Mariesol the hostof El Mirador is kind and delightful. |We stayed from the 29th December 2022 until 2nd January 2023.||We stayed in unit A2, which is a self contained unit with a gas stove and fridge...this was so handy..after a long day out it was nice making a home-made meal.|Also loved the view of the Harbour and city from the lovely terrace which is up on the hill and overlooks the bay.|Love the homely atmosphere, and lovely breakfasts, and the location is away from the rush and noise of the city, but still close enough to buy supplies and major sights.|Sad to be leaving this beautiful spot...a real gem, and highly recommended!!!!!!||Jackie & Alex, Cape Town, South Africa

What a beautiful find in the middle of an older neighborhood. The apartment contained a small but quite user- friendly kitchen, and a nice bedroom and bathroom. The view was amazing! Marisol was soooo helpful. She provided a GREAT breakfast, too! Her directions allowed us to walk around the city freely! We'd definitely return should we visit Valparaiso again. When we stumbled upon a bad day in the city, everyone there came to our rescue. Her staff as well as her neighbors assisted us! A REAL JEWEL!

Due to the recent political unrest there were few foreign tourists in Valparaiso hence we were the only people staying for 4 nights. Great for us because we had the corner apartment with an outside deck overlooking the whole city and port all to outselves. Our kitchen had the basic equipment so we were able to make tea/coffee and cook an omelette to eat on the terrace on a couple of evenings after heavy sight-seeing/walking days. There are several little grocery-type shops nearby for supplies. The large and interesting naval museum was 10 mins walk away as was the cable lift - beats a long walk! The Quattre Ventos restaurant is near the lift and great for aperitifs on the terrace - both inside and outside have terrific views and the cocktails are very good. Mariesol, our hostess and owner, is a delightful and charming lady who took great care of us, supplying information and lovely breakfasts. Her large, older house, beautifully kept is within easy commute to the city below via the cable lift. The location is ideal and the view is special. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and can only encourage people to visit Chile and Valparaiso - we felt very safe and saw no demonstrations.

El Mirador, perched high above the city and harbor is appropriately named. Since the best way to experience Valparaiso is on foot, we found that El Mirador's location, in the very quiet Playa Ancha neighborhood was ideal. We especially enjoyed going into town using the cheap and intriguing Funicular Artilleria, a few blocks away. El Mirador is convenient and well-managed with rooms that are comfortable, quiet, and very clean. Breakfast is included in the very reasonable price--a day at El Mirador begins with fresh coffee, a huge bowl of fresh fruit and warm bread accompanied by mermelada, cheese and meat. Our room was more like a private apartment with a kitchenette and separate bedroom. We spent many happy hours relaxing on the back patio which offers stunning views of the city and harbor. |This is our first time in Chile and thanks to a very helpful and accommodating proprietor, Mira Sol, our introduction to Valparaiso and surrounding areas could not have been easier and more convenient. El Mirador became our base of operations and we came to regard it as our home away from home. Thanks to Mira Sol and her staff, we always looked forward to returning there after our trips through Chile. We absolutely loved El Mirador and cannot imagine a better place to stay in Valparaiso.

We had very good 2 nights in this nicely managed hostel with an amazing view over Valparaiso. The owner is very helpful and we appreciated that we had great discussions with her about Chile. We strongly recommend this place, the cost for value is worthed and even it is a bit away from the main touristic places, you can walk or take bus very easily. It is also perfect if you have a car as you can park it safely behind the gate. Try it you will not regret it! Thanks again for your great hospitality. Matthias and Karine.

Maria is so hospitable, very knowledgeable and the B&B is well maintained and easy walking distance to attractions. Breakfasts are fresh and big!||We stayed a couple nights in January and walked each day to city tours and the downtown area. The B&B is well situated to get a taste of Valparaiso. The drive in and out was fairly straightforward as well, if you took a bus and had baggage Maria is just a quick cab ride (or walk!) up the hill.

This old hacienda has several big rooms with high ceilings surrounding a courtyard with a huge shared balcony overlooking Valparaiso harbor. The proprietress is kind and generous—she let us stay quite late on our flight day. Exceptional experience for the price.

The proprietor is very helpful. She doesn’t speak the best English but knows enough. The room was very comfortable and clean. The shower and bathroom were nice. The breakfast was by far one of the best I have ever had at a bed and breakfast. And in the back we sat on the terrace overlooking the harbor and city. The view was simply spectacular. She lent us a wine opener and wine glasses also and a knife and plate for cheese which we are on that terrace. The price was extremely reasonable. There were 3 of us and we paid only $100 per night. It is still off season but even at a higher in season rate I would stay. It’s in a quiet neighborhood not far from the neighborhoods with many restaurants. The bus is only a block away and there are convenience stores near. Uber was cheap and easy to get also. Wi-Fi is available for free. They also have a nice garden to look at and nicely decorated rooms. Great value for the money. We also didn’t hear other guests so the walls were thick enough. And they had shower mats so you wouldn’t slip. This is just delightful place.
