This is solid , high quality food. Just had their quesadilla and it's nothing like the typical . Had the beef, chicken, and Al pastor tacos. All delicious. This is better than 90% of the taco places you'll go to. So stop over and try it

Google
This place is very lowkey but has some of the best Mexican food I've had not only in Connecticut but from NY as well. The flavor is so traditional and what im used to from growing up with Mexican food that it pops out immediately as not only authentic but balanced. I had the sope with tripe (beef stomach). I never ate tripe because I never liked the texture as a child but I wanted something different and it doesn't get anymore Mexican than tripe or lengua tacos so I gave it a shot on the sope. Im glad I did. The tripe was slightly chewy but seasoned really well and went with the soft and creamy, frijoles with the slight crunch and airy-ness of the corn sope. All the toppings are standard fare with lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, sour cream and Mexican cheese which naturally fit the dish but what I found really special was what was underneath. Im not sure if they bring hot sauce by default (cause I always ask ) but if they don't ASK FOR THE HOT SAUCES! They are amazing. I didn't get the rundown on what they were made of but they have Salsa Verde, Rojo, and a creamy chipotle type. All three were great but the creamy chipotle was exceptional and was what I used for the Torta that I ordered. Torta is a Mexican sandwich that I got with Pastor (pork marinated with pineapple and other spices). The sandwich was amazing. Bread was just right and the meat nice and juicy that also blended surprisingly well with the ketchup, mustard. Before I rant some more I also want to say that the prices are incredibly reasonable. Great food, good prices. Can't beat it. I will be back for more and this will probably be my regular go to for Mexican food at this point

Very tasty. The soups are great and flavorful. The coffee is spectacular and the tortas are delicious

You can taste the Fresh ingredients! They have some the best home made hot sauces i've ever had.

Google
This place is amazing. I love their salsa trio and chipoltle camarones and I love that most people order take out, meaning I get to bring my kids there and we have the place to ourselves. It's perfect!

Google
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the staff was and completely blown away by how good the food was. To top it off, the prices are reasonable. Ask for their specials. In my second visit I had a shrimp stuffed poblano dish that was to die for and was not on the menu.

Great food, beautiful owners and love their job. This brings out the best, I enjoyed it so much and will go back whenever I'm in the area.

Google
I was out of town and tried here. The alambre was amazing. And the horchata was great too. If I'm back out in that area, I will go there again

Yelp
I love this place! It caught my eye when it first popped up, I love finding hidden gems like this. Authentic Mexican food at a great price. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Yelp
THE FOOD IS TRULY DELICIOUS! But twice in the span of a month the restaurant has left me & my family hanging via Grubhub. In the first instance, they accepted and confirmed the order by email and text -- only to cancel it almost a half hour later (went home early for the night?). Today, the order was accepted and a 'meal being prepared' email with a pickup time was sent, but when I went to pickup, they were completely closed. Sign said closed Tues, but today is a Weds. Maybe new business hours? I love supporting great local businesses -- but you *cannot* accept orders then not fulfill them. This was seemingly the restaurant's fault both times (not Grubhub's), hence my 2 star rating.

Been here a few times food is delicious and prepared to you. Love the guacamole and chips. Chicken wings hit the spot the free chips and sauces are good. Had the chicken chimichanga with rice and salad and beans and for dessert we had the empanadas so delicious. Great service and great prices Will definately be back Came tonight yummmmmm

Yelp
I had a tacos de tripa and they came out good, nice and crispy but not too dry, and the chorizó was also good, tasted like homemade, I recommend the tacos here.

Yelp
Went out last night to try something new and since we always pass by when we commute, we finally decided to stop and get a bite here. First off, the atmosphere was relaxed and had great ambiance. I got the huevos rancheros with chorizo, my husband got a chorizo burrito, my kids got beef tacos and a quesadilla with fries. Saying we enjoyed all our meals was an understatement. We absolutely loved it! My daughter is a picky eater and could live off of pepperoni pizza if she had to but last night she actually ate what was put in front of her. Everything is made in house and I could tell because the Chorizo had so much more flavor compared to store bought. The churros were amazing, crispy and soft filled with dolce de leche, we basically inhaled it. The owner was really nice and accommodating which is hard to come by. I will most definitely return and look forward to it.

Yelp
EXTRA $1.44 if you use a card to pay. MADNESS Food quality constantly a variable. Have eaten there dozens of times and today was informed ABOUT THE $1.44 extra charge to use a credit card. It is absurd. The only reason I was even told was because I was about to pay cash and realized I didn't have enough and he was like oh hold on, pushed some buttons bam price went up, why is that I say! Well cards are hysterica an extra $1.44 but we won't tell you that. This place was always ok, but not informing people of this charge up front is straight criminal. Doggish indeed.

Yelp
I would have to say...its just okay. I ordered the Steak Burrito and I have to be honest the flavor almost tasted like a cheeseburger trying to be a burrito. I didn't want to finish it...but I did. I don't know what sauce they added but it was definitely different than most beef burritos I ate. If only they change their flour tortillas also. It was sort of stale and doesn't help the flavor. I tried to like this place. I was craving Mexican food and coming from California it's so hard to compare. Since I live in Norwalk, CT now I thought this would be a nice recovery of Mexican food and its walking distance. I do have to appreciate the staff. They were super nice to me when I was there. So I hope in the future their recipe would change since they're very friendly people also.

Yelp
I came here last week with my boyfriend. I ordered a pork quesadilla, the guy repeated my order to me and then brought me out a BEEF TACO. When I tried to say I asked for a quesadilla he told me I had ordered the taco. The taco wasn't even all that. They also said they would bring us more chips and then never did.

