EKHO Lake House is located right over Bendi Wewa, which is part of the Parakrama Samudraya, and just a short walk from the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. The location is ideal if you’re planning to explore the ruins.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The garden is lush and green despite the scorching sun, and there's a lovely small infinity pool overlooking the lake. It’s always breezy, so you never feel the heat.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with modern bathrooms. Our rooms had DVD players that played a collection of old Sinhala and English instrumental songs in the background. Perfect to relax and fall asleep to after a long day of exploring.
The sunset views here are unreal. Watching the sun go down over Parakrama Samudraya was probably the highlight of our whole experience. It’s so calm, peaceful, and breathtaking.
The food is generally good, and the Sri Lankan dishes in particular are excellent. The service is exceptional. We were mainly served by Priyantha, Pradeep, and Shanika who were warm, helpful, and genuinely kind. They gave us useful advice about the best times to visit the ruins and what to expect from the weather.
This place has a quiet charm to it. It’s perfect for those who want to relax, slow down, and take in the beauty of Polonnaruwa.
