Absolutely fantastic food and experience. The ambiance is delightful, the food delicious. and the service is out of this world. 10/10 recommend !
My husband and I had our 10-month-old son with us. No tables were initially available, but they seated us at a high top to begin. As soon as they realized our baby might be getting fussy, they brought a new table outside with a high chair to accommodate us. When my son promptly knocked over my wine. It was but a moment before the glass was full again. The attentiveness was incredible.
The meal began with delicious sandwiches of meats or blood sausage (highly recommend!) A quick pot of stewed vegetables similar to ratatouille came, and our son devoured it 🤣 The dishes of the day were a stewed liver or rabbit - we tried both and were not disappointed. The meat was tender and flavorful and clearly local. When we continued ordering, we were offered an "off-menu" item to try incredible chorizo sausages in a sandwich. Everything we tasted was fantastic.
One of the most amazing parts of this night was the incredible prices for the food. I retroactively wish I would have eaten here every day. The prices are more than fair, and other restaurants are easily charging double for food with a lower quality and taste. This place is a hidden gem.
The white wine was perfect. We ended up sharing bottles with some locals passing by whom we had met the night before. The servers quickly added three chairs to our table to accommodate. As the night moved on, we found ourselves to be the last table at the restaurant. There was no pressure for us to leave; rather, the entire staff started moving chairs and tables as we watched them create a log table and dine together family style. They continued to serve us anything we wanted as we witnessed a beautiful comradery of connectedness.
The last comment I will make it about our particular server, Alecio. Both my husband and I were impacted by his energy. He seems to be the leader of the staff and mentioned he'd been there 9 years. I have run multimillion dollar companies, and this man oozes a sense of leadership and stability - somehow similar to a trained martial artist or a well-respected director of a company. He clearly embodies humility and confidence, with a vibe that brings comfort and connection. His recommendations were spot on, and his staff's admiration was imbued in their body language. Every bit of this experience was wonderful, but having Alecio almost felt like we had a personal maître d' for the night. The greatest pleasure of our 3 nights in Aguilas was our evening at Pimiento.
