Google
We came in to watch a movie on July 4th so we walked around oxnard having a hard time finding a place that was open. Luckily we found El Dorado. Immediately when we were sat we had homemade chips. Staff was very attentive. They had full bar and all the food we got was top notch. Important to support local businesses and was happy to during the holiday.

Jeffrey Cohen

Google
Chips and salsa were excellent, the fajitas the chicken was good, the Carne Asada not so much. They need to add more vegetables to it. My wife and daughter said the foods were good

I try to get something different every time I come here, I can attest to the arroz con pollo, the birria chimichanga are my constant “go to” dishes. My friend always gets the sopas and he says they’re great as well.

Google
Atmosphere and music was fun! There were two separate Birthday parties that were enjoying themselves as well. The food was delicious, the salsa is out of this world and the servers were so friendly & attentive!!! Another BIG plus is the Flan, for dessert, it’s the BEST I’ve EVER tasted, and I’ve tasted LOTS of it in my life…We’re coming back for sure 👍

Google
Food was great...service can be better.. best tasting steak ive had had so far..tender,juicy and great flavor

Google
We stopped here for dinner after taking the train. The food was pretty good, but the music was way too loud!!! We measured it at over 100 decibels! We couldn’t even hear each other very well when yelling, let alone trying to ask the waitress questions or give our order. It was ridiculous to say the least! I have been to concerts that were not this loud! It isn’t a club or a dance hall, it’s a restaurant. Our drinks were never refilled and we asked for chips and a container of salsa to go and never received it. When I walked out my ears were ringing and I had a headache. I will definitely not be going back to dine in. Maybe take out because the food was decent.

Yelp
Great food at this full service Mexican restaurant in Oxnard. The red chili sauce on the enchiladas may have been the best I've had. The salsa, tortillas, and chips were delicious as well. Very nice size portions at a fair price.

Yelp
We were driving home from LA and the Mexican food craving hit. Looked on Yelp and found this little gem of an authentic family owned restaurant. Chips and salsa set the tone for what was ahead. I always judge the food by a couple of things their chili relleno, carnitas, and quesadillas. Chose to go with chili relleno and tacos and was not disappointed. Hubby got the carnitas and he was happy belly too.

Anita C.

Yelp
I ordered from here twice! First time was excellent and everything came that I ordered just how I ordered it! So tasty! Second time they forget two of my tacos but the food I did get was still very good. I will say it sucks about the tacos but people make mistakes I won't fault them too much just hopefully it won't happen again

Maria K.

Yelp
Wow, it is a great surprise this little grill has a great vibe. The food is very tasty at reasonable price. The service is excellent. I would definitely come back !

Martha E.

Yelp
Great little place, food is good homemade tortillas with the tacos, good micheladas! Would come back, good menu selection.

Stephen D.

Yelp
Just ordered tonight via Grubhub. Order: 2X Dorado Sizzling Fajitas with instructions - "No rice, beans or tortillas. Include extra veggies instead please." I received 1 order of fajitas with rice, beans and tortillas. No extra veggies. No cheese, sour cream or guacamole. Only one small side of salsa. The food was good for what arrived. Due to my diet, I'm throwing the rice beans and tortillas away, which is a waste. Tonight was your chance at a new customer. I'll try somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Hubby and I stopped in here before we hit the Christmas Tree Lane in the historic district. What a little gem!!!!! Would definitely come back here again the next time we're in the area. The homemade chips and salsa were wonderful (we had two servings). I had the grilled shrimp plancha - excellent. Hubby had the shrimp burrito and couldn't finish it all because it was so big. Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here. Hubby and I were stuffed when we left. Also, hubby loved that they had Negro Modelo. That's his fave beer and he doesn't get that every time we go out. Last but not least, the service was great!!! Our waitress, Caren C, was very attentive and personable.

