wanted to do something really special for my girlfriend because it was our anniversary. She lives in Desert Hot Springs, but always wanted to check this place out. I was a tiny bit worried that it was too close to home and the experience wouldn’t be as special for her as it might be for me. I couldn’t have been more wrong. As soon as we walked in, it was like we were no longer in DHS.| |One of the many things I loved about this place is that you do online check-in before you arrive, so there is no time wasted when you get there. Also, they let us arrive earlier than the usual check-in time, and let us stay so much later than the usual check-out time.| |The first thing that struck me was how friendly Rebecca was, as she gave us a tour of the entire place and told us how to prepare for the next day’s breakfast.| |One of the staff, Sebastian (I think) was so amazing. He kept the pool crystal clear and free of sand and bougainvillea – which, in the desert, is quite a feat. He was also so sweet and friendly to us.| |The second thing that struck me is how amazing it smelled - outside. I don’t know what perfumed the air, but it smelled like spices and travel and happiness.| |We stayed in the 2nd floor deluxe king room (a suite), and it was perfect. The room was painted with rich, inviting colors. There is a lovely sofa and I had every intention of relaxing and reading for at least a little while, but that didn’t happen. There was too much outdoor beauty that took our attention. There is a view of the mountains and the patio overlooks the pool. An added bonus is there is was some shade so we could sit on the balcony and take everything in and it wasn’t too hot.| |The pools and jacuzzi – everything is available 24/7.| |The grounds are lovely. There are places to just sit and breathe, to lie down and relax under a canopy, or to walk around. There are a few cats who make this their home, and we saw and heard so many different species of birds.| |There is Moroccan lemonade and delicious mineral water available all day. There are fireplaces by the fire and in the Casablanca Room (where Casablanca plays on a loop 24/7).| |We both got a Marrakesh Melting Massage. Brisela and Elizabeth were amazing. This was a highlight of an amazing getaway. Please get this treatment! It’s sooo worth it.| |The only downside – and this has nothing to do with the El Morocco – is that we didn’t want to leave during our stay, and Desert Hot Springs doesn’t have very good food delivery options. If we had been willing to leave, Palm Springs isn’t far and there are so many good restaurants there. And, honestly, there are a few really good restaurants in DHS as well… we just didn’t want to leave.| |So, I give this place a 100 out of 5. Way beyond wonderful for a romantic get-away.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The pool and hot tub were lovely and very clean. The decor and surroundings are beautiful. We met a couple of different staff members who were delightful and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The hotel is very comfortable and was very quiet while we were there. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room decor matched the Moroccan theme throughout the facility. The only thing I wasn’t totally in love with was the shower in our room as the configuration of the shower stall didn’t work for me. But that minor detail certainly wouldn’t keep me from coming back and staying at this hotel again.

I love this place so much that I have returned year after year. The mineral water pool and hot tub are open 24 hours. The small size of the hotel, exceptional decor and no-children policy allows guests a truly relaxing experience. The massage therapists are fantastic. I highly recommend spending a few days here.

Google
Had the BEST girls' trip at El Morocco Inn and Spa! They flawlessly coordinated four massages for our group, and we spent the whole day relaxing by the pool and enjoying their lovely facilities. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive—check-in was a breeze, and our massages were absolute heaven. Highly recommend for a pampering escape.

This is an amazing hotel. I come here on my birthdays. I come here to totally unwind and relax and enjoy the mineral spa. It feels like you’re in Morocco when you’re here with the warm sun and Casablanca playing in the background with the beautiful mineral spa. If you’re in the mood for nightlife, you can drive right over to Palm Springs and enjoy the nightlife and the great restaurants and stroll along the promenade in the evening. El Morrocco Inn has been a favorite spot of mine for several years. They welcomed to my elderly service dog with warm Greetings and kindness. The fireplaces are gorgeous. My room featured a beautiful bed with a Moroccan canopy color TV a refrigerator and microwave. A little private room that had a little sofa and a table to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine. The bathroom was very clean and very cutely decorated. The price is great for what you’re getting.

This place is a gem✨ water’s healing and drinking water’s delicious. And the massages are excellent👍 the feral cats are part of this establishment from way back since we started visiting. They won’t bother you .. they’ll keep the mice away🤣

This was a great resort in my opinion. The ambiance was so creative in the way they blocked out the neighborhood on the outside of the resort. The rooms were simple and clean. I liked how they decorated the rooms in the Moroccan style theme. The pool was comfortably temperatured and the spa was heated perfectly. This was a beautiful get away place. The breakfast was complimentary and was just a simple selection of things. The drinking water tasted good as well as their Moroccan tea lemonade.

