El MaPi Hotel byInkaterra

The choice of high-quality hotels close to Machu Picchu is limited, but our travel agency booked us into El MaPi, and we were positively surprised. The service and food were excellent, with both breakfast and dinner included in our stay. The meals were tasty, and the service staff were very attentive throughout. The location is perfect, being only a two-minute walk from the bus and train stations. They even offer a convenient service to pick up your luggage when you arrive by train and deliver it back when you depart. While the entrance and reception area are very modern and stylish, the rooms are a bit more functional and basic in comparison. One functional issue we noticed was the shower, which lacked any shelves for toiletries. Additionally, the bathroom had a high window that felt a bit strange, and we noticed some items left behind by previous guests there. However, given that there are not many excellent options in Aguas Calientes, this is likely one of the best choices available. I definitely recommend giving the on-site restaurant a chance, though there are many other bars and eateries close by if you want to explore.

I stayed at El MaPi Hotel by Inkaterra and overall had a good experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, which I really appreciated after long days of exploring Machu Picchu . One small downside was the shower curtains, they were a bit too small, so water would spill outside the shower area. The hotel restaurant was very good and the food was delicious. Also, when we called requesting extra towels for the room, they brought them within 2 minutes. Overall, it was a solid stay with just a small improvement needed in the bathroom setup.

Roger went above and beyond to make every meal enjoyable. He was incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely accommodating, always making sure we had everything we needed and more. His professionalism and kindness truly stood out and added a personal touch that made us feel well cared for.||El MaPi is a fantastic hotel with outstanding service, and Roger’s hospitality perfectly reflects the high standards of the staff. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Machu Picchu and would gladly stay here again.

El MaPi Hotel is exactly what you would expect when booking a place in the heart of town. You’re surrounded by countless shops and restaurants in every direction, so a certain level of noise is to be expected in such a dense area. The hotel’s interior is appealing and the hallways appear recently renovated, though the rooms themselves could benefit from an update. Inside the room, there’s nowhere to place toiletries in the shower, the bathroom vent is loud—almost like a gas lawnmower—and the small shower drain causes water to back up quickly. On the positive side, the breakfast offers an excellent assortment of fresh fruit along with a good variety of baked goods. Rooms above the 2nd floor that face the mountains provide excellent views. It’s also important to note that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. After exploring the entire town, I can confidently say that El MaPi is one of the better hotel options in the area, especially considering its central location and the attractive aesthetic of the property.

Room was spacious, but very basic. Robes were provided. Food for dinner and breakfast was better than average. Location is central to all. For those that care, there is no A/C. I usually like A/C, but left windows (really a sliding door size) open and I was comfortable. Stayed in October.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. The lobby looked nice, but the room was far from four-star quality — four star where? There was mold on the shower ceiling, and when I asked to switch rooms, the staff said they couldn’t and would just “clean it.” Later, the water from the sink came out brown, and I was told all rooms had the same issue. Completely unacceptable and unsanitary — I would never stay here again and don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

El MaPi is a fantastic place to stay, and the food, drinks, and hospitality are all excellent. I would like to give particular credit to Roger for his great dining service. I would recommend El MaPi if you are staying in Aguas Calientes to anyone.

Overall, it is a very nice hotel, but the noise in the rooms can be excessive. The room doors appeared to be interior doors as opposed to thicker exterior style doors. At least once, I check to make sure our door was closed because I could hear the conversation of the people in the hallway so clearly. Additionally, the end of our hallway had an open-air wall that opened to a bar or club with loud music. I don’t believe it was part of the hotel. Fortunately, we use a sound machine app even at home, so turning up the sound machine took care of the issue.