Yelp
This place is authentic and lovely. People Where amazing and there food was even better. Nothing like cold Pacificos on a 60 degree California Friday. Bartenders are amazing and helpful recommend anyone who enjoys food and a cold beer to swing by

Scott M.

Yelp
Great tacos and excellent service. Recommend . Enchiladas are good too Good location. Shrimp tacos are the bomb

James A.

Yelp
I personally look for good food and good environment It was a Thursday night my co worker and i were working out of town not knowing anything around the area i reviewed this place and took a shot at it. I had the carne asada with shrimp and it was delicious

Patrick A.

Yelp
This place was so great we a had to come back a second time, on the same day! We first came in the morning to grad a quick drink while waiting for our train to arrive. Had the pleasure of meeting the husband and wife team who own and run the restaurant, very nice people. On our arrival back to town in the evening, we decided to return for dinner and drinks. Food was delicious! Drinks are great, and the do a generous pour. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. Please support our local family owned businesses, and make this a location for you meal! The owner even arranged transportation home for us, since Uber and Lyft were at limited operations. Thank you again, and we will see you soon!!

Julio F.

Yelp
Like everything they have a good service.. jcf Filete a la plancha al mojo de ajo. Very good.. jcf

Adam L.

Yelp
Excellent food and a very diverse menu. Very personal service and a full bar and many TVs. They actually have menus unlike the last place we went to. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a sit down Mexican authentic lunch in the city of Oxnard.

Lori D.

Yelp
This restaurant closes at 8 pm weekdays and 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. Great authentic Mexican food! Try their award winning salsa ... it's delicious! We loved it! I had chicken and beef tacos, and hubby had the carne asada burrito with their hot salsa inside. Awesome place!

Liz V.

Yelp
Their Spicy Shrimp Tacos are the best!!! Highly recommend. Definitely will be a repeating customer.

Ellie L.

Yelp
Drove to this establishment on Friday..day after Thanksgiving. We ordered the Pork Canitas Plate. Rice was good,Beans were good,..Carnitas were not so great! They were dry and bland! I reccomend the cook make adjustments to the flavor of this meat! My family is of Mexican Roots know the flavor of such meat..and this is definitely not it! I do give this restaurant a 5 star for their Cleanliness, Choice of Background Music, and Friendly Staff.

Myrna P.

Yelp
We were visiting Oxnard and had a craving for some real Mexican food. We found it here at El Dorado. Nice atmosphere & comfortable seating. The staff was welcoming & friendly. We had the asada chimichangas, and the shrimp one as well. They are big! Also had the carnitas and it was a good size plate full. Everything was fresh and delicious including the crispy chips and flavorful salsa. Don't forget to have some their sweet and refreshing horchata and a couple of shots of tequilla or a margarita. It's all very good!

Jason M.

Yelp
I got the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. Six tiny shrimp in a greasy, oily "sauce" and a meager scoop of rice. "Side salad" in the top right. Do better. 2 stars because at least it was still warm.

G S.

Yelp
Took my buddy for lunch and took a really long time to get drinks and food bartender kept saying he will be with us in a minute and waitress was just eyeing us. We went outside to get a smoke brake and when return my vest was gone. I ask and they said they didn't know. No one was there but us. I call to speak to the manager and was told that they are not responsible for belongings. My food and phone was there they only took my Carhartt Vest. Can't believe can't even trust this mex restaurant

Marti M.

Yelp
Great food, great service and I'll be coming here often... however, don't come on Monday, they are closed (learned the hard way)

Starr M.

Yelp
AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD is all we wanted with a good margarita. This place did not disappoint. I tried the Mango Margarita topped with Tajin. DELICIOUS. My hubby got a regular margarita that was amazing. The service was great... they accidentally got our order wrong, they not only brought out the correct order but apologized for the miscommunication. I love that. Great service, food and drinks. We'll be back.

Rosa G.

