Not once but Twice I came here with friends during the week! Yes it was that good! You must get the fried fish and the garlic that goes with it 🔥. The drinks were freshly made with real fruit and the dips for the chips were fresh. Everything was just fresh. Service is quick. The servers are extremely attentive. You can't beat the outdoor seating right on the water. It makes for magnificent sunset views. It's a hidden gem in the cut. I have nothing but great things to say, but try it yourself!

Lesly was the best !! We came 2 time the same day to eat there just because her service. The food was really good and fresh. Breakfast are amazing and the lunch ceviche is great. They never put pressure on you to tip them but they really earn the service tip with great service and going that extra mile for you. All the recommendations were amazing and right in the spot . The view of the lagoon is amazing and the vibe of the place is relaxing. Super extra plus is they have parking and also clean bathrooms . Visits the place and ask for Lesley she is the best !!!!!

My favorite restaurant in Cancun! We came here 4 out of the 7 nights we were in town because it is that good! We tried the coconut shrimp (this is a must order), apricot bacon wrapped shrimp, marlin carpaccio, fish and shrimp tacos, calamari, and the banana dessert. Fair prices & they also offer discounts if you stay in certain hotels. Atmosphere is another huge plus about this place, it’s right on the water and they usually have a DJ for dinner time.

Went twice when in Cancun. The whole family absolutely loved their appetizers, dinners, drinks and desert. Staff were fabulous. Music was great as well. The only negative is if you are weary of stairs. The Ribeye steak was phenomenal.

As others have said, go around the street level taco shop to the stairs down to the outdoor dining area and bar on the lagoon shore. Food is great, service is great, location is great! We paid $135 for meal pictured. Not bad at all for hotel Zone.

Man let’s start by saying that this place 10/10. If you love seafood then by far is one of the best around for sure. This place is located in the lower level by the docs. Not upstairs that’s the tacos. Get the TUNA TOSTADAS!! Those were so good the ceviche is amazing too. If you like octopus the tacos are great. They have a vast menu of many options and it comes out pretty quick. And definitely would recommend to stop by. From the Uber drivers we talk to the hotel staff they say it’s an amazing place and does not disappoints. Price points they are inflated to American or European but that’s because it’s in the resort area. So about US I would say you will spend about $40 per person

Awesome experience. Carlos was an amazing waiter. He also got our bag with leftovers to us after we forgot it! Ask for him when you go there!

Overall disappointing! Portion size and general presentation was good, but the quality of the dishes/cooking was the big disappointment. We both love seafood and came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary AND Father's Day. We started with the Calamari Rings and the Smoked Marlin Carpaccio. The Smoked Marlin Carpaccio arrived first and was very good. Well presented and freshly prepared. The Calamari Rings didn't turn up! The mains arrived, and looked good. Soft shell crab taco, Coconut Shrimp and Ele Octopus. The tacos (2) were ok, though expensive for what we got! The Coconut Shrimps were overcooked, dry and didn't taste of shrimp at all. We couldn't only taste over sweetened coconut. It was well presented and a good size portion. That made it even more disappointing, as we would rather have less, but better quality! The Octopus was good. Perfectly cooked and exactly as we had expected. When we asked about the Calamari Rings, they apologised and agreed to bring it out after our mains, as we already had plenty to tuck into. The soggy Calamari Rings turned up almost immediately!🙄 We mentioned they were soggy, but the waiter said that's how they are supposed to be. "They're tempura calamari rings"....then I would definitely expect it to be crispy and freshly cooked! We did get a small piece of cake for our celebration. It was a nice gesture. Wouldn't recommend and would not go back again.

Yelp
Get out of your all inclusive and get over here! You want authentic Mexican seafood, sand in your toes, and tasty margaritas without leaving the hotel zone? This is your spot! Friendly and attentive waitstaff is on par with the food, Absolutely great. I had the whole fried fish, which is perfectly crispy, perfectly seasoned, and presented perfectly. Highly recommend. Had very fresh oysters while sipping on the perfect watermelon margarita enjoying a stellar sunset on the lagoon. A trio band would come up and ask to Serenade you for a price of course. Highly recommend the song- sabor a mi. Perfection of an experience for vacation in the cancun hotel zone. It is to note the price is a bit on the higher side. Nothing unreasonable considering the location. The setting, the service and seafood all make this a place to revisit every time while on vacation here.

