We recently returned from a 6 night stay in the Nopal room, which we booked based on overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this B&B, as there are lots of other wonderful places to stay in Oaxaca at a similar price point. Our room was supposed to be one of their nicer rooms, but the water pressure in the bathroom was horrible and the room itself was very stuffy. I was looking forward to taking a nice shower at the end of a long day but it took over 10 minutes to get any hot water and equally long to rinse the shampoo out of my hair! I don't like to waste water when I bathe and this was bordering on ridiculous. The on-site staff was kind enough to get me an additional pail and cup to rinse myself, which I ended up using for the remainder of my trip. Also, while the bathroom is beautiful it isn't very well appointed, e.g. they have bath gel but no shampoo, and there's no place to put your toiletries except on the shower floor (f but it had no ventilation whatsoever and was permanently warm and stuffy and even though the weather was nice and cool outside. There is a small window which was left open 24/7 and they provide a fan but neither helped much. We resorted to leaving our front door wide open when we could to air it out, which meant letting in mosquitos and obviously giving up some privacy. On the positive side, the breakfasts were hearty and delicious (fruit, fresh fruit juice, eggs, toast/tortilla, and good coffee) and the staff was friendly and tried to accommodate us given the circumstances. The grounds are lovely, I just wish the rooms were more comfortable.

If you've looked at this place online and viewed beautiful, contemporary rooms, and then booked based on those photos like we did, don't say you weren't warned.

The second B&B opened under this name, located in the old town center, in a little laneway just off a busy road. Just 5 min walk from all the tourist areas. Super cute renovated rooms in traditional local handicrafts, with lots of plants and courtyard space. Breakfast included in the morning was very nice, with local cooked foods and vegan options. Shared common space with lounge, self serve bar and kitchen area. Staff were exceptionally helpful, booking taxis and ensuring I was confident and knew where to go. Really enjoyed my stay here, and will be back next time I visit Oaxaca.

We're stayed 6 nights and it was amazing. Very great and helpful staff. Beautiful room, large and very clean. Comfortable bed . Really good breakfast, different every day. Walking distance to everything but calm and quiet. We will stay there again for sure

My husband and I stayed at El Diablo y La Sandia, Boca del Monte on our honeymoon and couldn't have been more pleased. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts with some of the best coffee we had in Oaxaca, the beautifully decorated atmosphere, and the warm and highly helpful staff. On sunny days we also spent time on the roof terrace in the hammock. The value for money was excellent, and the location superb: close enough to walk easily to all of the central attractions, and also just removed enough to have a sense of quiet and peace. We would recommend Boca del Monte to anyone! You will not be disappointed.

An amazingly quaint place. It has the feel of a small peaceful garden. Location is great for couples, not for families with small children. A 7 minute very hilly walk into downtown with a ton of traffic. You pass tons of great shops and restaurants, but call a cab if you're not spry or dragging crumb-grabbers around.

Wonderful and quaint place located in a great area of Oaxaca. The highlight are the lovely, warm hosts and the delish breakfast :) Everything you need and nothing you don’t for a nice and comfy stay. Will definitely return – thank you María & fam for a lovely stay!

Great spot to stay while in Oaxaca. The staff are really nice, breakfast is lovely and it’s well situated. The rooms are beautiful, no AC but a big fan that did the trick.
