Google
Cool museum on El Paso history. The Heights section was interesting and highlights racial tensions that exist in the area. The escaramuza exhibit was wonderful.

Google
A wonderful museum that is a donation only entry (you don’t have to donate if that’s an issue). I learned so much and am so happy we finally went!

Entrance is free. No food or drinks are allowed inside the building. Is a nice place to take your family. It has a lot of history. Staff in is very nice In friendly. The places very clean. They need a better display of souvenirs and better price on them. They have to be something commemorative of the museum, above all, and have the name of the museum.

Google
Quite a nice museum, and it's free (donations are accepted)! Currently they have several displays: Musica sin Frontera, showcasing local musical talent from the early 1900's to current. The Bobby Fuller exhibit was awesome. Also on display is a Korean War exhibi t, indigenous peoples exhibit, a nd a local history exhibit. All very interesting! Highly recommended.

Google
A free (donation optional) museum focused on the local history of El Paso. They've done a great job with a minimal amount of exhibit space. Lots of really good, historical photos and other displays.

Google
A lot of interesting things about T or C and surrounding areas. Rich history is displayed and kept for future generations to see and hold. Geronimo history was interesting as well. Nice small museum.

Google
Nicely laid out museum with a variety of exhibits, including the history of peoples from the El Paso region, local music history, and a rotating exhibit. Admission is free, but be sure to leave a donation. We found parking directly across the street on a surface lot for $13.00.

Google
Very nice and *free* history museum. A three dollar donation is requested and is well worth it. There's a very good history of the El Paso area from ancient times to today. An excellent exhibit of Chicanos in El Paso brings to light their plight. In the rotating space there is a display of photos taken at sunrise and sunset from the area. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Solid museum for what's history, behavior, and culture if El Pasana from yesterday to today. We were in the area for Día de los Muertos festival, and the MofH was doing its part. It had plenty of events going on from music, interactive story telling, hands on activities, to spiritual cleansings, or limpias. One of the cooler temporary exhibits Musica sin Fronteras. The exhibits showcases the groups, genres, bands, studios and venues that have called the borderland their home, and the impact they had on the El Paso and if their day. It was pretty cool to see items from the past and reflect on the impact they had on me. Who would have imagine bed that the contributions they had on the Frontera, and the Frontera had on them were so plentiful. The kids found plenty to do and see as much of the museum is interactive. If the rotation of exhibits is regular, then so shall our visits to the museum.

Yelp
Great for a lazy Saturday if you want to get out of the house and take in some local history. The staff is friendly and willing to explain some of the exhibits to you.

Yelp
This is a must see if you are in El Paso and have time. This museum is free but also accepts donations. They are very inclusive and you get to learn so much about Texas and Mexico and the history of the native Americans and how it shaped that part of the country. It is a very very informative and interesting stop. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
For a small town, with rich history, this museum is highly recommended. There are several exhibits on both the first and second floors that span the full history of El Paso, neighboring Mexico, African Americans in El Paso, high fashion and local High Schools. My daughter (5th grade) and I spent about an hour and a half here, leisurely taking in each installation.

Yelp
A wonderful museum to spend time in and to get to the know the city of El Paso. Lots of unique pieces and installations. The city is so rich in history and culture. If you're in town make sure to put this on your list. And I love how it's next door to the art museum so you can really make a day of it.

Yelp
This place was amazing! I really enjoyed my visit. I did a search for things to do in El Paso and the museum of history was listed. The museum gives a great overview of the early times, developments, people who lived there and made an impact. I was really impressed with the "Still We Rise" section. Full of great information of the first African Americans that lived there (enslaved & free), the history and culture. There was a section of Fort Bliss (my friend was stationed there when he was in the military).

Yelp
Amazing trip with my family, would recommend, staff were amazing. Keep up the good work, would come again.

Yelp
There is a lot to see in this museum. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of other musuems I have been to but this one covers a lot on the history of El Paso. From the baseball facts as well as the histroy of the star on the Franklin mountains, there is so many things to know about the history of El Paso. Signs are next to most of the historical artifacts so you can read up on the significance of the item. Take your time and check out the contents of the museum and then walk to N. Oregon street whichnis a block away or the surrounding areas for lunch or dinner. There are two floors in the museum and you can take the elevator or stairs. No eating or drinking is allowed. Also there is no entrance fee to but donations are accepted.

