broken.

What an amazing small luxury hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel, the decor is very well thought out and classy. My room was fairly small, but had everything we needed, everything worked just fine, the bed was super comfortable, the dyson hair dryer a great surprise. The sauna and steam room were also very relaxing. Breakfast had plenty of cold and hot selections and all was of great fresh quality. All in all a wonderful stay and we will certainly be back, but what really stood out is its staff. They are all so friendly while maintaining high professional standards. The location is great, the personnel is very attentive. But you can hear your neighbor’s iPhone alarm iPhone ringing with 2 doors closed.. the doors are absolutely not soundproof, to the point that you are wondering if it is open! The room quality is so so (see pictures) the TV was not operable. It’s a good hotel but not a 5 star, not worth almost a 1000 euros a night!

My second time in Portofino, choosing Eight hotel was the best idea. The location and rooms are amazing. the staff were friendly and welcoming. The price is a bit high but the atmosphere is nice and worth it.

AMERICA!!!!!!!!! Alas!!! We always win baby. Scammers on the loose at this FINE (sarcastic) establishment. Tricked us with the old switcheroo and screw you on the room. Why not charge my card for almost $10,000 in fraudulent charges and the gaslight me into thinking I'm wrong. DON'T play the nice Italian game with me buddy. After 90 days of numerous calls with the greatest bank on earth (Bank of America), they have erased these BOGUS charges. When you bank with America zero chance of getting taken by these thieves. Here are the eight's I give this hotel, 8 thumbs down, 8 mean employees, 8,000 dollars in charges, 8 days of crying my eyes out, 8 hours of therapy, below 800 credit score and 800 reasons to stay at the Splendido. On the eighth day of christmas, Jesus did NOT give us the eight hotel. My biggest wish next time we stay at the Belmond. We had the best time at the Belmond and their food was top notch. Please beware of this place as portofino is the trip of a lifetime.

Eight exceeded my expectations. The staff are fabulous, very attentive. The hotel is chic & clean and the location is quiet yet walking distance to town.

This hotel has the most amazing staff. I have never been felt so at home in any hotel anywhere in the world. They greet you with a smile and attend to your every need. They are genuinely nice and try their best to make your stay an amazing experience. The location is also wonderful.
