This restaurant transforms traditional amazonian dishes in a modern and photogenic way. The presentation of every dish and every drink is very special, sometimes a bit over the top. The food tastes very good (at least most of the dishes we had dis). The service is friendly and attentive. Obviously the pricing is on the higher end of what you usually find here. But overall, in my opinion, this restaurant offers a great experience with good food and creative drinks. Therefore the 5 star rating feels justified. Definitely visit this restaurant if you have the chance and judge for yourself. ;-)

Extraordinary experience in Chachapoyas!! We tried the jungle-edge trout ceviche, trout stew, and the piqueo campesino (the restaurant’s signature dish). Incredible flavors and beautiful presentation. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely place! We came on a Sunday so it was quite empty. The service was extremely quick and we were eating within minutes. The staging is fun, which my European partner really appreciated. The ceviche ceja de selva was great, with the ripest most buttery avocado. The whole restaurant is decorated and over the top. It is a bit expensive for Chachapoyas, but we can spare a few euros for good food, good service, and good ambiance.

The presentation of the food and the flavor are amazing! But the quantity although is more than some fancy restaurants, I felt it could be a bit better… that’s why I give 4/5 The waitress was very friendly and kind, but I don’t know that because of the time, she was alone, managing the orders and the cashier. Regarding the atmosphere, for me it was too much rustic, not bad but I would prefer a bigger table and a chair that you can move easily. Prices are a bit high but think it worth it as the flavors are good. I ordered Ceviche Ceja de Selva, Milanesa Shacshina, 1 portion of rice, 1/2 pitcher of passion fruit juice and everything was s/94. You can pay with credit/debit card or cash. Definitely a good option for lunch/dinner in Chachapoyas.

An exceptional place! Creative dishes with decoration sometimes going over the top. But each meal is a little work of art. Ootstanding value!

El Batán is hands down one of the best culinary experiences we had in Peru. The menu is a beautiful mix of traditional Amazonian and Andean flavors, reimagined with creativity and finesse. We tried the tasting menu and every dish was a surprise — full of color, texture, and unique local ingredients. The presentation is worthy of a fine dining restaurant, but the atmosphere remains warm and authentic. The service was excellent too: friendly, attentive, and happy to explain each dish. If you want to taste the real spirit of Chachapoyas with a modern twist, don’t miss El Batán del Tayta. It’s more than just food — it’s a full cultural and gastronomic experience.

Amazing place to take photos, and the cocktails were pretty good but unfortunately the food I ordered was quite poor. I had the tayta campesino and all the different cuts of meat were really dry and tough. Considering it was quite expensive (relatively to other places) I have to say I was quite disappointed
