El Encuentro Surf Lodge & Restaurant

We had an absolutely fantastic stay for 5 nights at El Encuentro Surf Lodge! From the moment I arrived, the experience was top-notch. • The Room: My room was incredibly spacious, and I want to give a huge thank you to the team for the free upgrade—it was a wonderful surprise that made my stay even more comfortable. • Location & Grounds: The entire property is beautifully maintained and lush. Plus, you can’t beat the location; the beach is just a 5-minute walk away. • The Food: The dining experience was a highlight. The included à la carte breakfast was delicious, and every meal I had at the restaurant afterward was excellent. • Service: The staff are beyond friendly and make you feel right at home. • Sustainability: What really impressed me was their commitment to the environment. It’s rare to find a place so dedicated to sustainability, featuring their own PV system for solar energy and fresh ingredients sourced directly from their garden. If you’re looking for a spot that combines great vibes, delicious food, and an eco-conscious mindset, this is it.

My husband and I just returned from a 2 week stay in the king beach bungalow. I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of our room and the grounds. We looked forward to the lovely breakfast every morning. We walked to Kite Beach to the east and Natura to the west. Our only issue was that the weather wasn’t the best but it beat the snow we had at home!

This is our third time here and we absolutely love this place. It's located 4 minute walk from the best surf spots (for all levels). The rooms are very comfortable, the staff is friendly and always ready to accommodate. We definitely will be back here.

One of my favorite places to stay on the island. Sequestered from the city is this gem. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The room and bed is comfy. Splurge on suite if available. The beach is full of surfers and wonder gravel walk away. I am not a surfer and still enjoy it.

As a couple stayed for one week and overall had a nice time but there are some things for improvement: 1. We really are supportive of the children at the school next door having their swimming lessons at the pool, however it appeared to be Monday to Friday 10-12pm and then again 1-3pm. As a pool getaway holiday were unable to use it while the children had their lessons. When we asked what their schedule was we got a shrug of the shoulders (carribean time). 2. If you want to see places you’ll need to hire a car or bike. In the village there was nothing to do, but the 2 min walk to the beach was good. 3. A big shoutout to Anna and Gale who were the most incredible staff as well as housekeeping and the gardener. Unfortunately a couple of the waiting staff had an attitude problem most of the time. So, the lodge was indeed beautiful, pool was immaculate, access to filtered drinking water and restaurant food was pretty good. However for the above reasons we wouldn’t be back and would try elsewhere.

Always such a great experience and stay. Last stay I got upgraded to their ocean front villa! What a treat! I highly recommend.
