One of the most unusual hotels I have ever stayed at. Lots of open spaces and terraces. There is a tree planted at the fourth floor growing through the ceiling. Very helpful and friendly service. I almost forgot some toiletries and they put them in my backpack when I was out.

My friend and I had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights, while visiting Guanajuato. We were captivated by the beauty of this hotel - the beautiful blend of colonial with modern design throughout the hotel, also the impeccable attention to detail through out, from the beautiful flowers and plants beautifully and strategically placed throughout the hotel, wonderful patios on the both the 4th and 5th floors (blissful relaxation in the evenings to relax and gaze at the beautiful view that is Guanajuato, after a day of adventure) complete with comfortable and beautiful furnishings, tables, etc. and the thoughtful attention to the rooms (all named after noteworthy poets). But in addition to that, hats off to the fabulous staff at this hotel. Every morning we were warmly greeted by Martin, Fernando and others attending to guests over the delightful breakfast (they were just wonderful - kind, helpful and experts), Lucia, Micaela, Margarita and Andre on the front desk, always warmly available to answer questions, provide suggestions, the bell hops Jesus and Alberto, always at the ready to assist with luggage and of course the cleaning staff who were always visible and dutifully keeping this hotel in a pristine state. This hotel is so beautiful and beautiful run by a wonderful and dedicated group of staff. Such a pleasure to have the opportunity to stay here. We were so sad to leave in fact. Thank you all for such a wonderful stay in your wonderful city. You and this beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations and made our stay in Guanajuato so joyful. Thank you!

No English-speaking staff at the front desk, which is unacceptable for a hotel. When I showed my Korean ID at check-in, the lady laughed and said, “Front Chinese letter, back English. Funny.” That was offensive, and she didn’t even apologize after I said it’s Korean. The noise was terrible — loud guests kept me awake even at midnight, and i called a front desk but the male staff couldn't speak English so he came and banged on my door in the midnight. Later, when I tried to pick up a gift left by a friend, the front desk lady first said “no gifts,” then asked to take a photo of my face with her phone to report. I admit this hotel has nice view and good location, but service level can't acceptable.

This is an great place to stay. Their excellent customer service is unbeatable. Our room was very clean and did not have any issues during our stay. There is also a good variety of breakfast options with a very bright and inviting dinning area. I love the terrace that has a spectacular view of the city and a bar to enjoy a drink in the evenings while relaxing. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming...especially with our lack of spanish!!! The breakfast was tasty, had great variety and the fruit was perfect. Table service was great even on the day they were busy. The housekeeping staff kept our room fresh, well supplied and spotless. I highly recommend this lovely, historic hotel that is steps from everything that the old central Guanajuato has to offer.

I stayed in two different rooms. The suite on the fifth floor was amazing. The furniture, the bathroom, the cleanliness, and the views of the city from the windows in the nearby terraces. Fantastic. I also stayed in a first floor room that was a bit dark and had a narrow doorway to the bathroom, but was otherwise very good as well. The location is ridiculously cool and convenient. Very near the center of the interesting part of town.

The location is great for walking in historic centro. Loading and unloading is a bit of a trick. Unload your bags and staff will ride with you to the parking lot which is an experience in itself, but made easier by Jesus, who is working an apprenticeship for hospitality, he was a gem! Rooms are very clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable. The shower is a flow restricted, water fiasco, but that’s not the point. Beautiful surroundings and charm abound. Great stay for sure! We’ll use this hotel again!!

Google
I do not understand how this hotel has received so many positive reviews as our experience was abysmal. Maybe we just got a bad room but the only good things I can say about the hotel was that the location was perfect and the breakfast and breakfast staff were wonderful. That was the good, here is the bad: the room was incredibly noisy, not just the substantial street noise but sounds within the hotel itself came right through the door. The bed was way too soft, to the extent that my wife and I both awoke with back or neck pain. The room had no darkening curtains and this was exacerbated by the light strings on all night on the balcony railing. It was like daylight all night. There was no HVAC and no ventilation, the one operable window above the door had to be kept shut to try to keep the outside noise down. The shower had no water pressure and the nozzle sprayed all over making it difficult to rinse off soap or shampoo. The front desk personnel (with one exception) were disinterested to the point of rudeness. I would avoid this hotel at all costs.

Yelp
This hotel is central to most museums and convenient walk to the shopping areas. You can even grab a cab easily downstairs. There's a cafe down the street and tons of good restaurants nearby and tour buses close by. The staff is friendly and will greet you as you pass by. It's welcoming. I wanted to stay longer, but work calls. Another thing worth mentioning is that it's beautiful inside. It's clear that the hotel utilized all high quality handmade and hand painted wood finishings and antique decorations. Inside you are surrounded by the selected paintings, the modern sculptures, soft armchairs and sofas, and the Tiffany lamps. The views on the terrace and the fifth floors are breathtaking. I posted some photos so you can see my room and the terrace view. There are spots to sit and relax on comfortable furniture. You can grab your food to go at some restaurants in GTO and have it inside the hotel. I saw extra blankets and towels on the bedrooms. If you need lotion, shampoo, soap, they have extra. There's a standing fan and television in each of the bedrooms. Also, I noticed windows and outlets in each room. There's gorgeous tile inside the rooms. Downsides: the walls may be thin for some people, but the quality of service outweighed the noise. In addition, I smelled smoke from courtyard from neighbors so I'm not sure if there are non-smoking rooms but this is something to consider when looking at hotels. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to others!

