The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious; the air-conditioning not as effective as we would have liked. The breakfast was good. Although the dinner choice was unfortunately rather limited, it is easy to walk down into town to one of the many eateries available there. The hillside location made for excellent views and a great breeze. The pool was decent and it was pleasant to sit in the bar area to use the wifi.

Don't bother climbing the steps. It was closed when I was there in May 2022. I usually include the hotel bar in my Tour de Mojito on the day of my arrival in Baracoa. To find the doors locked and windows shuttered. The views of the city and of the Russian-built helicopters are still nice from the hill that this old fortress stands on.

This hotel is in an excellent position offering views over the sea and town and across to El Yunque.||My room, in the original fortress building, was basic, but clean and adequately comfortable. The bathroom had obviously been refurbished relatively recently and had new fixtures. Unfortunately, however, it was often impossible to get any hot water for showering, a complaint I heard echoed by a number of other guests.||Breakfast was pretty poor - omelettes cooked to order were satisfactory but things like bread, juice, fruit, coffee or cereal had frequently run done and not been replenished.||The outdoor bar, overlooking the pool, was pleasant and served good espresso and rum.

Nice hotel at the top of the hill overlooking the whole city. Nice pool area and pool bar with ok food. My family had two rooms and we had to change both rooms several times to find one with working air-condition. Apparently, they did not have an overview of non working rooms and we got the impression that this was a regular problem they solved by moving people around till the visitors got tired of complaining. But if you don't mind the air-condition, this is an ok place.

Stayed in Baracoa for almost a month and this hotel served the best breakfast coffee compare to the few Casa that we stayed at. The staff were friendly and all spoke English as well pretty much. The view is just breathtaking. If you are up for a morning exercise I'd say take the stairs up and down. Will be back for sure. Thank you

By Cuban standards a very good hotel (hence 4/5), and if you are lucky and have a room in the building slightly further away from the reception, the views are simply stunning! Pool was closed for some time, and nobody could tell us why (staff is very indifferent, as you find everywhere in Cuba)... Room itself was what you'd expect for the price (in a positive sense).

Incredible location, sitting right above Baracoa with 270° views out to sea, over the harbour, down across the town in both directions and across the bay to El Yunque, the flat-topped mountain behind Baracoa. The rooms are fairly basic in the old building. We read that the newer building has improved rooms, but we arrived just a couple of weeks after Hurricane Matthew hit Baracoa and most of those rooms, along with various parts of the hotel, were undergoing repairs from the storm damage. If you're staying for a longer period you might get tired of the very steep walk back up to the hotel from the town, especially in hot weather which is pretty stanard here obviously, but we didn't mind it. There's a nice big pool in the hotel's central courtyard with a bar next to it that does a mean Baraco 500 cocktail which I can recommend. The in-house restaurant is pretty decent too (again, options were limited in the wake of Hurricane Matthew). The usual lunch and dinner menu looked more varied than your average Cuban restaurant and had a few options for vegetarians too. A warning about breakfast - it's worth getting in around 7am when they start putting it out, because the food starts attracting a lot of fruit fly pretty quickly and becomes distictly less appealing by 8:30am.

Did not stay here, but did climb the stairs to look out over the city. Amazing view. Restaurant at the top served us immediately and was very relaxing. Dance lessons were being given in all different locations of the building.
