Amazing find in taos. Food was amazing! And I'm not vegetarian. Service was excellent and atmosphere was great. We plan on making this a permanent stop when in town. Try the falafel, they are the best (not too hard on the outside like other restaurants when over cooked) they have a nice light crisp outside and tender inside. Hummus was so good we had to order more. Beer, wine and homemade non alcoholic drinks available. Pet friendly on the front patio. They will even bring water for fido if needed. Best part of all... prices are reasonable. Highly recommend if your in the area.

Sometimes vegetarian food is a compromise for a dining companion. My meat loving husband and myself (a former vegetarian who always loved meat) really enjoyed our meal here. The food was flavorful and filling.

Strolling Bent Street and Taos Plaza, STARVING and chatting with merchants, the answer to the question, "where's the best place to eat around here?", or "what is your favorite local eatery?" El Gamal, was in most every answer.
Cozy, chilled, relaxed atmosphere are just bonuses to the ABSOLUTELY yummy experience at El Gamal! Spicy falafel sandwich and Smokey falafel sandwich are both outstanding, huge, messy and packed with flavor! Appetizer of Fries (that may look like Pries, due to lettering on the menu) with Zatar seasoning shouldn't be missed if you accompany them with the smokey mayo, forget ketchup, trust, the fries and smokey mayo will be your go to side going forward.
Authentic and awesome owner and staff - (look for an Aries with arrows and you've found a gem) - are fresh air, in the wanna be hip arena that Taosites straddle the line of possessing. Go to El Gamal, it'll be your first of "Every time we're in the area".

We stumbled upon El Gamal when searching for vegetarian food in Taos on a ski vaca and were so excited to find it! Incredible staff, the food (daily dosa & falafel sandwich) was superb, and we wish we lived closer. We'll be back next time we're in town!

Love this place. The food is so good, made right with pure ingredients. Kind, friendly staff. Their bread and hummus are very traditional and delicious. The carrot cake is very good. Chefs are great and so are the waitresses.

We arrived shortly before close and Alysha(Elysha?) was beyond welcoming. The menu was jam-packed with foods we adore and what we ordered (goat cheese falafel, dolmas and zaatar fries) was delicious! Highly recommended, especially at happy hour for 3$ wine/beer 🙃
