Living in New York City the past 3 years, I have been deprived of quality Mexican Food. The crazy thing is, that sentence is a HOT take if you say that to an NYC native. I've found the hardest thing to explain is the blatantly obvious that everyone has decided not to see. "Well there's this one place DEEP in Jackson Heights..." You've just never been to LA or San Diego, and that's okay. That'd be like me saying LA Bagels are just as good as NY bagels, but I would never say that because I'm not absolutely delusional. All of those two intro paragraphs to say, we came to El Mirasol last night for the first dinner of our family Palm Springs trip. A typical, no frills Mexican restaurant. One bite of these Chorizo Nachos had me thanking god I'm back in the great state of Southern California, where quality Mexican food can be found on seemingly every street corner. The Zo is SO different out here. I went with a large skinny margarita to take the edge off and the Shrimp in Pipián for my main. One of my pet peeves is when a shrimp dish comes with 4 shrimp. I'm a grown man, you think 4 shrimp is gonna meet my protein goals? I felt the good Lord smiling down on me when the dish came with 9 shrimp, mexican rice, refried beans with melted cheese on top, and hand made corn tortillas that were to die for. Not a lot can rival a handmade corn tortilla. This plate was delicious. One of them ones. Had me grateful to be back on the coast with superior Mexican food. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

OOPS! Forgot to take pictures BEFORE eating! Had a enchilada chili colorado, chili relleno, black beans and rice. Also had a large house margaritas; muy bueno! Wife had nearly same combo except her enchilada was with pork and beverage was lemonade. Again, muy bueno! Going back again before leaving Palm Springs to continue the road trip.

We live in the heart of the farm belt with a lot of Latins and have the worst Mexican food. So we drove over 3 hours to eat at this NOT A BAD BITE ONLY EXCELLENT food restaurant. Eat here often!

Beyond amazed at this place. My husband and I like to come to PS to unplug and this is now a staple for us. Authentic food, full of great flavor. Our waiter was so kind and informative. He took great care of us. And there was a guy walking around playing guitar and seeing. I’m not one for live music, but it was very enjoyable. We will always come back here every time we visit. Can’t wait to try their breakfast!

While there are so many Mexican restaurant options in the desert, this is by far our favorite. We have been going here for nearly two decades. Food is authentic and fresh. The mole and the pipian sauces are especially great - seriously, who does a pipian sauce?! The place is always busy, even at 3 in the afternoon, yet the servers stay on their game the whole day. And there is lots of shade on the patio to enjoy dining al fresco. Can't go wrong with this place.

Wow, everything was perfect. I had the shrimp pipián (pumpkin seeds) which was a unique and tasty dish. They even let me taste the sauce before i ordered to try it’ The server told me they make it fresh and have a machine that grinds the pumpkin seeds. I sat outside and enjoyed the music, shade, and amazing atmosphere.

The aervice was friendly and attentive, unfortunately the quality of the food was rather bland. The shrimps in Pipian were just a greasy group of shrimps thrown on top of a spicy sauce lacking any personality. The other dishes weren't any different. For drinks we started with Arnold Palmers and immediately switched to bottled sparkling water due to Clam Juice after taste in the Palmers.

First time here and the food was soooo good. Was in town visiting, meeting up with friends. Conversation, food and drinks were very good.
