El Convento Boutique Hotel

"Cobblestones, exposed brick, and rough-hewn stylish décor abound at this stunning hideaway with 26 unique suites. Taking its name from the famous Capuchinas Convent, the experience at El Convento is anything but ascetic. Spa, five star dining, and modern comforts offer retreat ambience, but it is perfectly situated for exploring the grandeur of Antigua."

We celebrated my wife’s 30th birthday at this property, and I can honestly say it was unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. Everything was flawless from the beautiful accommodations to the warm hospitality. I made a last-minute request for some room decorations to surprise my wife, and the team made it happen perfectly. Their attention to detail and genuine care truly exceeded my expectations. The location is also perfect everything in town is just steps away, making it easy to explore and enjoy the area. Thank you to the entire staff for making this milestone birthday one we will cherish forever. Highly recommend!

El Convento is a beautiful hotel in Antigua, Guatemala. The rooms are lovely and clean-the best amenity in them is the rain shower which probably is the highest pressured shower in Guate! Our room did have an issue with the sink, which leaked water. Breakfast was OK, but not worth the price. While the property is really nice, certain parts of the hotel feel a little dirty like the pool and terraza. At the end of the day, I’d recommend this hotel but not for $300. Maybe $180-200 would be more realistic.

I had amazing stay at this property. It was perfectly located in the city of Antigua. The aesthetic of the property fit perfectly within the aesthetic of the city. There were plenty of walkable options and dining. The room I received was very spacious and felt very much like its own apartment.

The concierge service was pretty good and the hotel is beautiful, but this hotel WAY overpriced for what you actually get. For one, there was not even warm water in our room for the entire stay. When the hotel was unable to give us a similar room, they offered to take a very small percentage off the room after I pressed the issue multiple times. In addition, the hotel was under construction and was extremely noisy, so it wasn’t relaxing at all. Would recommend avoiding this place since there’s much better options in Antigua.

Gorgeous hotel in the heart of Antigua. I was worried about coming after reading the negative reviews, but I didn’t need to be! I had an excellent stay and would 100% recommend. This is a gorgeous boutique hotel.

Booked and paid for this hotel around 3 months before I arrived, on the date of my arrival I called them and was told they made a mistake and sold the room I booked for the first night, I was told to go to another hotel they had set up for me and when I arrived they tried to charge me again and more expensive than El Convento I had booked and paid for (and this hotel is much worst). The second day I went to El Convento and checked in and was promised the manager will come talk to me, however, they never did, and didn't even return most of my emails after they failed to keep their promise of making me whole. Out of frustration I submitted a partial dispute on my charge to just the one extra night I had to double pay, and apparently this hotel while not responding me send my credit card company apparent vouchers that I never received. This whole experience felt like a malicious scam. one of the worst experiences I have experienced.

Booked rooms for family wedding across the street at El Convento de las Capuchinas. |Staff: 5 star, hard working, accommodating, friendly, helpful|Restaurant: excellent breakfast menu included with stay; over and above service for bridal and groom dressing salon snacks and drinks|Grounds: rooftop terrace and select room views of Volcan Fuego and Volcan Agua, heated shallow pool cleaned meticulously, stepping stone zen-like walkways and flowers|Rooms: many with balconies, controllable skylights. Comfy, comfy beds and linen. Fireplaces, slippers & robes. |** one drawback was limited hanging hooks for towels in bathroom and none in main bedroom. Trying to steam wedding outfits was challenging.
