"A convenient outpost where you can find costras—crispy cheese pancakes used like tortillas—offering a more accessible alternative to the original late‑night stand that popularized the snack." - Sophie Friedman

In this restaurant they do not separate seafood containers from other food. Food is served in such a way that plates with seafood sauce dripping into non-seafood contaminaning everything arround. I tried not to pick food near the seafood since I'm allergic, but that's a risk I won't take again. Plus I ordered a side of vegetables it was mostly cauliflower, and the cauliflower was overripe and not edible.

🍑🍑🍑 GREAT FOOD 👍 👌 The soups are AMAZING 👏 The atoles are delicious 😋 Prices are good! The place is ordinary and has a homely vibe and very simple decor.

The service was good but I ordered a smoothie and had a lot of plastic and the taste was horrible the food was still good though

Honestly this has been the worst nuegados con chilate that I have ever tried. The chilate tastes like plain maseca flour with peppercorns. And the nuegados come so big and with fake maple syrup on the side. Who eats nuegados with maple syrup? I have never eaten anything like this before. This can’t be called Salvadoran food.

Chicharones were undercooked, the chicken was dry and bland and the horchata felt like I was drinking water with sand. The service was also kind of bad. I asked for forks and a knife and she said to use the plastic ones. I explained that it wasn't enough for the hard chicken. Much of our food was also forgotten until I mentioned it.

Tamal de Pollo is very good, and the pupusas as well. Judging by the amount of people that came in while I was there, all of their food must be good. Affordable and good size portions. I recommend this place

The Pupusas were good, no complaints there. With the staff? Oh boy. The lady that was there was nice, I’ll give it to her. But most of the time while she was in the counter, she wasn’t wearing a mask and she goes around there like she’s proud of it. We have already ordered for pickup before we went there and we were told that it will take around 20 minutes for our food to be ready. Our food didn’t come out after about 45 minutes to an hour! She didn’t even bother to check what was going on with our order unless we told her to. While waiting for our food to come, we stumbled upon a peanut crunch (picture shown) and decided to buy three. When we asked the lady how much it was, she said she didn’t know. Obviously, she was clueless of the price. And then out of the blue, she decided, out of her pure judgement, that the price was going to be $2 a piece without even bothering to ask someone else if the price she had given was correct! So, we ended up not buying them. That was a big no for me. Imagine going to a store with staff like her? Would she be guessing prices all day long without even bothering to ask or verify the correct price for the products she’s selling??? To the manager of this restaurant, please do train her more. This place has potential and I hate to see it with staff like her. Train her more or get someone else. Period.

Yelp
I dream about these pupusas daily. I thank my boyfriend every day for showing me el Farolito. Their orange sauce is delicious and fresh. The pickled veggies taste so fresh. As I write this I've decided I'm going to get these for dinner tonight. The restaurant is located right in the middle of union city so parking is nearly impossible. Best pupusas in nj

Yelp
The food is lacking in preparation, taste and presentation. Your meal is just plopped into a take out plate with no care. They want your money and get out type of service. Too much going on it's not as clean as it should be. Not worth the hassle of parking for mediocre food. Plenty other better options in the immediate area. Adios!

Yelp
I'm not recommending this business because when I ordered a plate that originally costed $7 went up to $8. I asked why it was raised and was not given a proper response. Not only when I told them exactly how they told me the cost was $7 only for it to be risen to $8, but the food that was given to me was not worth for that price. I don't like how this restaurant has not only made me pay for such a dish, but treated me like shit just because I called them out for their price rise. One of the workers gave me attitude back and gave me such a bad taste that I would not come back to this restaurant.

Yelp
Have usually picked up lunch from here. Stopped in for breakfast for the first time. For the price it was reasonable except the steak was over cooked.

Yelp
Be careful with the food you buy, I had found rubber bands in my food and pieces of plastic. Also they tend to send the wrong food.

Yelp
Buffet skeptics won't be converted, but big eaters might want to get on the light rail to Bergenline and then walk 10 minutes to El Farolito. On two recent trips, there were different prices. Once it was $13 and included a beverage, more recently it was $10.99 and I don't think included a drink (I got water.) The chicken and vegetable soup was very good. The ribs are decent, as are the red beans. The pernil isn't super-flavorful on its own but works better with some beans or sauce. Some of the dishes like the fettucini look a bit worn out.

Yelp
I love the food in this place, really delicious and the prices are great. However, I saw a cockroach running around next to me when I was in the middle of my meal and that made me completely lose my appetite. Great place, just needs some exterminating!

Yelp
Don't order the chicken pupusa or the atol de elote. Breakfast was okay but not the best. Tiramisu was okay too.

Yelp
Pupusas are delicious! Love that they are on Uber eats! and they're consistent with flavor and freshness! We love the bean and cheese and the revueltas!

Yelp
I usually buy Pupusas; bean & cheese pupusas or chicarron & cheese. They are fresh, gooey and savory. The food is authentic to it's roots; El Salvador. Fresh FOOD & baked sweets. Economical, healthy & filling.

Yelp
This is a really low budget bad food buffet. It is all Spanish food but really poor quality and taste. You have regulars like ropa vieja beans and rice, some seafood rice which basically had vegetables and calamari skinny legs, totally disgusting. The roast pork was flavorless and the skin is like plastic. Some sausage that was tasteless in some sauce. If your interested in a buffet style dinner with low budget food that taste like crap, then this is the place for you . Service was also horrible. The place is a pigs corral. Food that you can serve hogs to fatten them up for Christmas. Put them again the hogs will probably taste like crap from eating junky food. On our way out of the restaurant we hear one of the waitress say oh did these girls pay? Really? Just a very extremely low class place. I gave it one star because the chicken empanada was good.

Yelp
The service and the food were great. I especially loved the bistec empanizado. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I ordered black rice and beans with macaroni salad and oven roasted chicken. The portion was decent on the bigger side I would say. The price was decent about 6 dollars for the meal , but the juice was 3 dollar that was a bit expensive. Overall I would recommend food was good tasted fresh. But pay attention to the add ons price will rice quickly!

Yelp
Had the chicken enchiladas. And wasn't happy. Maybe that's just how Salvadorian enchiladas are but they were cold and bland. The chicken reminded me of what I expect canned chicken to be. Our drinks (tamarind & jamaica) were also too sweet. It was one of the few times I left about half the food there. One thing I liked was the atoles and I might go back one day to try the pupusas. Update: Months after this review I was in the area craving pupusas and decided to give it a shot, as I suspected they were good. So I bumped up a star.