During my stay I enjoyed my massage by Rebecca, she was kind and professional. I loved the lavender oil and I felt more relaxed after my session. However, the room we stayed in was so small without windows or chairs, and the breakfast was not good. We had low budget food with unhealthy pineapple juice and cinnamon rolls. As a Moroccan, I was expecting something more authentic and culturally related. Edited: I am fully aware that the hotel is not specialized in Moroccan cuisine, but it does not have to be gas station type of breakfast. According to your website: "...We’re pleased to offer all sorts of yummy goodies from pastries, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits and juices...." What we actually had is far from fresh juice. Rather, pineapple canned juice and Texas cinnamon rolls. What matters is not the breakfast itself, it is more the principle. Concerning the room I stayed in, it is ADA compliant hotel rooms can have chairs, but they must allow for enough space for people using wheelchairs to maneuver. My feedback is for the seek of making future improvements and helping potential guests to have a clear specific understanding about what to expect.

Yelp
Wonderful, beautiful and quiet place! Reasonable price, very nice staff. Free and good breakfast.

Yelp
A hidden gem!! We have been going here for several years and each time is a wonderful get away of chilling and relaxing

Yelp
The wife and I absolutely love this place. Moroccan vibe that makes you feel like you're anywhere other than SoCal, Amazing and attentive staff, Mineral pool and indoor hot tub that are open 24/7, giant chess in zen garden, Casablanca playing 24/7, plus Bruno the house cat and Lord of the manor. What more could you ask for? The answer, nothing. Oh, breakfast is also included, which is a plus in our book!

Yelp
A sweet treasure with all you need for a relaxing experience. Staff is great.. Brenda at the desk and Justin.. and really compassionate about helping folk impacted by the fires in LA. Thank you!

Yelp
I have absolutely fallen in love with the EL Morocco Inn. I take my mom to the desert every time she visits from the east coast. We have stayed at all the high end hotel/spas over the years, and I finally found the spot that I will return to again and again. The vibe is serene, quiet (soft music plays while relaxing in the mineral waters) safe and unique. The building is older, but I find this spot to be magical. The staff is attentive and professional. My mom loved Robert (me too) he's what makes a small place like this exceptional!

Yelp
This was the most unexpected and adorable stay! Super relaxing atmosphere, incredible service (attentive, not overbearing and snacks & drinks were self-serviced and plentiful). Really can't say enough other than maybe it can use some fresh linens and small attentions to detail/cleanliness but overall such a relaxing stay - we felt transported!‍

Yelp
Staff and management were great and helpful. Been here a few times and will keep coming back. Massage was also really good try the "Morocco rain" treatment.

Yelp
I've been coming to El Morocco for years, and it still holds a special place in my heart. From the music, to the minty aroma, to the DVD library and Casablance playing on a loop. This place has tons of character, charm, and patina. Don't come here if you're looking for corporate chain sterility. Also don't come here if you don't like cats.

Yelp
This place is such a cute gem! You walk in and the place immediately smells like a spa. Love the ambiance and the rooms are super cute. Clean pool, great continental breakfast with French press coffee. They have a wonderful siting room playing Casablanca. Calm and peaceful. Will be back for sure

Yelp
We have been coming out to the El Morocco Inn and Spa for about 15 years. That alone should tell you how much we love this place! Brenda was exceptionally welcoming and helpful and went beyond those in her care for each guest. She deserves a raise! Also, I had an amazing Reflexology treatment with Rebeca that was heavenly. (I've also had a massage from her that was also heavenly...) It's such a treat to be able to just "be here"... floating in the pool, or spa or saunas... star watching at night. Great vibes all around. Barb McNemar

Yelp
We enjoyed every minute, hated to leave. Staff makes you feel welcome and cannot do enough for you. Amazing place with incredible atmosphere and ambiance with attention to every detail. Feel like we are back in Morocco. We definitely will b back. Thanks for a great getaway.

Yelp
My cousin and I came for a staycation at this beautiful Inn. From the moment we checked in we were transported to an exotic land of relaxation. Debbie greeted us when we came in and gave us a very informative tour. She made us feel right at home. The mineral water pool and jacuzzi are amazing. The rooms are cozy, the beds are comfortable and the mini splits keep the temperature perfect. We enjoyed the infrared saunas and the cold shower area, as well as the breakfast while lounging by the pool. We also loved watching "Casa Blanca" in the lounge area as it runs 24/7. Such a classic! We had a room with a kitchenette that had a microwave but you better bring your own plates and utensils as there are none. I highly recommend the Moroccan Inn and look forward to another stay here soon.