Yelp
We ended up coming here because we got a certificate for this restaurant we decided to come on a Saturday like around 3 o'clock this place is dead no one here we decided to stay and have lunch the food came out pretty quick I would say within 15 minutes the food was delicious not to mention the micheladas pretty cool place the service was fast obviously with no one there

Dodgerette R.

Yelp
Hmmm where do I start? I ordered cheese enchiladas; to play it safe, because who can mess up enchiladas right? WRONG! No flavor whatsoever, & tortilla was breaking apart. My husband ordered chicken crispy taco and shrimp. He said they were not good at all. Took 1 bite of his tacos and couldn't eat it. Said the shrimp tasted like they were bad/old & chicken had no flavor. On top of that, the customer service was bad. We waited about 40 min for our food to come out, by then we had drank our drinks & waitress not once did she ask if we wanted another drink. This place was not busy at all. There were about 5 customers aside from us when we were there and 3 of the 5 were at the bar. This will be our last time going there. Waste of money and time!

Youri Y.

Yelp
It was my first time coming here with my grand lil bro RJ for lunch and we were starvinggg. We were welcomed, seated in clean booth and received chips and salsa from our hostess. The hostess was really friendly and always checked up on us and refilled our drinks. I ordered the chimichanga for ~$7 and RJ ordered the burrito mojado (not sure how much it was but everything on their lunch menu was less than $10). Our food came out in a good 10 minutes and the portions are HUGE. My chimichanga was almost like the size of a monster burrito from Freebirds! As we were enjoying our food and having a serious conversation, the restaurant's live mariachi-like band was performing for other diners nearby and we couldn't hear each other well. Definitely not a quiet ambiance but didn't ruin our meal. I would recommend this place and maybe have the food to go if you mind live Spanish music :)

Rob C.

Yelp
Pretty sad I grew up in Oxnard & have never eaten here. Came in on Monday afternoon to a clean & colorful restaurant. Big windows surround the place so a lot of natural light. We were promptly greeted as we walked in and told that we could sit anywhere we wanted. Sofia was our server. Sweet & nice. She recommended the shrimp enchiladas and they were super good. Food excellent! Service outstanding. I will definitely come back.

Mari C.

Yelp
Went on a limb and drove over two hours based on Google reviews (never trust Google reviews this is second time it happens). Only reason it gets a star was the service, our waitress although she seemed new was very helpful and nice, and the ceviche. My mom ordered the molcajete (in pics advertised this entreè looks bomb) worst ever tasted. We've ordered a good variety from our trips to Guadalajara, and difft states. This place takes the prize for worst molcajete (now if you've been drinking I could see why people think is was good). Where do i start the 3 sorry looking shrimp that are supposed to be spicy are just drenched in what seems oil paprika and other spices had no taste just bland. Then the shrimp in bacon, where the bacon was semi cooked. This is the fiirst time where a molcajete is served with no broth, nothing, nada. It had lifeless pieces of dried up chicken also bland (yes, i actually tried it all in the name of a fair yelp review), dry bland meat and when i thought it couldnt get worse 1 piece of thin queso and also dry chorizo! Whom ever is your cook that last thursday i went, made a disgraceful molcajete. The saving of the day a meh ceviche, which was just ok.

Roc P.

Yelp
I was driving through the all farming town of Oxnard and came across this little place, I said to my girl you want Mexican food. So we stopped in and immediately were greeted by the owner who told us to sit anywhere. They brought us out their award winning salsa and chips, which was some of the best salsa I ha e ever had. We ordered, I got the seafood dish which had shrimp, octopus, a whitefish, beans rice and this was sim a dish sent from the heavens, I went back for breakfast the next morning and low and behold salsa and chips, and the most sublime chorizo and eggs, rice a d beans ever, served with warm, house made fresh corn tortillas. Simply amazing...

AmyLynn K.

Yelp
We stopped by on Saturday afternoon. They have a small patio space during COVID that happened to be full but they put out another table to seat my family and provided exemplary service. The food was really good, the red sauce for the enchiladas is a vibrant red and had plenty of kick. The salsa and chips were so good we ordered some to take home after. I definitely have plans to come back again after COVID to get the full experience.