Yelp
Very nice donation based historical museum, full of history about El Paso. Clean bathrooms and air conditioning

Yelp
While visiting El Paso last week, my husband and I visited a few of the downtown museums, including the El Paso Museum of History. The museum is definitely small, but I liked the small exhibit on El Paso history. (The museum also had exhibits on pottery and the economy that were much less interesting.) But the museum is free - so it's definitely worth a walk in to see the permanent exhibit on El Paso history and whatever temporary exhibits are at the museum at the time.

Yelp
Worth your time! If you are visiting El Paso go check out this free museum that has some great history about El Paso. Outside there is a huge touch screen called a digie wall where you can take a picture and send anyone an electronic postcard. What is cool is exploring all the pictures people have downloaded into the digie wall and all the articles and places you can learn about throughout the city. If you live in El Paso check out their upcoming events, changing exhibits, and some really cool instagram worthy pics. Just recently went for free yoga. It was a lot of fun and a great reason to get there early and check out the exhibits. A modern new facility very clean. Street parking with meters is available near by. El Paso has a rich history and I can't wait for the upcoming exhibits and to learn more about our wonderful city

Yelp
This is a pretty unique museum in El Paso. El Paso is a unique place in itself. This is one of the smaller museums in town but I still enjoy it. I like to learn about the city's culture and past. They have a neat digital photo wall outside. You can submit photos to it via their web site. How cool is that? I like that the museum offers free events to the community often. I was able to attend the Lunar New Year celebration. A fellow elite, Desiree N. participated in the fashion show. Since she invited me to come, I wanted to be supportive. The celebration was a nice, family oriented event. Lots of arts and crafts were offered, along with entertainment. The Chinese New Year is a huge and special celebration. In China, it's celebrated more than Christmas and New Years Day combined! Although we're thousands of miles away from China, I'm glad the community was able to take part in it. The year 2020 is the year of the rat. My favorite part of the tradition is that rather than receiving a gift, people, especially children receive lucky money in red envelopes/pockets. It's supposed to help transfer good fortune from elders to kids. There's lots of other fascinating details that go along with the Lunar New Year. I learned some info. on chinesenewyear.net Go check out the museum if you're in the downtown area, especially when they offer a special event. You can't beat free! :)

Yelp
The El Paso Museum of History is one of my absolute fave museums and it doesn't hurt that it's free to the public. This museum along with a few other that are also downtown are always a pleasant surprise for anyone that is an El Paso naysayer and a favorite for those of us who know what's available to us (whatever you like to do in other cities, you can find it here). This is a smartly designed museum that has an amazing curator because the flow is impeccable. I've been a few times in the last few years and there's always new exhibits. My favorite is actually the Changing Pass exhibit that is always at the museum because it really documents EP's history pretty dang thoroughly. They also have group tours available which is awesome because sometimes you just want someone else to paint the picture for you, although the blurbs next to each exhibit are in depth. I've been to museums where you kind of wonder what you're looking at or how it's connected to the exhibits surrounding it so I love that this museum rivals any of the great history museums you may have been to. One of the coolest things about EPMH is what's in store in the near future. The 3-D Digital Wall and I'll definitely be updating my review when it's all said and done. It's going to be an interactive digital wall that you can touch to see info on certain things that have to do with EP's history. It's going to be outside of the museum, but covered which is awesome and so it will always be open to the public (from what I understand). The only other Digital Wall is in Copenhagen so major points to EPMH for bringing such a cool concept to the U.S.

Yelp
Wow El Paso History Museum does Lunar New Year right! It's all free! -face painting -tons (like 10 tables) of different arts and crafts and freebies -free books -fan dancers -dragon dancers -food room (for celebration) -chinese calligraphy -lantern making -God of Fortune made an appearance and gave out red envelopes I highly recommend you attend this event once if you're in town. It's culturally very accurate and respectful and interactive. I'm very impressed.

Yelp
I loved this museum. It didn't have a huge amount of artefacts but what it did have was quite special. It joined up a lot of metaphorical dots for me. The staff very helpful especially the security guard on the day. I also enjoyed the artwor.

