EL MÔDERNE HOTEL GIJÓN

Nice view, comfortable rooms. This was by far my most favorite hotel. The service was excellent. They know how much I love onions so the Chef cuts the breakfast cheese with his onion cutting knife... It helps hide my morning Tequila breath before I go to work. Please give the Chef a pay rise.

My sisters and I went to Spain, primarily to see family in Asturias and Gijon. This hotel was marvelous. Right in town, just down the road from the ocean. A beautiful old building with very modern rooms and all the comforts. They have a fine bar downstairs and an excellent breakfast included. And many thanks to Pedro, who was a marvelous host from the time we checked in.

This is definetely a 5 star hotel! Totally new, great touch and design in any aspect, fantastic staff and very good breakfast. Located less than 15 minutes walking from the main square, and very close to several good restaurants. External garage is walking distance.

Perfect hotel in a great location. Other reviewers have noted the "dark theme" that the hotel has. It's very aesthetically pleasing, and not just the "form over function" aesthetic that some hotels have (looking at you, W). I booked the junior suite for my wife and me - it was spacious and so comfortable to hang out in that we only managed to get outside around noon when we got hungry! The desk staff were fantastic - we took Marco's restaurant recommendation for authentic and were delighted. The hotel bar is super chill and enjoyable as well.

A geat stay from start to finish. We stayed here for a week and couldn't fault this hotel. Beautiful, art deco buiding, well situated for bars, restaurants and beaches. The vibe is very contemporary - dark decor, subtle lighting, modern furnishings. Our junior suite was very spacious, with a huge bed, lounge area, great bathroom with quality toiletries and big, fluffy, white towels. The staff were excellent, really friendly and very helpful. We found this the perfect choice for our stay in Gijon and can happily recommend El Moderne.

The good: - spacious room - great location - outstanding breakfast - service in general is good The bad: - no coffee machine in the room - gym is kind of a joke All in all is a good hotel.

Lovely hotel with perfect and friendly service. It is not in the oldest part of the city, but was very convenient for some activities, such as shopping

Stayed at the Moderna for a few nights on trip across northern Spain… beautiful room, great building! Location is solid but is close to some bars and restos that do late seatings.