Jordan R.

Yelp
WOW this spot really knows whassup with the chicken tortilla soup!!! Definitely coming back to try something different:)

Gabriela N.

Yelp
Never going back. The food wasn't great, I got the fish tacos and it was very heavy on the cream almost like a mayonnaise. Pretty gross! We ordered margaritas with no drink menu even after I asked for one and it was $10 w Jose Cuervo! Jose Cuervo!!! I asked for casadores instead which is a better yet affordable tequila and was up charged $5. My one margarita was $15 for casadores. The waitress never told us about the up charge or the price of the margarita. It wasn't a very good margarita to begin with, had a generic pre mixed flavor to it. Which if I am paying $15 for I would expect better. They also charged a $2 service charge on our check. Super shady place and would never recommend. Worst fish tacos ever!

Erika M.

Yelp
El D is great for what it's supposed to be...a Mexican Sports Bar. Food is decent to good, great beer and tequila selection, often times loud live music and fabulous micheladas.

Rose C.

Yelp
This place has really good food and very friendly staff! The service was great and the food came out quickly. The bartender is not always there and the staff does not know how to make anything beyond a michelada or a not so great Long Island.

Kurt S.

Yelp
Best chips on Oxnard! Great seafood, great atmosphere. This place is a hidden gem. Seafood and rice plate is rich. My favorite Mexican food in Oxnard

Nicole H.

Yelp
We stumbled in here after an afternoon of wine tasting. The reviews look great. Service was very friendly, this place was pretty empty so we got a lot of attention. Food wise, I think it was good. Me and my boy split the giant Molcajete and while it was loaded with different things, it was all pretty over cooked. I think it had fish, sausage, chicken, carne asada, veggies and cheese. The molcajete was so hot that the already cooked meat, turned into carne asada jerky....had great flavor though. The portions were huge!

Saul R.

Yelp
Love this Place! Carne Asada Burrito is juicy and delicious. Guacamole is thick and creamy and juicy. Waitress gave great customer service and Fast and friendly and Good parking. Great place to grab a bite.

Johnnie S.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way home from SB. Spanish Karaoke!! Not too many people. But the guys doing the karaoke were great singers and it was entertaining! The food was good, I had fish tacos and they were filling, good size plate for a good price! Glad we stopped in!

Jill G.

Yelp
I wanted to try somewhere new. I dined alone mid afternoon on a Saturday. I got seated in a booth, the seat bottom was uncomfortable. They play Mexican music WAY too loud. The service was OK, but the food was very mediocre. I ordered Arroz con Pollo and a coke. To me, 4.00 was a bit much for a half liter Coke in a bottle, no refill. The Arroz con Pollo came with a side salad on the same plate. The salad was not fresh. I found a brown Radish and a yucky hard piece of lettuce core. Not enough dressing on the salad. The Arroz con Pollo was plentiful, but tasted very bland. Not flavorful at all. Over all a disappointing lunch. I will go elsewhere.

Desiree W.

Yelp
The food is great and the service is fantastic. I would come back here when I'm back in town!!! Fajitas were on point street tacos were amazing!!!

Anel A.

Yelp
My friend and I came here about a month ago. We came here for lunch. The food was good, and their Micheladas were too. However, I don't like mine too spicy; therefore, I gave it a 4 star. The staff was friendly, and attentive. I'd definitely go back to try another of their combination dishes. My friend had the carne asada plate, and I had the sopes. My first impression was on the homemade beans. They tasted so good, and it reminded me of my grandma's beans. Good quality Mexican authentic food!

Joan M.

Yelp
"El mejor en Oxnard" Excellent food, perfect enchiladas and THE best chicken milanesa torta EVER, delightful service, a fun ambiance. We had a great time and we will return often! I am looking forward to trying the Mole'!!! Comida excellente, enchiladas perfectos, la torta de pollo milanesa es el mejor, el servicio encantador, ambiento divertido. Vamos a regresar muchas veces. ¡Quiero probar el mole'!