WC N.

Yelp
Great food, great view & great service We left our all inclusive resort to get authentic seafood & we were not disappointed. We chose to eat downstairs from the taco stand- overlooking the marina If you order a fresh coconut, they can open it to get to the yummy flesh Hope you saved your pennies for this place- it is worth it!

Yelp
El Fish Fritanga is a brilliant seafood restaurant located in the heart of Zona Hotelera. As with everything in Zona Hotelera expect to pay top dollar... $$$$. The one thing that sets El Fish Fritanga apart is the quality of food. If you look at the prices nobody would blame you for thinking Tourist Trap! The food here is brilliant! The main restaurant is downstairs past the small Taqueria. The main restaurant is a proper dine in venue and has a full menu, while the Taqueria upstairs serves mostly Tacos and has a very limited menu. The food is just as good in both places. The drinks here are amazing! We first ate at the Taqueria upstairs which is on the main street. You can order all kinds of drinks at the Tqueria as well, if it's not listed on the menu here the staff has the drinks made at the bar downstairs and bought up. LA TAQUERIA: ~ Ceviche - 5/5 The ceviche was literally like a meal. We weren't expecting it to be that big. It was by far the best one we had on the; Very well balanced, Good flavor, Not too citrusy with generous amounts of seafood. ~ TACOS: PULPO ENCEBOLLADO - 5/5 Probably some of the best Octopus Tacos I had. Grilled to perfection with a decent amount of Octopus in it. ~ TACOS: CARNE ASADA - 4.5/5 Your standard Carne Asada tacos. these were delicious! Nothing to complain about... Even the chips and salts are amazing! The Salsa had a nice kick to it, without being overly spicy. If you want some ocean views and a nice ambiance make sure to dine at the main restaurant downstairs. They also have live music in the evenings as well. #adulting: ~ Piña Colada - 5/5 Best, Piña Colada I had so far in my life I think...actually I'm positive! Well balanced, not too sweet, refreshing; Fruity, Silky and Smooth! Brilliant! #Seafood: ~ TACOS: Soft shell Crab - 3.5/5 This was interesting... For some reason the Soft Shell Crab just doesn't work as a Taco for me. It had a bit too much going on... ~ Elé octopus: 3.5/5 The grilled octopus was good, but I had better elsewhere. Grilled with Paprika for that smokey and spicy flavor. I like this place, great spot to enjoy a meal without traveling too far.

Yelp
Stopped here after shopping at La Isla. The food was so good. I actually hadn't had meat in a while (long time vegetarian) but have slowly started reintroducing fish to my diet and this was the perfect place to do that. The margaritas were also delicious and quite large. Everyone here was so kind and helpful. It was pretty quiet when we can but still great service. It's also cool to watch boats and jet skis pull into the dock. Loved it!

Christina J.

Yelp
I went to El Fish Fratanga on Avenida Huayacan and the food was amazing. The service was top notch and my server Roberto was very friendly, and attentive. Absolutely amazing! Will be trying the one in the Zona de Hotelera when I return.

Christa W.

Yelp
Food was absolutely AMAZING! Highly recommend the fried fish, governor tacos and margaritas! Service was OUTSTANDING! Balam (manager) and Melchor (waiter) were so nice, attentive and had the best recommendations. The DJ was great and the vibe was amazing. Directly on the water with an amazing breeze and perfect place to enjoy a good meal, great drink and great company! We are BIG foodies and will be back for sure before our vacation is over!

Bernard W.

Yelp
Hands down the best seafood and Fish we have ever had in MY LIFE...The waiter Melchor and Balam were amazing...

Andrew C.

Yelp
When our driver brought us here I was a little skeptical but then I saw the menu and knew it was on. Great value tacos that are cooked a la carte buy the server, cashier and Busser all in one. This guy did it all. They don't have booze but you can run across the street and grab a few beers to have with your food. The food was fresh tasty and cheap. Octopus tacos were solid as well as the pollo. We enjoyed our food and would come back.

Sherrill J.

