Yikes, we had an odd experience today at this particular Einstein's location. It was very busy, which was understandable for a Saturday morning, but the employees didn't seem to be working as a team. Before we ordered, I noticed a gentleman, who I believe is one of the managers, talking very firmly with another customer who asked a simple question.
When it was our turn to order, I explained to the female cashier that I had a coupon in my app for $7 for 6 bagels and a tub of cream cheese. I gave her my app to scan the coupon and explained that I wanted to use my balance on the app (you can preload a balance), and she scanned my card, but didn't apply my balance. It wasn't worth it, so we just paid with a card.
While we were waiting for our bagels, the manager began pointing at me and somewhat yelling at the female employee, saying that she's giving away too many cream cheese tubs for free. He went on for about a minute, pointing at me and yelling at her. He was looking right at me, so I tried to grab his attention to explain that we had a coupon for the bagels and cream cheese.
When he handed us our bagels, he aggressively said, "the cream cheese is on us today, but you're going to have to pay for it next time." I explained to him that we had a coupon. He just didn't get it - he thought we were trying to steal a $3 tub of cream cheese. I thought about offering to pay for it, since it was such a big deal, but we just wanted to get out of there.
It was such a weird and demeaning experience, we will not be returning to this particular location. The employees are much more respectful at the 6th and Wadsworth location.
