I had a business lunch there in early December 2017. It was a Friday and I got there at about 12:15 for lunch. There were only about 8-10 tables occupied.
We both ordered the Ojo de Bife ribeye and mashed potatoes. I also got some green beans. We received the meals in about 15 minutes and by that time, the restaurant was packed and bursting at the seams. The capacity is about 200 diners. Very fun vibe with birthday groups from offices and a great Friday afternoon party atmosphere.
The steaks were the best I had in the week I was in the country. To be honest, I only went to Mendoza on this trip and I was somewhat disappointed in the overall steak scene there AND the high prices compared to 2015. Restaurant prices have at least doubled since Dec. 2015 in comparison to the USD.
Back to the food: So this was the best meal I had in Mendoza out of the 15 or so restaurant meals in the week.
The steak was perfect in every way. Beautifully marbled and cooked oh so perfectly medium rare. Seasoning is never the best anywhere in Argentina so I've learned to bring a little shaker of pepper with me from California...you won't find any there! I have no idea why those folks are so afraid of any heat. I mean ANY peppery heat at all.
The mash p was perfect and the beans were also fine, but I did add a bit of butter to them. This is not a sign of bad cooking, just chefs who are afraid of pushing any kind of boundary (as all chefs in Argentina are).
With meat though, they are expert scientists when it comes to grilling on the parrilla. And at Asadito, they are Nobel prize winning scientists.
Prices are reasonable for Mendoza. About US fifty dol for two of us. Though as I said, Argentina is no longer the crazy bargain it used to be.
WiFi is good and a plus when you are waiting for your dining partner.
As far as I'm concerned, this is the best non-winery restaurant in the Cuyo region (the 3 provinces around Mendoza).
