El Lagarto Steak House & Seafood

Loved the food at this place, ended up going twice for dinner. The atmosphere is really nice, and the food is really good. Ordered the whole grilled squid, mixed seafood platter and beef tenderloin

Food great, service great, drinks great, ambiance great. On the beach, but set back a bit, just all wood everywhere. Could use a little more something for the ambiance compared to other restaurants on the beach for a high end steak house. Everything grilled and gives all the food a great taste. The grilled veggies ( bakes potato& tomato) were fantastic. We shared beef tenderloin and stuffed chicken. Went off the beach in swimsuits with a shirt on and was fine. Don’t have to dress up.

The service and food were excellent, but was definitely U.S. prices for the food. The portions were filling and the drinks were decent. The restaurant was quieter than the surrounding ones, which was nice.

We would not go back there again. We ordered the surf and turf platter for 2 people and 1 lemonade and 1 beer and the cost was over $200 US. On the menu, it said the meal came with extra veggies. The veggies served were 1 grilled tomato, a baked potato and one slice of grilled zucchini. The food was not great. It was okay. For the price, we were expecting more veggies or maybe a salad with the meal. And to top it off, I got food poisoning. There are better restaurants with better vibe by the beach. This one left a bad taste. And the waiter asked for additional tip to which they already added a service charge to the bill.

Nice location at the beach. Unfortunately we had an argument over dinner but that was correctly handled by what we think was the manager. However, it did not change our mind about the food. Ribs weren’t falling of the bone, sides: 1 slice of zucchini, a tomato from the oven and a mid size jacked potatoe, Husband had shrimps, 1 nice juicy one, rest as dry as the Sahara. We went there based on the reviews on the Internet but it wasn’t our night unfortunately. Paid 53.000 colones for dry overcooked food. Such a petty…😢

We came form another place because they wouldn’t serve us and just as Sadie was welcoming us, it started raining. She quickly advised her manager and move us to a covered table, but she refused because we were a party of two, so Sadie did her best and sat us under the only under roof table she had. And then it started coming down however, we were there just for a couple of drinks, and decided to part and leave Sadie a little token of our appreciation, (that as we left found out she kindly shared with her coworkers, what an angel!). I approached her manager and told her about the great experience he had because of Sadie’s excellent manners, disposition, humor, and over all kindness made our rainy evening better, she said to write a review in Google. So here you go: thank you Sadie! Hope to see you when we go back!

This is hands down the best steak house in the area and the only place I will go to get a steak. They cook everything over an open fire so you get the beautiful smokeyness to your food with just a touch of delicious char. You get a baked potato, cooked tomato, and zucchini with your steak. They also have an assortment of interesting and delicious drinks and appetizers. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner. The grilled meats rich with the taste of wood and smoke. Vegetables were one of the surprise stars, the tomatoes best I've ever had off a grill. Very much recommended. Service was excellent (steak wasn't cooked right and they were quick to fix). Visited multiple times and still very much enjoyed.