Yelp
Great Margaritas! Right on the Lagoon Marina with sand floor. The Cancun equivalent of a Texas BBQ joint. Warm friendly service. R had the fresh fried Grouper and I had Grilled Shrimp with a special hot sauce. Everything was outrageously good.

Hanay W.

Yelp
Salmon Pasta Alfredo: 6/10 Passionfruit Margarita: 10/10 Stopped by this spot when we first landed in Cancun. We caught the band setting up and enjoyed their live performance. They were so much fun & interactive especially if you were receptive to them! The drinks were my favorite part of my experience. Highly recommend trying the passionfruit margarita!! The salmon pasta however was disappointing. Not terrible but missing some sort of seasoning and extra push to get it where it needed to be. Overall, this restaurant sits on near the water and has a fun vibe. I would come back merely for drinks & a fun time!

Helena M.

Yelp
High ratings simply because of the amazing atmosphere. First day in Cancun and we wanted something light and near the hotel zone for dinner and we landed here. We came when they were just setting up their live band. Band was interactive and definitely catered to the crowd. Pro tip: come with a fun group of people! Drinks were amazing! I ordered the Miami Vice y Pina Colada which was basically strawberry and pina colada mixed. When you check in you also can get a free drink of the month . Salmon pasta wasn't my favorite but the vibes and great service made up for this. Definitely could see myself hitting here for drinks again

Danielle L.

Yelp
Such a cute restaurant in Cancun! If you're staying at a resort nearby, I recommend coming here for dinner; it's right next to the water and faces the sunset. My brother and I shared the Tikin Xic and also had the famous pescadillas (shark meat in fried tortillas). Everything was delicious, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Helen Y.

Yelp
So good!!! The fresh fish was so delicious, delicate and fresh. The view I had right on the water was perfect. The service was excellent. Two waiters and very attentive. I came here twice.

Alexander P.

Yelp
Excellent service and very attentive staff. The food was very tasty and would definitely be back. Ambiance for was perfect for couples, specially on the deck overlooking the lagoon

Loredo L.

Yelp
We came here looking for a more laid back and family friendly restaurant after experiencing Rosa Negra last night. The place is very casual with the restaurant dining area situated in the rear facing the lagoon with seating under a large thatched hut or open air on the harbor deck with a beautiful view of the water. The service staff were all very happy and friendly. The adult drinks were very flavorful. My sons really enjoyed the guacamole appetizer, chicken fingers, and tuna tostadas. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our seafood entrees as well. The mahi mahi and salmon were generously portioned and perfectly seasoned and cooked. As the sun was setting a live bad started playing relaxing music. This was the perfect place for our last evening in Cancun!

Jack M.

Yelp
Solid meal with good drinks. It is pretty pricey for the quality. The grilled shrimp was very salty but besides that a solid meal.

Shirely C.

Yelp
We are back after one year!everyone we invited (three different groups)enjoyed their food, and the guests including locals and foreigners! Tried some different dishes on these trip, we still very satisfied with the food here! The first night we have 14 persons, waited for probably 30 minutes, be aware if you stayed at one of the hotel at stripe (Zona hotel), you might can get first round drinks on them or 10% off. The oysters were super fresh, two cousins tried who have never touched before, and they liked it. Another magic was one of the cousins boyfriend claimed he won't eat any fish, end of love the ahi tuna tostadas! On the third day we tried their breakfast, and they are authentic and delicious according to my husband who was growing up in Mexico City. Recommend dish based on our experience: breaded fish taco, shrimps tacos, ahi tuna tostada, shrimp civeches, Fettuccine with salmon in creamy jalapeno sauce, shrimp cocktail For breakfast I would suggest to try their: green sauce eggs, rancheros eggs, enmoladas( very authentic Mexican breakfast in mole) The service is like always friendly, effective ......

Cham K.

Yelp
Not going to lie, I felt this place was a little overrated. With that being said, I gave a 4 star because it was still an enjoyable meal with a pleasant beach-side atmosphere. The Tostada with fresh Ponzu Tuna was exceptional. Loved the amount they give you! What knocked my rating down a bit was the shrimp tacos. I got the "governor style" which was the most expensive style and it was very mushy. The green peppers in the tacos did not compliment it at all. I thought since I am in the Motherland, they should be blowing my mind with this style, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. Don't get the governor style taco and stick with the fried shrimp option. Tostada was fire so definitely get that one!!

