Casa Petate

To be honest I didn't spend much time here. I was visiting a friend so really just checked in and unpacked then left and came back late to sleep. But the staff were very friendly and everything looked very clean. The lockers weren't huge but big enough for valuables. There are no keys. They give you a wristband so if you come back late you ring a doorbell and they let you in if you have the wristband. It's in a great location, right downtown but on an alley so its a bit quieter. I didn't check out the kitchen or upstairs terrace but I'd stay here again and recommend it to friends coming here.

Really nice hostel and great staff. Perfect location. Clean. |Still there are some points to improve though:|pros(good) :|- perfect location|- incredibly good staff|- big dorms|- lockers|- common place with TV, terrace with a view|- very clean|- perfect kitchen|- each bed has a personal light and electricity plug. Almost not seen in Mexico.||cons (to be improved):|- the main point is that the place smells as restaurant. There is one next door and second one opening. Good places to eat but still...the whole day the smell of food is all around. Even in the dorms. It's too much. |- breakfast is not included, you just have a discount in the restaurant, but this raises the price by 20%|- downstairs only two bathrooms, the male one with broken lock||I love the hostel, one of the best in Mexico. Just that smell makes me wanting to eat even my shoes.|

The good: great location, very clean, cool place, staff ok. Reception desk attentive. The bad: mattresses super hard auch! Feels like you are sleeping on a board, The staff has no notion of being quite early in the morning screaming pulling tables radio etc very early. The fan on the woman's room squeaking. Is a cheap stay so one can not spect much but those bad aspects can be easily improved. If they had softer beds would be a very good place.

NO WIFI in the upstairs dorms, toilets were half cleaned only once in 4 days because I complained, the bins in there are disgusting. The upstairs kitchen is also rotten with dirty plates and a dirty cooker and the showers are not pleasant either. I have had alot better hostels in better cities in Mexico for less than the rip off price they quote, stay away if you like any kind of hygiene.

It is in a great location right down a beautiful alley about three minutes walk from the center. The staff is great and the bed was very comfortable. What more can you ask for from a Hostel? Yes, they could give you a lot of free beer but that would be greedy of me to ask so I'll just take the cool hostel.

This was the second time me and my friends stayed at El Petate and we had a great time there. The room was clean and comfortable. You can choose between a shared room or a private room, we stayed in a private room. The view from the terrace is amazing. The location is very good and the staff is super nice, they even remembered of us from our first visit. El Petate is a place where I would definitely go back, but I think is better for young travelers than couples or families.

The hostal offers 3 or 4 people exclusive rooms with 1 big bed and 1 bunk bed. ||Clean rooms, bathrooms and lobby; everyone is super friendlly and helpfull, it has a great enviorment and in the night all bars are close by. ||Location is perfect! 1 minute walking from the city center and main museums.

Its enought clean an well decoreted. Maybe the most pleasent think was de kundenes and the young-heart people.||||it is also safe place yo. You can be sure that personal will help you with maps, towels, good an big kitchen. Computers and goooooood roof garden.