Yelp
Made a desert escape to El Morocco Inn and Spa for some relaxation and peace and truly enjoyed myself. I've kinda wanted to go to Morocco for a while now but haven't had the opportunity, so staying at the inn was a great experience in the meantime. The inn is decorated with authentic Moroccan crafts brought back by the owners from their trips to the Maghreb. My room was decorated with two chaise lounges, a canopy and a camel, not to mention tassels, ceramics and lanterns. I felt like Scheherazade, except I didn't have to worry about spinning tales to save my neck. The waters in the pool and jacuzzi are the world-famous Desert Hot Springs naturally hot spring waters, soothing and great for the skin. The pools are open 24-7 for hotel guests. French press coffee makers are available for guests 24-7 as well. My room had a mini fridge, microwave, and wine opener with bucket. Ice is available in the Casablanca lounge, featuring the movie Casablanca looping all day and all night. (A timely movie if ever there was one, as we watch Russia invade Ukraine. Plus, wow, Ingrid Bergman was a great actress!) Breakfast during COVID is a to-go bag, ordered the day before. The highlight of my trip was my Morocco-tini Scrub and Body Glow. This is the best body treatment I've ever had. My scrub-therapist, Maria, is a genius. She informed me that they make each scrub product on site, including grinding their own sugar. The Morocco-tini includes Sweet Orange Essential Oil, Purifying Salt and Cranberry Juice. Maria's scrub felt like a massage; I truly felt like I was floating afterwards. I loved the hot towel foot wraps and Lavender Oil hydration to finish the experience. If you're staying locally, you can visit El Morocco as a day spa guest. I highly recommend the treatments, honestly the best spa experience I've ever had.

Yelp
It is a great place to relax and enjoy a peaceful time. Very nice and warm swimming pool with, a covered private hot tub. free breakfast infrared saunas, Moroccan mint tea anytime,24-hour pools, Casablanca lounge, fire pits at night ... just makes you feel at home. i was sad to leave but always enjoy my staying there. I will not book anywhere else. will be back.

Yelp
My family spent the afternoon at the spa. We all got massages, which were wonderful! We got to use the pools, and brought our own snacks. Debbie was just a wonderful host during our spa day. We chose this spa because Robert who we visited a few days before took us around first. Maybe we'll stay there sometime, Debbie showed us what the rooms looked like.

Yelp
If I could give El Moroccan more stars, I would. My boyfriend suggested we stay here since he's been to El Moroccan previously. I've always stayed in larger resorts, so my thinking was it would be boring- I couldn't have been more incorrect. From the outside, you could miss the Inn since it's in a residential area. Once you step in, the outside world melts away. Peaceful and tranquil, it offers massage and spa, pool, mineral hot pool, and saunas. In the lounge, there are DVD's to borrow, and Casablanca plays on a movie screen 24/7. In the mornings, there is a continental breakfast to choose from. On the way home, I felt so relaxed, I couldn't wait to book again. If you like peace and quiet and a true healing environment, stay at El Moroccan, you won't regret it P.S.- It's BYOB, but there are mini fridges.

Yelp
Delightful spa, very clean & organized! Debbie is fabulous! she's so personal & capable. Breakfast is included & well done the way it's served.

Yelp
Awesome boutique hotel. I loved the place. We had a 2 day stay and it was so relaxing and peaceful. The Spa Services are 5 stars. I took my 93 year old mother and sister and we all can not say enough how great our Masseues were. We look forward to a return visit.

Yelp
This was our second stay at the El Morocco. The first one was in 2010. We always remembered how charming it was and always wanted to come back. The staff has changed, but it still retains all the charm and loveliness that we remembered. Phil and Sebastian saw to our every need. The rooms are comfortable and the pools are relaxing. It's the perfect getaway!

Yelp
Went here at 9.30, I like this place. Not too big to be overwhelming, it's quiet and peaceful. We bought the day pass for $60 per person, it's including towel and bath robe to use there, a locker with a lock.. They have steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi pool and swimming pool. Free iced water and iced lemonade tea, There's little garden if it's not too hot to hang out there with hammocks and some gazebos. At the lounge they have a big screen TV playing Casablanca when we got here lol Bring some food and your favorite drink so you can have your little picnic time in between your soak time. I'll come back here for sure.

Yelp
It's gone downhill. We've been coming for years but this time was disappointing. The hospitality isn't what it was. The rooms are in disrepair. I'm eaten alive from all the flies, mosquitoes and ants. No hot water in our shower and the pool was dirty both days we were here. This could be such a gem...it's sad.
google avatar

Yelpalicious L.

Yelp
Me and my crew have been coming here for a few years now and love it dearly. The staff are wonderful and helpful. I know that the pandemic hasn't been kind to many hospitality businesses and the fact that they are still open for business is colossal. This resort is quite special. I just hope that the owners continue to take care of it and maybe upgrade a few things so the joint doesn't fall apart. Cheers!!

Yelp
Love this little out of the way place for a massage and sit in the sauna and use the pool. Very nice value and good little fun hippy spot!

Yelp
So delightful. This is a best kept secret. When you're here you leave the world behind. And the front desk is lovely. True customer service. Love it.