Gerald B.

Yelp
Overpriced food and parking is not free. You still have to tip. #SaveYourMoney #GoForRealRestaurant I ordered fish and pasta and it was not great for the price. It was a rip-off.

Danne J.

Yelp
Yummy. We've been here before. The governor's taco is excellent. Coconut shrimp was just okay. Good music

Charles H.

Yelp
MUST VISIT... The food & drinks are outstanding! Been coming here for years & they never disappoint... The lagoon front location & sandy beach floor provides an ambiance that coincides perfectly with "vacation mode".... And, the servers are very friendly & attentive. Pro-Tip: Order your "mojito de vacaciones" upon arrival (vacation mojito).. Best in town.. Note: The grilled seafood platter is a wonderful treat for 3-4 people

Allison L.

Yelp
This place is fantastic for a nice dinner out in Hotel Zona. They were highly rated by Guy Fieri, so there will likely be a wait. There are two parts to this place, the upstairs is a little order counter shack with tables with mainly locals dining and the downstairs past the bathrooms is a large covered cabana area that is more formal where you will find only tourists. The portions are huge and filling! Would highly recommend going with as many people as possible for shares. I saw many tables order the coconut shrimp and got the same, it did not disappoint and was the best comfort food. Also got the clam chowder but would recommend other more traditional Mexican items over this. The mescal cocktails were great and their salsa samplers in the beginning is divine! Will definitely try their seafood entrees next time!

Krishna K.

Yelp
This place is one of the most recommended restaurants in Cancun. It is located in the hotel zone with valet parking. We enjoyed the ambiance, there area some tables near to the water with ceiling fans to cool off. Excellent service, I have asked for the most hottest sauce from their salsas they brought me many samples to try and I enjoyed all of them. Chips and salsa is very authentic, soft shell tacos are really crispy and soft, well seasoned. Oysters are really fresh. We also ordered a whole grilled fish, I wish it was seasoned properly, otherwise it tasted really good. We also ordered a choco lava cake and they made it right served very hot and perfectly baked inside with the melting ganache. Perfect service with the ambiance in the hotel zone.

na a.

Yelp
Hotel recommendations- walkable from the Westin Food and atmosphere was great. The tacos were really good. Definitely casual. You can order take out/ street seating upstairs or walk downstairs to dine in seating. Prices are similar to US. We had clam chowder, 4 tacos, 1 margarita, and dessert and it was $59 us.

Korey A.

Yelp
We came here for lunch due to the great reviews and proximity to our hotel. It was on our hotels list of recommended restaurants and came with a welcome drink. We were thrilled with the drinks. I got a pina colada, my husband got a margarita, my son got a Fanta and my daughter had a virgin pina colada on the house. We ordered the pescadilla and plantain apps. They also brought some chips and a board of different dips. The reddish tamarind sweet sauce was our favorite. The dark red one on the end had the most heat. The plantains were ok by themselves but really good with the sweet sauce. The pescadillas were our favorites, and we would order these every time. Everything came out really hot and fresh. They even brought us a small seafood soup that was super hot with a little spice. For entrees, we got the grilled fish tacos and the governor tacos. The fish tacos were fresh but a little bland. I was wishing for some creamy jalapeno. The governor tacos had cheese and peppers. They were definitely more flavorful. The kids got chicken strips with fries and cheesy pasta. My son Loved the french fries. They were super thin. My daughter really liked the cheesy pasta as well. My son didn't like the chicken strip because they had more of a cornmeal coating. My husband said they were pretty good, though. We will definitely come back here next trip and try a few new things.

Amani S.

Yelp
Loved these shrimp tacos! So close to our hotel and such a good deal. Will definitely come back to try more of their menu!

Carol C.

Yelp
The food was amazing we got the tuna tostadas and Fish tacos! We had a party of 10 girls everyone loved each of their dishes. Thank you for the great service, food and drinks

Marietta C.

Yelp
Awesome food, and great service!!!I. can't wait to come back! Love their fish tacos!

Kianna J.

