Nice rural hotel in this scenic medieval village in the mountains north of Madrid. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is very authentic with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast room is spacious and the food was fresh and nicely presented

My partner and I stayed 6 nights in El Hotel de la Villa situated in the village of Pedraza about 90 minutes out of Madrid. |We were staying as part of an English language saturation course for Spanish adults.|As such this review will reflect the fact that the hotel was mostly occupied by 28 clients for the course. |The hotel is situated in the centre of the village which is quaint and beautiful and will appeal to travellers interested in old Spanish architecture. We found building dated 1560 and 1610. The village has several restaurants which serve in the regional speciality dish of milk fed lamb. I have tried this before and can recommend it. Due to the busy week we had here the opportunity did not arise.|If you arrive by car which is almost mandatory you will have to park at the top of the village once dropping of your luggage as the streets are too narrow in most places to allow car parking. Due to the small size of the village this will not be a problem as its a easy walk to anywhere. |It would make a good centre for the exploration of the surrounding area if that is of interest to you.|Regarding the hotel " El Hotel de la Villa" I suggest checking with them if they are having a block booking for the time you are there as we tended to take over the lounge area.|The accomodation was pleasant with I believe each bed room in a different style. We had a modern four poster bed. Nice bathroom and plenty cupboard space including laptop sized safe. We found the aircon struggled to keep the temperaure down and found it better to open the window at night to let the cool evening air in. (early June).|The food was a wide choice of the usual Spanish cuisine and was plentiful and tasty.|If you are interested in art there are many subjects vying for your attention between quaint buildings and secic views.|Around September they hold a festival where the place thousands of lights all over the village and later also hold a classical music festival. We would be happy to return to the both the village and the hotel on our own with the proviso of checking if they are booked with the English language group first.|

I spent a week in June, 2015 in the town....it is too small to be termed a city....This hotel was home for me in the Vaughantown English Program and I found it to be a very pleasant stay. The hotel was very nice, apparently with no two rooms the same in décor. The lobby was not grand, but very inviting. The food was delicious in each meal. If you want to experience Old Spain with comfort, I recommend this establishment and this small town.

This hotel survives on group & business activities & I spent 5 days there as part of an intensive English programme, The accommodation was OK for most people, though my room was one of the smallest with an adequate bathroom, but certainly not one which is shown in the official photos. The communal area is well used & looks tired. The restaurant area has no charm, but then for business conferences & the like, I suppose it is not necessary. The food was frankly very poor indeed & bore no relation to real Spanish cuisine. I am sure the wine we were served came out of barrel although it was presented in a bottle which had always been opened before we sat down. The hotel may not in fact be responsible for this, but perhaps the company which ran the course, but either way I cannot recommend either the meals or the hotel. Other people did have large & well appointed rooms however. The WiFi is a big problem. I was unable to connect in my room most of the time I was there & the others in the group had similar experiences. Spending 5 days without a proper internet connection when you are working is frankly stressful & frustrating. There are basically just 2 members of staff running everything & the lady is overworked but pleasant . The hotel needs updating & extra personnel to warrant the 3 stars it claims to have.

Stayed for 6 days in a classy room facing the mainstreet with a lovely balcony and beautiful view. Pedraza is a quiet and very small medieval village with only a few hundred inhabitants.||||The hotel is well maintained, has a charming lobby and very little staff running the hotel. As long as you ask things friendly they are very willing to help you out. Rooms differ a lot in size and decor but I was happy with my smaller room.||||Foodwise I wish they made more use of fresh ingredients instead of cheaper canned products. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner during my business trip and the food indeed was very variable.||||Breakfast buffet was a lot about unhealthy choices and the cheapest yoghurt next to some fruits whereas lunch en dinner had more healthy options, lovely salads, great desserts and good soups. ||||Fried products were sometimes really too fat so overall I am sure the food can be improved. Certain meat dishes were excellent I have to say so it all came down to making the right choices. Fresh products in general would improve things a lot!||||I would definitely come back even though the food wasn't always great because of the beautiful surroundings, memorable nights at the hotelbar and the possibility to completely disconnect in this lovely town and its beautiful surroundings.

My partner and I spent two nights at the hotel in order to attend a wedding in Pedraza. The town is of course a notably beautiful place, so the location cannot be faulted. The hotel presented well throughout with high standards and clearly a great deal of thought had gone into the décor. Indeed, there was certainly no sign of the anonymity of a chain hotel, but equally the décor was done very professionally.||||Breakfast was nice, with not a huge choice, but nonetheless a good one. In the bookshelf of the reception area are some very interesting copies of Elle magazine from the 1960s and 1970s, which were fascinating to leaf through!

The hotel is very average, though at these prices probably reasonable value. The food is very variable, some really great and some bland and uninteresting. The chef made a great effort to provide gluten free bread for each meal which was appreciated. The conference that I was attending there was marred by the constant smell of cigarette smoke caused by hotel staff smoking in the entrance area and the smoke being blown into the hotel. I politely told the waiter (who turned out to be the owner) of this problem but he didn't take on board this reasonable feedback as it continued throughout the time I was there. However the worst was the safety arrangements. Plans on the back of each bedroom door was a great idea but in the case of my bedroom, (and I suspect others) the map showed the fire evacuation route going the wrong way and directing guests to a dead end. I told the hotel owner but he was uninterested and insisted that it was correct, then he told me that one could go either way which was patently untrue. If this is the standard of safety at this hotel, then its simply unsafe to stay there. Wise to check the exit route wherever you stay, but when the information is just plain wrong then this makes a mockery of providing any information at all.

This is a lovely town on top of a hill with a castle overlooking the countryside. Many cobbled streets and a large main square. The hotel is excellent with varied rooms small to large always well looked after. Good food and helpful staff. Maybe I am easily pleased but this was my second time here and it was as good as the first.