Yelp
El Meson de los Poetas is one of the most comfortable, attractive, friendliest, and historic hotels in Guanajuato. The place is so beautiful? The staff is so efficient, friendly & accommodating! You will leave as a friend!

Yelp
This place was amazing!!! Outstanding service, tidy little rooms, very nice common areas, and the view from the terrace is pure magic!! The parking was a bit of a hassle, but overall I would absolutely stay here again! Guanajuato itself is an absolute MUST VISIT place! I cannot wait to come back again! Next time I come I hope to stay here, and in the same room if possible!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with excellent service. Stayed here for a family get together, 22 family members in total. We were able to enjoy of the delicious chilaqiules in the dining room that had enough room to fit us all together. The waiters were quick to take our orders and bring us drinks. In the evening, after our tours, we relaxed at the roof top terrace. One night we didn't have time to stop to get beers so the front desk staff arranged for a beer delivery. All the employees went above to make our stay the best it could be. The rooms are full of art history, beds are very comfortable, and room was clean. We are centrally located to all the main attractions, which made it easy to get to in a short minute walk. We would love to come back.

Yelp
Muy bonito y céntrico hotel, si quiere relajarse, este es lugar indicado. Los cuartos y los patios muy limpios. La gente de servicio, recepción y especialmente el Sr. Fernando del el restaurant muy amables y serviciales.

Yelp
First time in Guanajuato and didn't know what to expect, honestly. Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Like most businesses in Guanajuato, it has a very modest, unassuming entry, but once you walk in it opens up and is vastly larger than it seems from the exterior. Lovely decor, great 4th floor patio with covered and uncovered seating to relax, and right in the heart of the action. Very helpful, attentive, and friendly staff, and the included breakfast had great hours, 8am to noon, so no rush. Our beds were firm, but slept comfortably with no issues. Enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay there again on a return visit to the city, which we plan to do. Very much enjoyed the city and the hotel. Stevens Family Houston, TX

Yelp
The place was a joy to occupy. Great rooms, and a delicious, cheap breakfast. Fantastic architecturally, like much of the town is. The staff was very patient with my wife and I, who were constantly losing books and forgetting where our room keys were. These folks seemed to actually enjoy helping people. If they're not careful, they could be found out! Jack Ritter

Yelp
This November I decided to visit Guanajuato which is a beautiful colonial city with lots of tourist attractions which means high hotel prices. El Meson de los Poetas was an affordable and very well kept hotel. 3 night stay (240$ total with double bed), breakfast included was a hit for me. The staff is super friendly and even recommend which tours to choose or can even get a personal tour guide at a low price (20$ to 30$ a day). Housekeeping is on point and are also very helpful. The hotel is located in the heartland of Guanajuato and is within walking distance to the attractions, except for the mummy museum which is 10 minutes away ($4 for a taxi ride there). The hotel has art exhibitions inside. No elevators though. The Diego Rivera museum is almost next door. I will be coming back and stay at this beautiful poet themed hotel.

Yelp
I have a reservation for 5 days. The room was clean and linens are of very good quality. Service is great. The negative and it is a big one, is that, they are expanding the hotel and the noise of cement mixers, metal cutting and workers started early morning making it Impossible to sleep late or rest during the day. Is not fair to expect the clients will love that as part of their stay.

Yelp
I have stated at multiple hotels in Guanajuato, but stayed at this location three times. It's perfectly located. It's next to a cool coffee shop and good restaurants. What I like most about it is that it's not on the main street so I don't get the car and people traffic noise. Breakfast is included, with a very good selection of Mexican food, fruit and cereals. Clean rooms and friendly staff. There are no elevators in this hotel, so get ready to walk up and down stairs. I will continue to stay at this location.

Yelp
Lovely hotel! We had a great time staying here, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and it's right around the corner from the center of downtown. We had to leave town at 4 am for our flight and the hotel called a taxi for us and made sure we got there on time.

Yelp
The hotel stay was good but they referred a tour company to us for day tours. The tour guide claimed that he was a well known painter called Martin Baez. He took 100 dollar advance from us to give us a painting of Guanajuato. He never delivered and was a con. The hotel should avoid working with these tour companies.

Yelp
This Hotel was cool. Its right next door to the Diego Rivera's house that he grew up in. Also next to the tunnel. Its walking distance from most of the cool stuff like the bars, restaurants, cafes, and shops. I was with a family of 5 and they accommodated us with 2 queens and a extra bed. There is free parking which is 5 minutes away. You will not need your car since you its easier to walk everywhere or take a taxi. They also provided us with a free breakfast and it was great. 2 thumbs up!

Yelp
An otherwise really good hotel ruined by the ridiculous noise level. Great location, clean and very unique, but insanely noisy at night and rooms have very little in the way of soundproofing. Pretty frustrating, because I like this place.

Marisol A.

Yelp
From the absolute best location in town (with in walking distance to Downtown), to the immaculately preserved authentic decor, , ( specially the accommodations for breakfast), Ismael and brother were great and super helpful. accommodation at its finest from them two."

Michael M.

Yelp
Nice hotel, old spanish architecture, great service. However bed was uncomfortable and there was thin walls. Hard to get a good night sleep here. But they try there best to accommodate you and the staff is really friendly.
