El Escalón

Comfortable and quiet hotel in a residential area. I stayed here for part of my quarantine after returning from Argentina. It was a really good place to wind down after the stress of international travel. The service was excellent and the breakfasts generous. The owner, Johnny, was always available and very helpful. Thanks for your care.

Incredible staff! Extremely helpful, and very kind. Always there to call a taxi, tourist questions, organizing tours etc. Truly made you feel at home. Small paddling pool for the hot days, and staff always asking if you need anything! Can't wait to come back. Really enjoyed our stay! Clean rooms, always serviced, nice breakfast in the mornings, accommodating staff! What more could you ask for! x

My husband and I stayed here for a night before needing to be at the US consolate. The staff texted us directions before arriving, prepared breakfast at the time we needed and helped us order food and taxis to the hotel. The rooms are huge and extremely clean. Great tv, a/c and hot water. We Will definitely Stay here the next time we are in Guayaquil! Can't say enough about the owner. She is a super nice, helpful and fun person to get to know!

It's a perfect place in the big city Guayaquil. Feels like you out of town. Very nice. Very safe. Less than 10 rooms. Clean. Our group had a great time with a homemade breakfast every morning. Many restaurants in walking distance.

Escalon Boutique is a hidden gem! Its style is super comfortable like coming home to visit family. The staff were awesome and accommodating and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is only about 15 mins walking distance to stores and bus stops. There isn't anything negative I can say about this B&B. Loved it!

El Escalon is a small scale hotel in a residential neighbourhood. It feels more like a Bed and Breakfast than a hotel and is a good option for travellers who prefer some peace and quiet. Breakfast is served in the garden with river views, there is also a swing. Parking space is available. The hotel was a little hard to find. Room was on the smaller side. Price was reasonable.

I make periodic trips to Guayaquil and for a while I was always taking a gamble with booking mid-range accommodation options. I'll no longer have to worry about that after discovering this place. El Escalon beats the pants off of everywhere else I've stayed in Guayaquil, I can safely say.||||The rooms are big, clean and kept at a comfortable temperature at night. Both nights I slept like a baby. It has a pleasant backyard area with tables and a minibar and a river along the back edge. It also makes for a really nice place to sit for breakfast and coffee.||||The staff was welcoming and very helpful with anything I asked for. We did converse some in English so I can say that do speak English quite well.||||The location is absolutely optimal. It's tucked into a quiet residencial area just a few blocks from the main drag in the Urdesa district, which has Guayaquil's best restaurants and night life. Urdessa is also a relatively safe area and is a short taxi ride away from the airport or the center.||||There is also a cafe about a block away where they do improv comedy in the evening. I didn't have the chance to check it out this time but I plan on it the next time I come back to El Escalon!