Yelp
Great tasting food, large portions, clean environment, & fast service. Would recommend!!

Erika C.

Yelp
The food has the really authentic mexican taste! I order food two or three times per week and is really good... I definitely recommend this place if you want to try everything is fresh and it has a home taste.

Yelp
Food was good but not very filling, chips were stale and bland. Definitely what you would want when it comes to authentic mex food. But watch out this is the first restaurant in the USA that charges a dollar for tap water!

Yelp
Did take out and it was just ok. The guacamole was very bland and came with very few chips, the meat on the nachos was low quality. The veggie burrito was ok. There are too many other great Mexican restaurants in Norwalk to waste a 2nd trip back.

Yelp
We stopped here in our way to Boston. Great service, surprisingly high quality in all dishes, all fresh, especially fish and ceviche. Even the cream brûlée was really good and plates had a good presentation. Great prices, kid friendly, spacious, above average.

Yelp
Really not good Mexican food... practically inedible. This is coming from a New Yorker who was visiting a friend and wanted solid local food. We ordered a bit late, around 9pm and the only edible thing was the pre-frozen churros. Food was also pricey for how awful it was. I got Carne Asada - it hardly tasted like it was seasoned at all and was tougher than a shoe heel. The rice was hard... tasted like it was made the day prior and not with a proper rice cooker... like the hard rice you'd get at Taco Bell, also had no flavor. The beans were completely inedible. It looked more like a concoction of animal fat and bean fluid than actual beans, one spoonful turned me off from it. Horribly disappointed, paid maybe 3x the price of Qdoba for food that tasted far far less fresh, and well made. Also some ingredients just seemed lazy/unauthentic, like Italian Dressing on my salad and Mozzerella cheese for my nachos? Also the restaurant was a bit of a red flag, when I walked in, noticed it had zero scent of any food, even thought it was closed. Absolutely never getting local Mexican out in Norwalk again, lesson learned. I feel bad writing this because the cashier was really nice but the food was really that bad..

Yelp
Great place. I'm from Chicago and Mexican, this is the closest to the toco joints in Chicago. The prices are good. It's not a fancy place, but the food is good. That's all you need, good food. I have tried many places around the area. This one is worth checking out. I also ordered food for one of my parties. The price was good and the food was great.

Yelp
Nicely renovated, cleaned up from previous 2? scruffy Chinese take-out restaurants. Good friendly service, but the food is very mediocre and that is being generous. There are dozens of MUCH better Mexican places all over Norwalk with better value and taste. Several are just 1/2 mile south on Main St. This one is not worth a return visit.

Yelp
I love trying out new places to eat. The staff is friendly and the menu looks good. I had carne asada. The rice was tasteless and seemed left over from another day. The meat was cooked very well done, was dry and not much flavor either. The highlight were the beans. I will try it again, maybe it's just a bad day for them, but with so many great mexican places to eat around here, they need to step up their game a bit to survive

Yelp
I decided to try this place for an early take out dinner for the convenience of the location. I ordered chicken enchiladas and asked for some fish tacos. While they weren't on the menu, the made them for me. They were delicious. The fish was not batter fried but was very light and fresh. I also ordered a shrimp taco that was on the menu and this, too, was delicious. I ordered a side of chips and salsa and they gave me a very large container of salsa to go! While I was waiting for the order, I asked for a glass of water and they also brought me some chips and salsa to munch on while I waited. The service couldn't have been better. I was pleasantly surprised by this place and will go again.

Yelp
Great tacos with generous portions and home cooked flavor. The (free!) homemade chips and salsa are excellent. There's a warm, friendly, family feel here and all of the servers are really nice. I took my daughter, who doesn't deal with spicy, and she inhaled the salsa and her tacos - they customized them to her Americano palette. For me, they brought out a few nice and complex sauces that put some sweat on my forehead and a smile on my face. It's nice to find a place that cares about their food and their customers.

Yelp
This new Mexican restaurant is a tremendous addition to the area. The signature El Peron sauce is excellent, I had it draped over a lengua burrito. Definitely worth a visit due to the quality of both food and ambiance.

Yelp
4 words...sucio y mal servicio. It's almost 90 degrees outside and I thought I would cool off and try this place out at 1:30p. There was 1 table of 4 people already there sitting and waiting for food. All of the other tables were empty and dirty from previous diners. The only clean table was the back left table adjacent to the window with the sun magnifying thru it. I asked to sit at one of the other tables and would wait for it to be cleaned. The server insisted that I sit in the sun until she cleaned another table. I complied thinking it was only going to be a few minutes. She brought me a menu and asked what i wanted to drink. I ordered water. A minute later she came back with the water and asked what i wanted to eat. I said I wanted to wait to order until i moved out of the sun to another table. She said she was busy and it would be "a while" before she cleaned a table. I got up and walked out. There was only one table seated in an otherwise empty restaurant. Really absord. Adios El Peron.

Yelp
Delicious!! My husband and I ordered take-out from here and were thoroughly impressed. I had the quesadilla (ordered 2 as they are small) and my husband had the parrillada. We also had guacamole and chips... guac was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be going back soon. Try it!!

Yelp
I just ordered take-out from El Peron for the first time, and I am so glad I did! The food is absolutely delicious! I ordered guacamole, and it was made to order. It tasted very fresh, and had lime juice in it that was a wonderful contrast. For dinner, I ordered beef enchiladas, which were also delicious. Their rice and refried beans were probably the best I've ever had! If you would rather dine in, they have a few nice and very clean wood tables and chairs. I'm so happy to have El Peron around the corner! This won't be the last time I order from there.
