El Albergue Ollantaytambo

Beautiful room in a stunning hotel. Looking at the location you would be surprised at how, right next to the train station is this oasis of a hotel with lush greenery and birds. It is a bit of a walk to the old town but the hotel is so good and convenient to leave for Machu Pichu Pueblo. Food at the restaurant was good. I had an issue one day, so the next 2 days, they went all out to be nice to me.

A perfect hotel. We stayed here for two night and we’re so sad to leave. The service was so kind, the food is absolutely incredible, and it’s two steps to the train. Plus the BEAUTY is unmatched. Unlike at place I’ve been before. 11/10 place hotel. You won’t regret it!

Two words - Helen Saenz. I’ve never stumbled upon such a professional. She knows every single detail of the establishment, of service, of Cuzco and its beauties. Who is so attentive, always available, and on top of everything even before you thought if asking the question. I couldn’t be more grateful for Helen and the planning she helped me with, from airport transfers, hotel arrangements to most memorable life experience I’ve had at Machu Picchu, such that happens once in a lifetime only. I’m not a person who ever writes reviews, however o can’t express my gratitude to Helen, and people that I’ve met along the way thanks to Helen, enough. Hope to come to El Balcon and also to meet you Helen in person next time!

This hotel hidden behind the railway station at Ollantaytambo surpassed my expectations. I stayed in one of the upper rooms with a balcony for three nights from September 14 -17. The hotel is like beautiful secret garden behind the railway station. Rooms are spacious, attractively designed and have all you would need and are so peaceful away from the comings and goings of tourists from the various trains going to Machu Picchu. I chose it because I love railways, it was convenient for taking the train and it looked tranquil on booking.com. Although it was the most expensive hotel I stayed in during my 6 week journey through Peru and Bolivia, it was the far and away the loveliest. I have backpacked around the world extensively over the last 35 years staying in a wide range of accommodation and this hotel is in my top 10. I enjoyed my time in Ollantaytambo more than my day to Machu Picchu. It is a lovely small walkable town especially once the day trippers have left! The hotel restaurant serves delicious food and the attached platform cafe serves good coffee. The staff were helpful and tolerant of my bad Spanish. There are lots of little hidden paths around the place which are shown on the small map the hotel can provide. There was a power cut the day I arrived [this is not uncommon in Peru - some planned some not] but the hotel itself had a generator.

If you’re looking for a memorable, unique place to stay before your journey to Machu Picchu, this quirky hotel in Ollantaytambo’s train station is a hidden gem! It offers clean, comfortable rooms nestled in beautiful gardens.||The staff are genuinely welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home. One of the highlights was their fantastic coffee shop, serving excellent brews plus a delightful breakfast to kickstart your day.||For those visiting Machu Picchu, the hotel conveniently stored our luggage, making the whole travel experience hassle-free. Staying here felt like the perfect blend of convenience, charm, and relaxation, and I’d highly recommend it to any traveler heading toward the Sacred Valley or beyond.

A charming and delightful place to stay on your way to visit Machu Picchu. We spent three nights here over Christmas, and it was a wonderful experience overall. Our second-floor balcony room offered breathtaking views of the mountains and the garden. The hotel's food was excellent, and the drinks were equally impressive. Unfortunately, the front desk staff was consistently unhelpful, which added a sour note to our stay. They seemed uninterested in assisting with any requests and often responded with a simple "no."

Spent two nights here as part of our travels in Peru. We enjoyed a large double room with lovely views from the verandah to the nearby mountains and local Inca ruins. |The hotel bar/restaurant is situated directly off the adjoining railway platform , with the coming and going of trains to and from Machu Picchu, providing an ever changing back drop .|The hotel also has a good menu which utilises home grown produce. The gardens are well worth a visit . The bar also serves an excellent, locally produced, Sacred Valley craft beer. |Quirky and delightful in equal measure. We really enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is located right in the train station in Ollantaytambo. We stopped for the night after taking the train from Machupicchu to Ollantaytambo. The service was great and we'd like to thank Helen Pareja for all the help .|She was great and got us set up with private shuttle from hotel back to Cusco airport the next day. |The hotel has a restaurant and a nice coffee shop and lovely gardens. Rooms are on the smaller side but well laid out and very comfortable. The breakfast service was very good. If train noise bothers you, book a room away from the tracks. We were "upgraded" to a room close to the tracks and it was pretty noisy until about 10pm. There was also a gathering of children playing/screaming outside. Not certain but there is a nearby school so maybe they had some social event the night we stayed. |Would stay here again but in one of the rooms in the back.
