El Pescador Lodge & Villas

Worth the effort to get to El Pescador! It has a very warm, friendly and casual atmosphere. The staff is terrific and responsive. Our lodge rooms had all of the comforts including good mattresses and an extra blanket. The food is terrific and served family style (buffet) for dinner with everyone in the resort dining at the same time. Dietary restrictions for one of us was easily addressed. Most people would gather at the bar before dinner to share stories of their excursions that day. The incredible reef made the fishing, snorkeling and scuba dining exceptional. We had a great time!

This was our second time at El Pescador, first time was Jan’20. The lodge has an extremely warm and welcoming vibe, the whole staff creates that feeling. The food is absolutely top notch, especially the 6:30 dinners in their lovely outdoor dining room. We fished three days, two on the flats, and one day reef fishing. This part of Belize has a great and diverse fishery, with lots of bonefish (on the smaller side), and good opportunities to catch permit, tarpon and snook, depending on the weather of course. They have long tenured guides, who know the local waters, and are good instructors if you want that. The rooms and beds are very clean and comfortable, we stayed in a 3-room villa that had a kitchen, dining room and living room where we played cards after dinner. We also loved the bar, where we watched a lot of football, and played pool and darts. They have two nice pools where we could cool off after fishing. Overall a great place, would highly recommend to any fishermen/women.

El Pescador is amazing! Set on a pristine, long stretch of coastline, it offers exceptional fishing experiences, food, and service. The El Pescador family is a close-knit group of staff who were so friendly and always went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The fishing guides were also some of the most knowledgeable and experienced that my husband has ever come across. I can't wait to go back!

Fishing is probably good if the wind is not blowing. If the wind is blowing, casting is going to be challenging and fish are going to be hard to find. You might get away with bringing your family. if it's only your wife. If you bring kids, there's very little for them to do except for the pool, because there is no beach to speak of. On a brighter note, the dining staff and bar servers are wonderful, along with the food.

8 of us spent a weekend fishing at El Pescador, we stayed in one of the villas, and had a room in the main hotel. It is a top shelf lodge, with terrific staff, amazing food, clean and comfortable accommodations, and an unusually warm, welcoming and casual vibe. They have great fishing guides, we fished the flats two days, caught lots of bonefish, some tarpon, and several other species. We enjoyed watching football at their bar, and they have two nice pools where we could cool off after fishing. Would highly recommend.

I have been coming to Ambergris Caye for almost sixty years and have lived here periodically for fifty years with property interests from south to north. My wife and I have experienced many resorts on the island that have come and gone. For many years I have fished the flats, mangroves, inner reef and sport fishing that is enjoyed just outside the reef . I preface this review with my Belizean background because I believe I have a unique insight to the resorts and other outfitters here on Ambergris Caye. With that said, El Pescador has been a five star staple on the island for angling, first class accommodations and staff. It is unsurpassed for your island paradise dreams and I have traveled and sailed most of the western hemisphere's fishing havens. El Pescador is truly a world class destination resort and the new owner, John, has the lodge looking fantastic with incredible cuisine and accommodating staff. Their guides will get you on the fish!! Your non-angling friends and family members will also enjoy the amenities that now included diving. I highly and enthusiastically recommend El Pescador. Scott

From our arrival on San Pedro to our departure, everything was amazing! The staff(family)at El Pescador was friendly, professional and accommodating. We were traveling with a group of fly fishermen and women, even though we did not fish. They made sure we had everything we needed. We had a great time and highly recommend the El Pescador!

El Pescador lodge, in beautiful and friendly Ambergris Caye, Belize is certainly one of the top lodge/destinations in the world for fly fishing tarpon, permit and bonefish. The staff and guides at the lodge are professional and like “family”. My group caught a grand slam in April, plus additional tarpon and permit, and we caught 5 tarpon last week (November). I highly recommend the lodge for husband and wife teams even if one does not fish. The pool and massage treatments are terrific. They just opened a separate dive facility for scuba. Family style food offerings are terrific and delicious. The bar is cozy and fun. ***** 5 Stars!
