We visited Tunis for 2 nights, after spending 2 weeks in Morocco. There were frequent comparisons with our previous country, and we found that we preferred our Tunisia meals to our Moroccan – and that is high praise, because our meals in Morocco were good. Tunisian cooking had more heat, more spice. The city of Tunis was gritty, but it featured French architectural surprises, WWII history and a multitude of Mosques. The medina by day was a burst of color and scent, but not a good option for nighttime walking. Our accommodation at El Patio Courtyard House Tunis was excellent. The suite was comfortable and well-appointed, with air conditioning that worked well. It was peaceful and cozy inside El Patio, although there is no getting away from a call-to-prayer when it booms throughout the stone streets. The homemade breakfasts at El Patio were delicious. Our host Ahmed worked hard to make sure we had what we needed, including a driver to take us on a personal tour of Carthage. Mr. Adel took us to all the important points in this ancient city.

Ahmed at reception and the lady (whose name I never got because she doesn’t speak English) were both fantastic at their jobs. The best things about the dar were the aesthetics of the decorations, the breakfast and the smell of the freshly laundered towels and bedding. Thank you so much for making my stay so comfortable.

This Dar is located right in the heart of the medina. It is a beautifully decorated house with kings and accomodating staff. We had breakfast every morning and the lovely chef made fresh juice everyday, a yoghurt and fresh fruit pot and a dish with eggs and other vegetables. The breakfast was different every day and every day it was more delicious than the last. We were so sad to leave and hope to return again to this home!

Tucked away in the medina so not easy to find but a lovely clean interior, good bed, great rooms. Solid shower with good hot water. A little noisy at night, but to be expected just pop in some earplugs. Very close to the huddle and bustle of the main medina. |Great host, super helpful.

This is for sure one of the most beautiful hotel/hostel/whatever I have ever stayed. I really enjoyed all decorations and atmosphere of this dar. Everyone was also really friendly and helpful, giving me recommendations for my stay at Tunis: restaurants, sights, transport etc. Also best breakfast what I had during my couple weeks at Tunisia. The location is at the middle of the old town, nice area. I was there at December which was bit chilly. Heating is not on during day but heater quickly warmed up the room, so sleeping there was fine. I also appreciated a kettle, tea/coffee and little sweet treats in my room. ||I can recommend this hotel. Thank you!

The most beautiful riad I've ever stayed. I rarely leave reviews but I wanted to make sure this riad gets the credit it deserves. Ahmed and the team are so kind, thoughtful, helpful and generous. They made us feel at home: upgraded us before we arrived to the nicest room, helped us booking reservations (as our Tunisian SIMs wouldn't let us call,) had thought of the smallest details like sweets and water in the room, and bought us a little souvenir. The decor and hand-painted doors are stunning and the breakfast is delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough. Location is great and we hope to be back very soon

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved staying at Dar El Patio. The whole experience was so dreamy!! 💖 1. Impeccable decors, every object and furniture displayed at this dar is carefully picked and beautiful. Lots of plants so I felt air quality was so good. 2. The location was PERFECT. It could not get any better. Probably best in the medina. I loved the street where the dar El Patio was. You can nip out and quickly get to the entrance of the souk. It's not too touristy, but close enough to where you want to be in the Medina. Al-Zaytuna Mosque is a few mins walk too. 3. The room was spacious and clean. Decor is so charming. And well equipped. We had a kettle and filtered water which was very handy. We had a clean towel everyday. We loved the mattress it was very comfortable and super quiet too so we slept so well every night. 4. Breakfast, and the lady who makes breakfast she was super kind, lovely, polite, sweetest. We loved and enjoyed her magical breakfast so much. 5. Ahmed, a host Ahmed. He is a wonderful person we felt so at home and had a comfortable stay at Dar because of him. He makes sure to take 5 mins every morning to come to our table to chat to us, making sure if we are doing ok, what our plans are, and chit chat too. I think it's important for hosts to have friendly conversations with guests everyday and Ahmed is a superb host. He was kind, chatty, curious, and very helpful. He also kindly taught us how to make Ojja (Tunisian national dish) our fun cooking class was chery on the cake. 😊 Thank you so much Ahmed for making our stay even more special and enjoyable🥹✨ We would definitely love to come back and stay at El Patio again! 🙏🏻

Super cute place with lots of lovely details as per the pictures and very nice staff. Located right in the Medina which is nice during the day but at night completely dead and might feel a bit tricky to find a restaurant - we went to Dar Essefa 5 min away - was nice even if we were on our own;)