Yelp
I went with two stars because the initial impression of the resort is wonderful. After I completed the check in I was given a tour of the resort and then shown to my room. Everything was very exotic looking with billowing drapes in the room and the hot bath. I'll start with the room. Very worn looking and old shag carpet. Tiny bathroom. A number of different lamps which were not on a wall switch and some were plugged into extension cords. Mini fridge and microwave, also TV. I was provided with robe, two pool towels and some rubber shower shoes. The robe was very comfy. Breakfast, very disappointing, especially compared to the website. You order the evening before and the choices are limited. The next morning you pick up your food from a fridge, it's in a little paper bag. The bagel was wrapped in Saran, cream cheese was a single serve squeeze pack, avocado and tomato were wrapped in wax paper. One day I ordered the cinnamon roll, it was prepackaged like you might find in a gas station. Mineral spring pool and jacuzzi, aaaah, nice. Spa services. I pre booked my services. Salt scrub with hand and foot acupressure add on. The scrub was wonderful. The add on was disappointing and was only feet, not hands and feet as described on the website and spa menu and was definitely not worth the extra money. I also had a raindrop massage and a hot oil head massage add on. Delightful. I asked for a partial refund for the acupressure add on. Initially the desk person said I was wrong about the description, then he said I would have to talk to the masseuse about it. Finally he said he would check with the manager and get back to me. After a relaxing spa service I did not need to get the run around. When I checked out I saw that there was no adjustment to the price. I was told that it was taken off of the masseuses tip because she felt bad that I wasn't satisfied!! WHAT?!?! That was just not right. Cleanliness. I was only offered room cleaning once during my 5 day stay. I asked only that the garbage be emptied. The cleaning lady was very worried that I would tell the owners she didn't do the room and she would get fired. That also did not sit well. I wondered how clean the resort could be with all the hanging fabric, especially in the jacuzzi area. While I enjoyed my stay I would not go back there.

Yelp
What a charming place! My wife and I were looking for a tranquil weekend get-a-way. The El Morocco was the perfect venue. The moment we walked through the door we felt a sense of relaxation and peace. We enjoyed swimming in the mineral pool as well and soaking in the Jacuzzi. What's nice about this property is that it's within easy driving distance of Joshua Tree National Park and only 20 minutes from Palm Springs. Shout out to the staff. From Ozzie who I initially spoke to when booking the hotel to the Manager Phil and his wife Helene. One last note - when I got home I realized that when checking out I had filled up a thermos with their complimentary mint lemonade and had left it there. I called and spoke with Debbie and she told me that they had it safe and sound and offered to mail it to me. Thank you to the entire staff at El Morocco!

Eva L.

Yelp
Definitely our favorite go to spot. My sister and I just returned from a wonderful two day stay. From the staff to the waters it was awesome

Yelp
It hurts my heart to write this, but El Morocco is no longer the hidden gem it used to be. My husband and I have been visiting since 2014, but the decline over the last couple of years has become too much to look past and I will no longer recommend it to anyone. We just got home from our last trip and the problems were numerous. 1. Reserved room 204. Upon entry, the room smelled musty/like mildew. There were multiple soft spots in the bathroom floor which was interesting because new flooring had been put down. I immediately asked management if we could move to another room if one was available. He seemed annoyed and blew me off saying that 204 is a corner room and gets neglected and if room 109 didn't get reserved the next night, we could move. (The soft spots were so problematic I had a dream the floor fell out!!). The other issues with the room were the AC unit and refrigerator. The AC was so loud, it actually vibrated the bed. That combined with the loud mini fridge compressor going off throughout the night made sleeping impossible. We also had issues with the hot water in the shower. Last but not least, the beds used to be luxurious with lots of pillows. The pillows on the bed this time seemed like they came from an airplane. Absolutely awful. 2. There are cameras EVERYWHERE. Why in the world are cameras pointed at the pool? At the lounge area in the back? In the kitchen area? In the entry way? We counted seven cameras total. It was creepy and felt intrusive. The neighborhood isn't perfect, but I never felt unsafe there. That many cameras inside the Inn was incredibly off putting and couldn't possibly be due to security issues. 3. Plumbing was a HUGE issue. There was a back up in the kitchen area and drain cleaner was used. The smell wafted out to the pool area and made me feel sick. The sink issue never got resolved- the sink was still backed up when we woke up this morning to get coffee. There was a major plumbing issue the last time we were there too. It seems like they need to do more than a band aid fix. 4. The pool was a hot mess. It used to be so clean and clear, but the water was slightly murky and there were so many bugs in the water, I didn't want to put my head under. Also, the plaster of the pool was all pitted and dirty. I still got in though because it was 110 degrees. The hot tub was worse than the pool. The water was even murkier and had many dead flies floating in the water. I did not go in. I couldn't even enjoy the pool on our last morning there because someone had broken a glass near the pool and there was glass at the bottom. The broken glass around the pool was still there when we left to check out (as were used cups). 5. Lots of power strips and daisy chains running power/WiFi around the Inn. 100% not safe. 6. The mint lemonade was no longer as it was in the past, and more often than not there were no clean cups for water/lemonade. This has never been an issue before. 7. The once charming decor/environment is no more. Rotten wood, hideous lounge cushions. No more chill music playing ( or when it was on, it was only on for a bit). Very sad to see it in such a state. 8. The staff used to keep the place super clean, but cups/empty soda cans were left to linger around the pool (also broke glass. Very safe.). Used towels stayed on chairs. I'm Ute it was due to the day use people, but still. 9. No more complementary cookies/dates/dried apricots 10. No more magazines to read. 11. The complementary breakfast that used to be so awesome is no more. It changed during Covid which I totally understood, but it's still a pre-order thing and you have to pick your paper bag of food up from the kitchen refrigerator. I really missed the cute buffet with bagels and all the fixings, fruit, oatmeal, etc. they even had toaster for the bagels. We ended going out for breakfast both morning of our stay. The management never checked back in about our room issues or apologized. I don't think room 109 ever got booked and management didn't care one bit that we were unhappy. When we checked out this morning, all he did was grumble "checking out?" As he kept his eyes on the computer and went back to eating his bagel. I dropped the keys and tried to not let the door hit me on my ass on my way out. At least we had a few short years with the complementary happy/social hour and hand washing ceremony with rose water. A beautiful and unique outdoor sitting area shaded by colorful cloths and a fun fire pit. A nice kitchen area with great snacks that made you want to hang out at the pool as long as possible to socialize. Do yourself a favor and don't book a room here. I'm still shocked that I was charged full price for such a subpar experience.