Yelp
Throughout my life I have visited the El Paso Museum of History several times with my family and friends. I also tend to take groups visiting from around the country that come to learn about the Border and Immigration Issues. The groups love the museum not because of its design but because of the amount of history they have for El Paso. If you are from around here or just visiting I highly recommend checking out the museum. The updated A to Z exhibit is a great opportunity to explore the collection the museum currently has. This is located on the bottom floor along with another exhibit honoring the Women's Club of El Paso. I had no idea about the history of this club and it was nice to learn. The upstairs exhibits house the Changing Pass exhibit that includes the history of El Paso and another exhibit showcasing the Segundo Barrio. I love this exhibit because it has a lot of personal stories from people who loved in the Segundo Barrio. There are also quite a few interactive displays... I admit I didn't really build any buildings with blocks or anything but my nephew sure did and he loved it. There are group tours available, however, I have never experienced the group tour myself. I hope someone does take it on because I think it would be a great experience to learn more from the staff. The staff is really kind, friendly, and informative. There is one new addition to the museum that I absolutely love and the reason I bring my groups. The Digie Wall, a 3-D Digital Wall that houses over 12 thousand images and videos that showcase the history of the borderland. The digital wall is interactive and can be used with just the touch of your finger. You can search for historic images going back centuries, or you can even look at images that have been posted recently. That's another benefit of the Digie Wall, if you are a fellow El Pasoan or a tourist you have the opportunity to upload your photos in El Paso to the wall for others to see at digie.org also remember the unique amazing fact about this wall is it is the only one in the United States. The other wall is located internationally in Copenhagen. The Digie Wall is the first thing you will see when you visit the museum. Now I say come for the wall and stay for the exhibits.

Yelp
This place is rich in El Paso culture and you can't help but love it and it's two stories! It's a nice place to go if you're roaming around downtown and you might actually learn a thing or two. They are always always always having community events and since it's now summer, they offer yoga the first and last Thursday of the coming months. The teacher is so sweet and the class is very relaxing. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
My family loves museums. We visit them in every city we are in. Visiting the El Paso Museum of History was very disappointing, it was like a visit to museums of the 70's or 80's. The El Paso Fire Department exhibit was nice, but there were pictures on the wall without any explanation of what or who they were about. The Gone With the Wind exhibit was very sad. There were displays that had nothing to do with the movie. There was some interesting letters and documents, but the display of "costumes of the period" was very lame. Since this display was in coordination of the Plaza Classic Film Festival, why didn't they have tickets for sale for the showing of the movie? Does the city know nothing about cross promotion? The second floor of the museum was pitiful. With a city and territory so rich with history, it is presented so poorly. I was dying to learn more about the history of El Paso. I did learn a little, but it could have been presented so much better. I am sure there are people who disagree with me, but have you been to a museum that is technologically up-to-date? El Paso MOH is not. It was nice that the museum was free. If I would have paid, I would have asked for my money back. Even the Digital Wall is disappointing as nobody is checking for duplication of posts by the public or spelling. The concept is great, the execution spells "El Paso". Just go over and look at the San Jacinto Plaza construction, which has been in construction for two years. It appears NOTHING gets finished in El Paso on time, i.e. the Country Club improvements. The list is endless.

Yelp
Fun and informative! Free and cold on a hot day. Some interactive exhibits upstairs and the digital wall outside is super fun to play with.

Yelp
We had a nice time at this museum. We were in downtown El Paso looking for something to do in the evening and we're happily surprised to see a museum open until 9 pm on Thursday's. Admission was free which was an extra plus. There were 2 exhibits that didn't take too long to go through. We were there a little less than an hour.
google avatar

Sky Y.

Yelp
Museum is located across the street from Southwest University Park. We came to this museum after visiting the El Paso Museum of Art. Admission is free and you can browse the first and second floors at your leisure. I enjoyed looking at the exhibit and artifacts chronicling the history and events that shaped El Paso on the second floor.

Yelp
Museum is small but nice. My family really enjoyed visiting while we were on vacation.

Yelp
They go and do this whole "Tour the Alphabet" thing which was KINDA cool but also KINDA boring. Cool bc they give some interesting info about El Paso but kinda boring bc some of the letters did not even correlate with anything related to El Paso. Upstairs was certainly the high point since it offered more of a collective history of the city. The first floor takes almost an hour bc of the reading so when you get upstairs you are almost already over it. Talked to one of the workers about history of El Paso and was SUPER HELPFUL. Thank you gentleman for being so helpful and educating me further on not only Texas history but also Mexico and US history.

Yelp
Very interesting exhibits and lots hands on kind of things that you can explore. You can build a city block, look at artifacts and bones. Definetly worth checking out and they're open late!

Meghan K.

Yelp
An excellent museum. Lots of great exhibits and descriptions. Ralph, the man at the front, was very helpful, friendly, and took time to point out how the display wall (located outside the museum) worked. It's very cool, and only two of them exist in the world! How awesome is that?!

Brenda B.

Yelp
Very nice museum. Staff was friendly. Cost -- free so well worth any time you have to spend there.

Yelp
Nice small museum. Had a cool interactive video screen (huge) outside that was interactive. Had an antique fire engine, Vietnam section, local history section.