Yelp
I was tired of the all inclusive food so I wanted to give this place a try. I will say it was the best food we had in Cancun however for the price it was too expensive. We ordered the shrimp tostados those were delicious. We ordered a grilled shrimp taco that was ok not terrible. We also had the battered fish taco that was no good. The calamari was amazing. We also had a whole fish which they had red snapper for the day it was good but not $58 good. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. We came here at night so we did not get much of the water view however we sat on the patio it was nice to be on the water. Very spacious inside with alot of seating. All and all this is as good as it's going to get in Cancun.

Vivian H.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had in Cancun. We didn't stray from the hotel zone, but this place was tourist friendly while having amazing views, service, and fair price given the location. The food came out incredibly fast and the servers were very attentive. Extremely happy we stumbled upon this, though it looks like it's a well known spot. We got the pescadillas, which they're famous for, tuna tostadas, mixed ceviche, and the octopus ele. We also got a complimentary welcome drink based on where we were staying, so we got a margarita and a mojito. I will say: if you choose to get another drink, the welcome drink is far smaller than the actual one you pay for. The octopus was so tender and the ceviche was perfectly tart and delicious. You also get chips and an array of salsas to your table too so keep that in mind when ordering

Rachel D.

Yelp
Enjoyed some oysters Govenor tacos are awesome. The shrimp and ceviche was excellent. Juan Carlos was our waiter. Ask for him. He is awesome

David O.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner here last night. Nice to see the renovation complete. The place looks great. As an added bonus there was live music. I had the fish with shrimp in a coconut sauce. It was a little too sweet for me. My wife had the shrimp wrapped in bacon. Amazing! For dessert we had the pineapple crème brûlée. A huge portion... definitely for sharing. The only flop was the appetizer (calamari) which had a soggy batter- it was supposed to be tempura. Still a very solid dinner at a reasonable price and a great ambiance and view. Would highly recommend this place.

Jim B.

Yelp
We made our annual visit to Fist Fritanga last evening. The place has been remodeled and looks very nice. It was raining while we were there. Our server was very nice and said yes we have redone the place. We had watermelon margaritas that were very good. Wife ordered chicken fajitas and I ordered stuff fish (Mahi Mahi). The best part of the meal was the Clam Chowder!!! It was as good as we have ever had. The fajitas were just okay. The Stuffed fish was tasty but our food was not even warm, I felt like that it was prepared earlier and finally brought to the table. We were not really impressed as we have been in the past except for the Clam Chowder!!!

Ahmed D.

Yelp
Food is horrible and expensive. Beware of fish quality. They tried to cook me a rotten fish!

Anna F.

Yelp
This place was fantastic! Not to mention an excellent escape from the all inclusive life in the resorts where the drinks are weak and the food is mediocre. Not at el Fish Fritanga! Don't be fooled by the roadside picnic tables; a little oasis by the bay awaits just down the stairs! The drinks are strong, the service fun and friendly, and the food was delish. The oysters were pretty eh, but I think that was our fault for ordering Gulf oysters in Mexico... Highly recommend for a little escape from the resorts!

Edward S.

Yelp
El Fish Fritanga is on the busy western side of the Hotel Zone peninsula. You walk past the narrow alley behind the stand and turn left to go down the stairs. The restaurant is right on the sandy beach next to the lagoon. As your dinner progresses, the sun gets lower on the horizon. Pescadilla: The crunchy golden tortilla is an ideal vessel for the moist and juicy nurse shark. The taco is deep fried, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Pulpo Ele: The octopus tentacles are marinated in paprika, and grilled until golden. The skin on the tentacles is soft and sticky. The octopus is meaty and tender. The baby potatoes are soft and comforting. Tixin Xic: Tixin Xic uses the Mayan preparation of steaming snapper in a plantain leaf with red achiote paste, sour oranges, grilled onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and plantains. The fish is sticky, sweet, soft, and flaky and is great with the baby potatoes.

Ellen H.

Yelp
Tuna tostadas are loaded and fresh! Fresh coconut is a must! Mixed ceviche is plenty and the octopus is cooked perfectly!

Ronald V.

Yelp
I like this place great service they had a nice group playing some nice salsa and the food is good second time in Cancun and second time in restaurant.

David C.