Stacie R.

Yelp
I went there just for a massage but will be going back just to sit back, relax and enjoy the ambiance. Maria did my massage and she was the best!!! I for sure will be requesting her next time. Robert....the ultimate host. I knew this was a place I wanted to visit just by our brief phone conversation when I booked my massage. He's truly a gem. FYI....if you don't like cats, be warned, they roam around freely but don't bother you one bit.

Yelp
My friends and I (party of 5) had a great time at El Morocco Spa!! We each got massages or body treatments and they were very relaxing for a fair price. Since there were so many of us we had to stagger us, so 3 of us first then the other 2 after. We relaxed here from 11am til about 3pm on a Friday. All of the staff were so courteous and nice. This spa is such a beautiful place and the facilities were excellent. I especially enjoyed the mineral pools. They had complimentary drinks and also mini fridges if you brought your own food. We were also allowed to bring our own alcohol (no glass bottles). I also liked the locker system with complimentary towel, robe, and shampoOverall we had such a fun time! I will definitely be back! Thank you El Morocco Spa!

Erin B.

Yelp
I'm sad to post this as my husband and I have been coming to El Morocco for over 10 years. After our first visit I wrote the place a 5 star review that you can still read. My husband even proposed to me at El Morocco. We just left from a visit and the place is not what it used to be. It has become increasingly dingy and in poor repair, for example the once beautiful hot tub now has green water and a pock-marked floor. Where staff used to be the soul of courtesy and hospitality, they are now gruff, rude and do not want to be bothered. We can only conclude they are not being treated very well by their employers, or the owners don't care enough to provide training for them. There were once almond cookies, dried apricots and the delicious Humphrey Bogart (an Arnold Palmer made w Moroccan Mint tea) in a dispenser at all times - now there's no little snacks & half the time the dispenser was empty or so watered down as to barely taste like even lemonade. Even the ever running Casablanca in the lounge couldn't be heard because the sound bar was broken, as was the gas fireplace. The once lively complimentary drinks at 5:00 where the hosts washed your hands with rose water and you met and hung out with other guests is now a distant memory. The rooms aren't even thoroughly cleaned. Furthermore, the romance of the place has been killed by cameras EVERYWHERE. They feel very intrusive and I don't want to pay that kind of money to be recorded every second. The back garden is full of blanched furniture, overgrown vegetation, and the games we loved to play are in disrepair. Why keep the bocce court if you aren't going to maintain it? We loved this place and wanted to keep coming here forever but, sadly, this may be our last visit.

Leslie G.

Yelp
We went for a day and had massages from both Leslie and Maria. They were excellent. The host, Robert, was incredibly pleasant and attentive. We found the large mineral pool to be very clean as was the jacuzzi. There were ample lounge and upright chairs. The towels and robes were nice quality. The setting is in a very modest neighborhood but once you are within the gates you feel quite protected. The Moroccan theme works well with some observed deferred maintenance issues in an aging property. Nevertheless, the whole place was clean, comfortable and we felt well cared for. We definitely would return for day services.

