Don’t expect anything good from this hotel it actually not a hotel but a hostel type. The management seems to think the Nile River is the only thing that matters, completely neglecting the cleanliness, maintenance, and hygiene of the property. Some staff members seem to assume that tourists are naïve and come from places where cleanliness isn’t a priority, so they don’t bother maintaining cleanliness standards.
We stayed in room 301, and it had a persistent, awful smell in the bathroom throughout our stay, plus it was filthy. There were spider webs on the ceiling and a lot of mosquitoes and flies.
About the food. We asked if they could prepare a nice dinner for us to try, and they promised it would be the best food. So, we placed an order, but despite their assurance that it would be fresh, it was served cold and definitely not fresh.
As for the pool, I’d strongly advise against using it. We saw green algae floating at the bottom, which was absolutely disgusting.
Although the staff might act friendly, that’s not enough. A hotel needs to provide both genuine hospitality and clean rooms to make the experience worthwhile. They even begged us for a five-star review, but when we refused, they got angry.
Breakfast was the same every day, with no other choices offered. The local supermarket behind the hotel is blatantly scamming tourists, the prices was so expensive it is triple than the normal supermarket should sell. The old lady there told us that the supermarket actually belongs to the Mesala Hotel (or hostel). Luxor's attractions are amazing—that's the best part of the trip—If I could give half a star, I definitely would.