Yelp
Great service and food. Right on the water. Great for large parties also for families. We came with kids they have a great kids menu. Joe fue excelente. La chica en el teléfono nos atendió bien y nos consiguió una mesa rápido y fue amable y profesional. Orange shrimp is delicious, but the best was the governor taxo and the soft shell crab (jaiba) tacos

K S.

Yelp
They were out of their delicious mixo ceviche this time. Hope they have more while we are still here! Went at noon and it was SUPER FAST SERVICE!!

Rex C.

Yelp
My girlfriend loves seafood, and I love Steaks, so this was the perfect blend for both of us. Food: She ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and it was very tasty and fresh. Her main meal with ceviche and she absolutely loved it. I'm not big on seafood so I didn't give it a try. However, I did look really good. I ordered the chicken and beef fajitas and let me tell you what they were absolutely amazing. Grill to perfection and tasted so good. It tasted so fresh and we're just literally made to perfection. That was probably one of my favorite meals the entire time I was in Cancun. The service was really good too. Our food came out very fast in the waiters were very attentive. They checked on her to make sure we have everything we needed. The view is pretty cool too. You are overlooking the ocean which is kind of relaxing and there's sand near some of the tables. Great concepts and great food. Do yourself a favor and give them a try.

Lapriest P.

Yelp
I went and had lunch at the place and I'd give it best 3 stars. Margarita that they charged me almost $20 for was wayyyyyy too sour ad the calamari was very bland. I was gonna grab something different, but I didn't want to risk it so I went with the shrimp tacos which were really good. Service was also pretty good!

Israel S.

Yelp
Fresh food great flavor and freshness and friendly service When you find this hidden gem you will go back over and over. We ate there ever day in vacation.

Nate L.

Yelp
We were told by the locals to give this place a try. You walk by the restaurant streetside, go towards the back and down the stairs to the dining area that is by a harbor. The hospitality was excellent, but the food was even better than that. They start you off with chips and 4 different salsas. The only one to be wary of is the habaneros in it. We started with an order of Guacamole and it was smooth with a few chunks of avocado.. delicious. My wife had a Chicken Ceasar Salad and I had a Fish Veracruz (if you don't mind garlic) and both dishes were outstanding! The establishment is worth stopping by.

Lewis B.

Yelp
The food here is so good. You won't regret it. unless you order so much and you get sick and throw up just from being too full. Guilty!!

Joy L.

Yelp
Been here two times when I was in Cancun for a week. Nice attentive servers and relaxing atmosphere. Most importantly, food tasted awesome. We had gotten the pescadillas which was good. Their house made nachos with different kinds of sauces were on point and memorable such as their sweet tamarind sauce and oily hot sauce. I had their seafood rice dish, I believe it's called rutabaga which was delicious, it was like a risotto. Kids love their four cheese Alfredo. Fair prices. Can't complain.

Debra M.

Yelp
As we come back to this same restaurant year after year they never disappoint us!! Today it was guacamole that could feed 6 people for the 2 of us. We also had fish tacos - one sautéed and the other breaded. The sautéed one had a red cabbage and slice of avocado and the breaded had mango cucumber slices and a spicy sauce. The tacos were two but the portions were stuffed full. We enjoyed refreshing lemonade- one sparkling and the other natural. Remember to go downstairs in the back to get to the full restaurant. Ask for Janet as your server!! Always a great view of the bay.

Mike L.

Yelp
Great food and service at a reasonable price! Went there for lunch, it is a nice secluded place to relax.

Sin L.

Yelp
Very nice hole in the wall, priced very reasonably. We got 5 tacos 2 horchata and a burrito for around 15USD, 320 Pesos. Hot sauce is very mild but does have a great flavor. I would suggest sticking with the asada is was by far the best of the meats the fish and pollo were a little disappointing but not bad, just wished we 9nly got asada for everything because it was delicious.

Bruce T.

Yelp
Tried this restaurant because of the great reviews and was not disappointed. Overall experience was phenomenal, starting with complimentary welcome drinks from our resort and their famous pescadillas. The Mojito and Pina Colada were the simply the best I've had, and fish tacos as good as any in Cancun. My wife had soft shell crab tacos, and I ordered the governor style shrimp tacos, and both were amazing. Our waiter, Roger, and their entire staff provided excellent service. Definitely coming back!