Yelp
I really wanted to give El Morocco Inn and Spa a better review due to the relaxing hot spring pool and jacuzzi, friendly staff and potential they have, but I barely feel right leaving this 3 star review and it is more of a 2.5. We stayed Sunday through Thursday (the longest we have ever stayed in the area) and barely made it. A positive is definitely the hot spring water, but the first night it had a strong chlorine smell which I guess is good to know it is clean, but made our skin itchy and did not smell nice. They have several outdoor lounges, however lots of them looked pretty flat and could use some love and there was not really any shade around the outdoor pool except underneath the building by the guest rooms. They have a sauna upstairs, but the stairs were very dilapidated and the railing was very loose, so we did not venture upstairs to use it. You can only get pool towels while the staff is there until 5 or 6pm, so if you are an overnight guest and need a dry towel after 5 or 6pm be sure to ask for one before the staff leaves. They have a small kitchen-ish area open 24 hours with water, their moroccan mint tea lemonade, coffee pre-measured in French presses of 3 different strengths and they do offer a bagged breakfast with the choice of a plain bagel with several topping options like cream cheese, tomato, onion, hard boiled egg and avocado or a small pastry or yogurt or instant oatmeal and maybe a couple other options I did not choose. They have a small indoor room that plays Casablanca on a loop which is charming and a large amount of DVD's to choose from to take back to your room for your viewing pleasure. They allow day guests and smoking in an area across from the only private inn room behind the main courtyard next to their spa rooms (which happened to be the room we booked. We were offered to switch rooms due to the smoke, but decided to stay in it and only had 2 brief incidents where the cigarette smoke blew our way). They have locker rooms, a clean bathroom and an outdoor shower area that has a door for privacy. Now onto the room itself which again was off the back of the property and had an additional fee due to it had a small private outdoor area. The outdoor area felt very dirty and there was no shade at all during the day, so we never hung out there and the path coming off the main property did not connect the whole way to our room and there was several feet of uneven dirt to walk through to get to the gate for the room (they should add paving stones or even a gravel path would be better then the uneven dirt) and it left our feet dirty getting back to the room. The bed was like a brick or a rock and was so uncomfortable, possibly the worst bed I've ever slept in and left my back and body super sore (maybe to encourage the hot springs, but was super terrible). There were 2 of the loudest air conditioners in our small room and although they did cool off the room, the light on the main one was so bright along with the noise they made when they kept turning off and on, it made it even more difficult to sleep on the uncomfortable bed. I know they cannot control nature, i.e. the crazy noisy birds, but I could not not mention the flock of birds that would congregate outside our room from around 10pm-4am and have full on rambunctious debates. I never knew birds were that active at that time or had that much to say. The shower in the room was not usable for my husband as it was so small and did not work well for me either as the shower head was pointed at the wall above my waist and could not be adjusted and I was barely able to rinse off the soap below my waist and used a cup to help rinse my legs and feet (hotel guests are allowed to use the outdoor shower which was nice except having to walk through the uneven dirt to get back to the room.). The grounds overall were clean, but the property could use some updating. We did peek into 2 other rooms when we were considering switching rooms due to the cigarette smoke, but they looked like they needed a lot of TLC/updating too and the carpet was not as fresh looking as the private room we had so we did not change rooms. The staff was super friendly from the check in area to the housekeepers. They do offer a late check out if no one is checking into your room the day you check out for an additional fee. I hope they are able to refresh the property and switch out the mattresses as I would not recommend an overnight stay at this time.

Yelp
Nice place. Great mineral pool; awesomely huge jacuzzi; several Sry Saunas; pretty walk around grounds that are calming & serene.

Yelp
This is our second time here. It was very quiet and relaxing the first time. Feral cats have taken over the place since our first visit. I like cats, but these are not spayed and are unclean. I feel sorry for them, which is not why I came here.

Yelp
My friend and I booked two massage treatments this week, and were extremely disappointed by the service. I got Marrakesh Melting Massage. The massage therapists were extremely unwelcoming from the very beginning. They didn't smile once and started their introduction with saying that we can't take masks during the session and if we feel like suffocating, we can step out, but this time will be subtracted from our session. (A very "nice and inviting"opening...) After that, they followed with rudely letting us know that if we aren't happy with the pressure of our massage, we can let them know, but it will be for an additional charge. (Ehmm excuse me?) Well, when the massage began, I felt that the therapist was simply sliding the oil over my skin with absolutely no pressure. I was not enjoying it at all, however I was under pressure of not letting her know as I will be charged God knows how much, in top of $130 which I already paid for the treatment, which DOES include deep tissue massage!! During all session, it was obvious that she had a stuffy nose, and she event had to leave the room for a minute or so. She was clearly sick, which is pretty concerning, ESPECIALLY during the pandemic - quite unprofessional and VERY concerning. This treatment left me absolutely disappointed and even more stressed in the end, and I would never ever recommend to get this treatment at this Spa.