Ruben R.

Yelp
Really good authentic Mexican food. The Micheladas are really good here. The place is never packed and they are always happy you went to see them.

Kathy Y.

Yelp
Best fajitas ever!!! Our waitress didn't speak English and unfortunately I don't speak Spanish but no problem!!! Food awesome & cook came out to take our order. Gotta try this place

Bob G.

Yelp
DO ask for the hottest salsa - wow! Very good house margaritas in BIG glasses ($9) They won the "hot salsa" contest at the salsa festival this year (well deserved) - I walked in with $4 and became the house "DJ" for 7 songs (go figure there was a bunch of credit already on the juke box when I walked up!) BONUS! Played "Saint Of Me" by the Rolling Stones - we could discuss that all night - now you at least know one song the "DJ" played! Back to the food - you will have to search a long time to find better than this! The only reason I can't give it a 5 star rating is I need to try more stuff! Chicken tortilla soup - solid 5 stars - there is no better. Chicken taco and chicken enchilada 4 stars. My wife had the combination fajitas and said "Best I ever had" 5 stars!!! House margarita 4 stars - will try higher end next time (this is a work night after all!) We WILL be back!!!

George A.

Yelp
While thrift shopping in Oxnard/Ventura, we literally stumbled on this place while searching for a Mexican restaurant with a full bar. We were very skeptical about this place, as it looked more like a bar or cantina than it did a restaurant. Since our choices were slim we decided to give this place a shot. We ordered a molcajete, tortilla soup, pollo con mole, & chile verde & 4 micheladas. Let me start with the michelada's, they were probably one of the best I've had & everyone in my party felt the same, my mouth is watering just writing this. Too bad it's so far from L.A or I might be a regular. If you try nothing else, try a michelada and I promise you wont regret it! My wife ordered the pollo con mole, which was simply amazing. The mole sauce must be made from scratch. Someone else ordered the tortilla soup, which was recommended by a fellow yelper. Like the michelada, one of the best I've had. Someone else ordered chile verde, it looked good but I did not try it. I ordered a molcajete, which was also amazing! The camarones costa azul were by far the best I have ever had, the carne was ok, maybe a little overcooked from sitting in the molcajete too long. The chicken filets were also tasty as was the longoniza. The fish filet was cooked to perfection. Parking is tough; we got lucky & parked right in front, which was a mere accident. Despite the appearance, when in Oxnard, I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was slow at times, but a small price to pay for such amazing home cooked authentic Mexican food, which is why I am still giving them 5 stars. The food made up for everything & actually made the entire trip worth the drive.

Robyn B.

Yelp
The staff here are SO SWEET!! And the food is delicious... if a bit spicy...! The margaritas are huge and delicious!!!!!

Trisha B.

Yelp
This place was exceedingly loud. Their chips did not taste good. The booths are extremely short seated and very uncomfortable. We did not stay to eat because the environment was so off-putting.

AmberHaze L.

Yelp
This is not a typical Mexican restaurant! Their menu is unique and the taste is very authentic. I love their salsa verde and mocajete! The food is very delicious and the presentation is great. The staff are very friendly. Will definitely come back here!

Michael W.

Yelp
Not satisfied with the food, nor the Margarita. Happy hour is not bottle beer it's tap. It's also not stated clearly. And overpriced

Nichole B.

Yelp
Wonderful place with lots of locals. Friendly staff who appeared to be family. No decor to speak of but that's not why you would visit this restaurant! Food was incredibly fresh, homestyle, not fancy; we cleaned our generously portioned plates. Homemade tortilla chips. Not sure what region/style of Mexico the food is; not coastal but also not the lead in your stomach red sauce, starch, cheese bomb style. Overall awesome!
