Google
Nice place, we were there for dia de los doggies. No dogs inside the museum so we can only review the grounds. (They offered to watch our dog but we declined). Grounds are very nice as are the staff and volunteers.

Several beautifully created dioramas depicting the ancestral progression of the Aboriginal population. What I found particularly interesting was the origin of mezcal from burnt agave. Also, spare a moment and check out the Border Patrol Museum next door!

It always very educational to be at this place, it’s great to know about the rich cultural history of the area. And always great merchandise at the gift shop. The outside area has an amazing view to the mountains

Went to the pavilion outside for ghost stories that started at 7:30 pm. The museum was closed. Had a great time learning about paranormal activities that happened in El Paso’s past. It was hosted by: Lost El Paso Paranormal Community.

This is a very interesting and well laid out museum. It’s not very big, maybe 30-45 min to wander the two large rooms, but it has just enough detail to be interesting. Great overview of area history from archeological sites in TX, NM, and AZ. Outside the building is a great botanical garden with local plants, well labeled. Free to wander around but why not make a small (or large) donation to help support such a great place? Worth a trip if you’re in or coming through El Paso.

Google
It's a wonderful museum with artifacts, pictures, and dioramas of prehistoric settlement of the region. They have a fantastic collection of pottery and beadwork on display. Don't miss the collection drawers of beadwork, moccasins, and stone work. Admission is free, but they accept donations to support operations. There is also a lovely desert garden with walking paths and interpretive signs. The parking lot is a little small for trailers and RVs, but you can park in the Border Patrol Museum next door and walk over using the nature trail.

Google
This was a really awesome museum. We loved all the exhibits and information. I loved the walking trail with the plants all labeled so we know what we are looking at. Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!

Google
Great place to visit and learn about the culture that surrounds El Paso. Outdoor scenery includes a variety of plant life that are labeled. Desert plants. Lots of historical information..

Yelp
We attended the archaeology homeschool event! It was absolutely amazing! I loved how passionate and knowledgeable the staff are. We never been to this museum prior to the homeschool event. It's a must see! They have so many beautiful artifacts, you learn so much about the native plants, animals and people who once lived here before. They have an excavation site where my kids enjoyed finding thing by using tools archaeologists use. They learned so much with the help of ms. Brooke! We enjoyed the classes and the hands on learning and skills. Highly recommend visiting and learning more about El Paso.

Yelp
I like here a lot since I have an interest in archaeology. Plus, my canine babies were able to enjoy walking in their gardens. The signs withdrawing the attention to snakes and wild animals are scary, but we didn't see any snakes. A great place to stop by

Yelp
This is a free museum right next to the Border Patrol museum, which is also free. We spent maybe 30-45 minutes in the museum. Outside, there are trails, which were unfortunately closed when we visited. They also have a garden area with examples of local plant species. There are quite a few exhibits that show life for the indigenous populations that existed in and around the area that's now El Paso. They had some replicas and some authentic pieces from the area. It was a good surface level introduction to the area, especially if you aren't from here or familiar with the history, which I am not. I'm hoping to find more places like this and to keep learning more about this beautiful part of the country!

Yelp
We were looking for someplace to go and randomly pick this spot. Although the trails were closed due to the weather the inside was very impressive. No charge to get in and the history of the Native American Indians were great

Yelp
A promising museum and a great place to take the little ones to learn a thing of two about the city they live in. I think my favorite part of this museum was the exhibits on the right and the trail outside the museum. The El Paso Museum of Archaeology is very tiny, but the Border Patrol Museum is right next door so you can totally pair up the two and have a longer experience. You could even throw in a trip to the Franklin Mountains through the Tom Mays Unit and go hiking or rock climbing. This museum is a whole lot of seeing and imagining and reading with a few interactive items. I think they could work on expanding this museum ('cause let's be honest, they have the room) and adding more exhibits with more interactive features, but for what it is I like it. The gift shop at the front has some nice inexpensive things like shirts, toys, walking sticks, magnets, and shot glasses. I do wish they had a bigger selection of items that actually have the words "El Paso Museum of Archaeology" on it because I firmly believe if you don't have a souvenirs that say you went somewhere, you didn't. I hope this museum doesn't ever go anywhere and only becomes bigger and better. High hopes EPMA!

Yelp
I stopped in after my visit to the Border Patrol museum next door. An interesting history of the archaeology and people of the area. Really cool exhibits showing exactly how the people of the area lived hundreds of years ago. Overall, between thiS and the BP museum, an enjoyable morning visit. You can do both comfortably in about three hours.

Yelp
This museum was fun to visit. My Mom and I enjoyed the exhibits. Some of the older ones could use some help. Letters have fallen off the paragraphs and some info needs to be updated with current research. But overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and it had free admission! The gift shop was nice. We purchased a couple small things like postcards. The outside is beautiful. If I visited again i'd like to do the trail on the property.

Yelp
Interesting information and exhibits in this museum. I especially liked looking at the Native American pottery and jewelry and looking at the native plants labeled outside. The dioramas exhibiting how Native Americans lived was a little boring in my opinion, but I think that those exhibits may be geared more for children. Staff was friendly and it was nice to see that the museum had quite a few visitors while we were there. We also spent some time walking some of the trails outside afterwards and taking a look at the plant life.

Yelp
Had some interesting artifacts. Was expecting a little more from the nature trail. But overall it was a nice little museum. Picked up a bar of soaps from the store.

Yelp
Interesting exhibits. But there small amounts of content. We only spent 30 minutes looking at everything. Still a great place to check out el page's archeological history.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice change of pace, good local exhibits and laid back atmosphere so you can spend as much time as you want at each section

Yelp
The inside of museum is educational. Outside of the museum is a wealth more of findings. Structures such as the Indian Garden, plants used even now medicinally, cactus and shrubs native to our El Paso, all labeled in both English and Spanish. Walking outside the museum was both fun and educational. There are areas blocked off under construction.

Yelp
Not the kind of museum you expect, if you come from a large city. However, although small, it is very educational. The grounds are beautiful and best of all, it's free. Definitively a must see if you are looking to learn more about archaeological history of the El Paso area.

Yelp
My family visits MANY museums, all over New Mexico and El Paso. We've never felt so unwelcome as we did here. And it was all due to the staff member on duty: Rachel Garcia. If you have kids, DO NOT come to this museum when this woman is there. From the moment we arrived, she was barking orders and rules. She then proceeded to watch us and follow us around like a hawk the entire visit and yell at my kids for every tiny thing she didn't like, things there weren't even signs for. My kids were VERY well behaved, but she clearly resented their very existence. NOT a kid friendly museum at all.

Yelp
This was a small but we'll laid out museum. They had a lot of interesting artifacts and we loved the hiking trails outside.

Yelp
Neat lil place. It is small but it is very informative. There's models and displays how El Paso looked from the time mammoths roamed the area to now. And its free..cant beat that!

Yelp
This was a nice little museum. History of local indigenous people and their culture. Many historic items and relics to look through. They have a little are at the entrance where kids can walk through an old home and put hands on early tools and crafts.

Yelp
Versatile collections of archeology that specifies in different time periods, which is something I liked a lot.