Yelp
Whites only preference? Maybe. So my most recent visit was mixed. I've been there about 4 times since 2017. This time, it was really obvious how problematic the manager's behavior is. He's always unpleasant to me, which is more clearly internalized racism because I watched him be very kind and thoughtful with white couples on my 3-night visit. I also witnessed him being particularly rude to an older Asian guest even speaking gruffly to him with an elevated voice. Then it was time for my birthday massage and it was microaggression after micro aggression ending with a stressful massage in which I replayed his nasty demeanor to me. Well even after I wrote a note while there, he never bothered to apologize or make amends. We'll be looking for a new spa for next year. This one is more for white clients.

Yelp
*** Edit for COVID*** My husband and I love coming here. We really wanted to get away for our anniversary and we figured we'd be safe enough at El Morocco since it's a small boutique resort. We couldn't be happier with how clean it was!! Instead of a buffet breakfast, you place an order the night before and receive your order in the morning. I think I prefer it this way! As always, it is so relaxing here. I'm so glad we came. And now we'll be spending the next month diffusing essential oils at home to try to get it to smell like El Morocco and making mint tea Arnold palmers...

Yelp
Many years later and still a huge fan of the El Morocco. Things look a little bit different post/ Covid, but that does not detract from the lovely atmosphere. They no longer offer spa treatments, and the happy hour with Moroccotinis are gone as are the 24/7 snacks. The wonderful mint tea lemonade and water is still in tap. The complimentary breakfast still exists but instead of served buffet style, you order the night before and you receive your breakfast in a bag the next day. The French press coffee is wonderful. I can't get enough of the Moroccan inspired atmosphere as well as the two hot spring pools, and one is a Jacuzzi. Adults only intimate setting, leave the kids and pets behind. Robert is a wonderful host/manager. Support the El Morocco. It's a gem in the desert.

Yelp
I really like this place. The ambience is very quiet and peaceful. From the moment you walk in the front door and you smell essential oils to the wonderful decor, it was imported from morocco. They welcome you with a very friendly and inviting Manor. The rooms are pretty quiet, the beds are very comfortable with nice linen and the rooms are reasonably spacious. The swimming pool is wonderful and The mineral pool is absolutely wonderful. If you want a relaxing time, I would highly recommend this place which is reasonably priced considering how nice it is.

Yelp
My boyfriend found this place via Yelp on our Palm Springs trip. We were planning on staying at this hotel but decided to stay closer to Palm Springs. We purchased the couples massage and chose the "Marrakesh Melting Massage". We were told to wait in this area 5 minutes before our massage time. We were finally greeted by our massage therapist a few minutes past our original massage time. The massages were awesome very relaxing there were times the massage was a little too firm which did cause my leg to bruise and my boyfriend did complain about his upper back hurting the next day. The day pass came with access to the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. We used the sauna that was located on the second floor, this sauna definitely needed to be updated/replaced...wood was broken, buttons were broken. The steam room that was outside on the first floor was amazing! The jacuzzi was nice and hot but my main concern was how dirty the tile was. The pool is naturally heated to 90 degrees, it was luke warm and needed to be cleaned. The massage cost $130 each for 60 minutes which included the day pass. Overall I would love to return but hope that some updates are made especially for the price.

Yelp
My husband and I were thrilled to find this gem of a place to come to for our much overdue trip to DHS. I was in great need of some peace, quiet, privacy and rejuvenating mineral water and all of that was here. Most of the time we were here we had the hot pools to ourselves. The clientele we did encounter were considerate and mostly stayed in their rooms! The staff: Robert, Debbie, and Maria were very friendly, professional and accommodating and made sure our visit was comfortable. I also had a mixed technique massage ( Swedish, Lomi and deep tissue) and the masseuse was very experienced and eager to meet personal therapeutic needs. The continental breakfast was surprisingly complete ( where else can you order avocado with your bagel?) and we loved the pre-filled French press coffee . My only suggestion might be to offer fresh quality pastry and/or bread. We happened to have gone to Morocco in the Fall of 2022, and I can say that the Moroccan atmosphere and decor ( especially all the great lamps) were very authentic and true to the vibe of Morocco! Bravo! By the way, if you ever go to Morocco you will find out that cats rule and are everywhere! I loved the cat energy of the inn! I will be recommending this place to my family and friends and plan to return on our next trip south to the desert. PS. We would like to stay upstairs again... so it would be great if the upstairs sauna could heat up more to the usual sauna temperature! Thanks and see you next time!

