I am a hotel reviewer who has stayed at thousands of hotels around the world, so when I say El Perdido blew me away, I truly mean it. I’m not easy to impress to this degree but wow.
This hotel feels like a mini Four Seasons - but far more intimate, with just seven villas, and surprisingly more affordable. From the moment you arrive, you find surprises everywhere: from the DIY guacamole in your room to the nighttime fire pit with marshmallows to roast - your day is filled with whimsical experiences.
I have genuinely never seen desert landscaping this lush, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. The cacti, winding paths, trees, and flowers create a living ecosystem that attracts an incredible variety of birds. Watching them each morning from my outdoor bathtub felt like a private Nat Geo episode unfolding in real time.
The pool is perfection. It sparkles, and the temperature is exactly right - not too cold, not too warm - which meant I could move in and out of the water all day without ever wanting to leave.
The villas themselves are architecturally stunning and designed as a series of micro-environments. Each space feels intentional and immersive, whether it’s the living room, the outdoor patio with a telescope, or yes, the bathtub again. I really loved the bathtub.
What truly blew me away, though, was the sunset watchtower with 360 views. And below?! A huge jacuzzi grotto unlike anything I have ever experienced. You can actually free dive into a 10-foot plunge cave in the center. It was a totally-included spa experience, no extra charge. Love that.
The cherry on top is their new Coyote restaurant. The indigenous-inspired dishes were so good I would happily eat there every single day of the week.
El Perdido has officially secured a spot in my top 10 hotels in Mexico. Between the design, the landscape, the food, and the sense of peaceful luxury, it offers something incredibly rare - a place that feels both deeply grounding and truly special. I cannot wait to return.
