Everyone was welcoming and helpful - the daily breakfast is wonderful and gives you the opportunity to meet other guests. Staff is always helpful. Rooms was comfortable and clean. The location is about 2 blocks from Santo Domingo de Guzman, Cultural museum and the botanical gardens. On a side note the people of Oaxaca are so welcoming and are glad you are there - we had a wonderful time.

El Diablo y La Sandia is such a great bed and breakfast! This was my second time staying with them, once at each location. The first time I stayed at the Los libres location and second was at the Boca del Monte location. Both locations were great and within walking distance to most everything in the city (we like to walk around). If you're more interested in art and the main plaza, Boca del Monte is closer to that, while libres is closer to the big markets (like 20 de Noviembre). But it easy enough to walk to all of it from either location.||The staff is absolutely amazing! They had great recommendations and helped arrange taxi's to and from the airport, as well as a a private driver for one of the days our whole group wanted to go to a few different locations outside of town. Prices were reasonable and the drivers were great as well! Lastly one person from our group left behind some art and the staff was extremely accommodating - they mailed the art back to the US for us. We of course paid for it, but I couldn't ask for better service than they provided!||Breakfast was always delicious and with such a great atmosphere. You can enjoy breakfast with the group you're traveling with as well as other guests of the hotel. This makes it much easier to meet other people traveling and get tips about what they've done around the city. Both locations are beautiful and have numerous places to hang out around the property or on the terraza surrounded by beautiful plants. Its a great place to wind down after a busy day of exploring. Beds were comfortable and rooms were nice and clean. The only warning I'd note is not all of the rooms have AC. Most of the year its not really needed because it cools off at night, but there are some rooms that have AC if it's important to you. ||We will be back!

Such a bad experience. My first time in Oaxaca. I travel around Mexico for years and never experience such a terrible place to stay in this beautiful town. I normally have the best experiences and great things. But not in this B&B.|First of all...They just have two rooms with AC in a 90' degree weather for the entire hotel. I was traveling with my mom and sisters and we rent two rooms with only one AC...was insane!!|They serve the breakfast at 8:30am super late. Be aware because the pictures in the website and booking.com doesn't match with the the B&B and they booked you in the wrong room and location as well. They don't have a service 24 hrs. The staff leave at nigh and is super dark. Not lights and is very very hard to get there if your flight is late. Location is super inconvenient and hard for people that is not familiar with Oaxaca. The rooms are very low quality. I have being in a boutique hotels and great B&B before but this is low low quality. Doesn't worth the money. After a bad experience we decided to go another Hotel even less expensive and super amazing, big rooms, central, great buffet breakfast, with AC and service taxi 24 hours. My mother have to slept the first night in my room and on of my sisters because they room didn't have AC. I called the owner and tell him to give my money because all this bad experience. They didn't do anything and charge 2 nights even when we left the second day to another hotel they still charge us...they just tell me "I need that I need to read that they only have two rooms with AC in all the hotel and that was my problem because I didn't read" of course they charge me $500 plus tax after this terrible experience. for a day and half I didn't use. I told them they can't have people in this 90' degree in rooms thats not even healthy...be aware!!!! and do yourself a favor don't book this B&B. Re Search. they have a tons better options than this one. Thanks God Oaxaca is amazing place! and we fixed it.

If you've looked at this place online and viewed beautiful, contemporary rooms, and then booked based on those photos like we did, don't say you weren't warned.

We had a wonderful stay at El Diablo y la Sandia Boca del Monte. It’s a very charming hotel located in an alley of a busy street in Oaxaca City. We loved the traditional Mexican feel of it and all of the beautiful, lush plants in the garden. We stayed in La Casita, which features a main level with a king- size bed and a second level with a lounge area and patio. Unfortunately we weren’t able to use the second level much at all because it was so hot up there. The room did have two fans which were helpful. We loved the delicious Mexican breakfasts every morning and seeing the women prepare our meals was a lovely experience. Overall a wonderful experience. I will be back and would like to checkout another room for my next stay.

My wife and I just spent a week (Saturday 16th-23rd) at this absolutely charming B&B, and highly recommend it. First, all frond desk staff are highly professional, very friendly and helpful - all speak English. There are also women in the kitchen who prepare a delicious and beautifully presented breakfast every morning. We highly recommend the breakfast not only for the food, but also for the opportunity to meet and chat with the other guests - a great way to get recommendations. The kitchen, dinning area and common-area are large, tastefully decorated, pleasant to stay and open 24x7. I start my days early so was able to make myself coffee or tea, and also do some work - really lovely space.|We stayed in the Nopal room, which is very spacious, and was always kept very clean. The temperatures outside ranged between low upper 80's to 90's during the days and 50's-60's during the night and the room, equipped with an upright fan and no AC was generally very pleasant. The King-size bed is made of two joint beds - that was not an issue for us, and the mattresses were comfortable. Oaxaca has a severe water shortage issue, but we took short and refreshing showers whenever we needed them - the water pressure was low, but not a big deal at all. |There is a lovely internal yard, shaded with trees and flowers. It is a pleasure to end a day of exploring with a cup of tea in one of the comfortable chairs in this area. |Last but not least, the location is truly fantastic - 7 minutes walk to the heart of the il Centro, where food, shopping, and lots of art are to be found!

Charming hotel close to bars and restaurants but not too close. We had three rooms for our family of 6 all with different decor and fancy bathrooms. The central courtyard was a great place to sit in the shade and enjoy beers from the honesty bar. The breakfast was lovely. The omelette with plantains and salsa verde is still talked about as surprising and muy ricco. Can highly recommend this place In Oaxaca.

Such a lovely, comfortable, and charming hotel in a fantastic location!! Very comfortable beds and even though there is no AC, our room was quite cool even on the hottest days. Breakfast was great each morning and the staff and owner could not be nicer or more accommodating. For anyone with mobility issues, there are a few stairs in the hotel, but no large staircases to navigate. It would be easy with minimal mobility challenges.