Yelp
A JEWEL, an absolute hidden TREASURE! We spent 3 nights here, desperately needing relaxation and boy did we get it. As most people have commented, unfortunately Desert Hot Springs is not the most eye catching city in California, it looks like an episode of COPS and is terrifying upon entry, BUT don't be fooled, this amazing place is absolutely jaw dropping once you enter! You're pretty much left to do whatever you want during your time there, the rules and facilities are clearly explained and you decide what and when. in 3 1/2 days we only left for an outside meal twice. A light breakfast is provided and there are fridges in the room so we just had a variety of wine, meats and cheeses that kept us properly fed during our stay. ROOMS: Modest, practical, decorated with exquisite detail and very clean and comfortable. We loved the sheets so much that we took photos of the tags and bought the same set for our home! POOL: Gorgeous and relaxing, stays at a comfortable 94 deg 24/7 so you can take a relaxing dip 24 hours a day. HOT SPRING: Amazing too, clean, relaxing, soothing and beautifully decorated. SPA: Insane!!!! We received 5 different massage/spa treatments and each one was to die for. Professional, wonderful staff, we loved the variety of spa treatment options on the menu so this was the deciding factor in our stay as we really needed the relaxation after 2 yeas of non-stop work. The level of skill of each therapist is amazing, they saved our lives! A truly amazing place and we hope to visit more often from now on. The owner REALLY knows how to make this place special. The only recommendation we would make very personally would be to possibly implement a no computer, no phone calls policy as we encountered these from other guests and they were a bit distracting and not in tune with the extremely relaxing and soothing ambient that had been so carefully crafted.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's bachelorette, we were only here for the day. I can definitely say I was a bit confused trying to get here as you enter a what looks to be a neighborhood with houses surrounding the area. We walked in and greeted pretty quickly and we were given a tour. As anyone who can see this place it is on the a bit of the older side. I like the fact that you can bring in your own food and alcohol! The pool and the hot tub was decent. There was a good amount of places to sit, lounge chairs and cabana like seating. There are changing rooms with lockers, several places to take a shower [all are located outside], I would suggest to keep your suit on and wear flip flops. Around the space there are also places to play games and there is more seating. Since this place is suppose to feel Moroccan, there was quite of bit of dirt hanging around. As far as my massage went, unfortunately it wasn't anything special. My masseuse didn't seem like she was really into it, maybe a little too tired that day? The room was very dark and all I kept hearing was the air conditioner or fan running... talk about relaxing! -not- The option to bring our own food, drinks and the fact this place isn't very busy... overall makes it more enticing to possibly come back.

Yelp
Day 2 here and im so relaxed..checking in was easy. Checked in with Ozzy who gave me a tour of the facility and how to use the different saunas and told me the temperature of the water in the pool and jaccuzi. Ozzy also recommended restaurants close by and had menus on hand for different eateries. They also serve a continental breakfast here with decent choices. The town closes really early so nice that the pools and jaccuzzi are open 24 hours. Also very quiet here- adults only. They also have a folder with information about spa services and things to do. Planning on a day trip to pioneertown tomorrow which i mrver knew existed....thank you EL MOROCCO INN AND SPA...WILL DEFINITELY BE SHARING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

Yelp
This review is past due, as we came here about a year ago. It's a cute and charming boutique hotel with natural hot spring water pools and a spa (spa may not be open during COVID). The vibe is very relaxing, and other clientele are friendly but not intrusive. It's basically in a residential neighborhood, so don't worry that your GPS has steered you wrong. The hotel is adults only, which is a slight bummer since we have a baby now, but it's nice and quiet without kids or pets, so that is nice. Breakfast and coffee is included in your stay, and hopefully after COVID they can reinstate the 24-hr. snacks.

Yelp
Lovely stay in Desert Hot Springs. The staff was sweet and friendly. The grounds had a large mineral water pool 80F and huge jacuzzi 100F (fits probably 15 people). Both are open 24 hours, and you can enjoy a nighttime swim underneath the stars. There is a nice, relaxing backyard area with hammocks, giant chess table, and a sauna. They also have their signature "Humphrey Bogart" Moroccan mint tea lemonade and spring water available all day. There's a small daily breakfast buffet and daily cocktail hour (either 5-6 or 6-7 depending on the day). You can enjoy your drink poolside by the fireplace. The rooms are spacious with Cal King sized beds and Moroccan theme decor. Plenty of pillows to go around. Only negative is that the plumbing is quite old so some of the rooms have faulty faucets/toilets. Parking is included. The hotel is a quick drive to Palm Springs, nearby casinos, and plenty of shopping. I would stay here again.

Yelp
Lovely place scenery. Pool was a little outdated and not warm enough for my taste. The Robertos were friendly and welcoming. The lady working there was a little intrusive when my bf and I were trying to have quiet alone time. She even recommended Azure another spa which I found a bit unprofessional. If she would not have approached us in the end and chatted away, I'd give it a 5.

Yelp
We have been coming to this bed and breakfast for the past 10 years. It's our spot, our home away from home. Love the soft Moroccan theme music, the smell of essential oils, having Casablanca playing in the background.... This is a place to relax, enjoy the atmosphere and soak in the mineral waters. And a bonus is seeing the people who work here like Robert, Ossie, and Amalia. Being able to get a massage is another reason why we come. It's a beautiful place to be transported to another world. Please don't change!
