I stopped at this restaurant to grab a keto friendly meal. I found it to be very dark inside and almost walked back out. However the hostess was very nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean and I decided to stay. I'm glad I did. I ordered the chicken fajitas and no tortillas. I also ask for spicy salsa and it was not a problem. Some places only offer one version. The dish was delicious and they seasoned the chicken stripe just right. Service was terrific and if I return to the area in the future, I would not hesitate to stop in for a bite.

Google
Uhhhhh-MAZING flavor and service. Had the Tampiqueno and wife had the Texas Lasagne - both were literally stunning experiences 🤩 BE WARNED - this is NOT a texmex place, and while it does have some Americanized dishes on the menu, it is authentic Mexican. Rich flavors and not spicy. Come and enjoy the deep contentment of being satisfied by the genuine Mexican dishes!!!!

Google
Not a bad lunch spot. Clean. Quiet. Decent food. Ask for the “spicy salsa”! Grilled chicken tacos are very good and filling. A little over priced for lunch and the area.

I love coming here for Papusas. They are topped with pickled cabbage and carrots and topped with a savory red sauce. They are so good. The beef enchiladas are delicious as well. The food is freshly made. Wait time is usually about 15-20 mins, but it's always worth the wait. This is a great local spot for margaritas as well.

Google
I will never come back because of the food. It was such a disappointment. I had the beef enchiladas and it didn't taste right. Rice tasted like it was under done and of the instant pack variety, no flavor. The beans didn't taste right. The server was nice and attentive but never going back bc of the food.

Google
The absolute best Mexican restaurant in the area. I have been coming here for years and the staff is always so friendly. They have the best margaritas and amazing salsa. For entrees, the cinco, fajitas or enchiladas are all delicious. The fried ice cream is a must! The price is unbeatable and the food is delicious.

Google
Delicious food. margaritas were good as well

Google
I am here waiting and waiting for more water and more salsa. The mild salsa is more like watered down tomato soup. So, service is really slow. This is a small very casual restaurant and for some reason they don’t like attending to the tables. This is the first time I’ve ever turned a Margarita back and they did not offer to fix it. Very small, no Tequila (or hardly any) and $10. Usually at mexican restaurants, the Marguerites are robust. Very disappointing! Food plates are average at best. I will not be going back. Prices are double what they should be for the caliber of cuisine.

Yelp
The food is fabulous. It's a nice, quaint little restaurant and the service is great. Plenty of parking Has great margaritas and has a good size and selection of food. Highly recommend !!

Yelp
Was visiting family and was curious about this place. I was told it use to be really good but I think maybe they changed owners or cooks. I thought it was quite pricey for what it was and the food wasn't too memorable. For roughly $50+ for two platters and 2 soft drinks didn't make too much sense to me. On the plus staff was friendly and it wasn't very busy so seating wouldn't be an issue. It's just a tight space so for a big party I wouldn't recommend it.

Yelp
i wanted some chicharrones so i googled that and this was one of the restaurants that came up. i compared it with margaritas latin grill which is nearby. i chose el pueblo bc based off pictures online it looked more appealing/appetizing. i ordered chicharrones and carna asada which came to $40...margaritas came to $30 btw...so ok pick up my order unwrap to eat and the disappointment set in. my carna asada look so bland and my rice taste like a microwave rice. then for my chicharrones i prefer them more dry these are very moist. and as for the pico they gave me its old it looks disgusting. i am so sad, i had high expectations.

Yelp
Best Mexican restaurant in the area. Very authentic. Great atmosphere and fantastic service.

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars I would. The waitress had an attitude with our large party. We ordered four margaritas and it came out after our entrees. The appetizer we got had a cheese dip and was definitely a microwaveable kind. Food lacked taste and the service didn't help the experience. To top it all off there was a 25% automatic gratuity added to our bill. Granted we understand the automatic gratuity for large parties but 25%?? My bf and I had two entrees, two horrible margaritas that took forever and was for sure a pre mix and a non edible appetizer and ended up being $96.
google avatar

Cathy B.

Yelp
Spent $50 and the food was mediocre. The shrimp taco was runny and the taco was soaked. The chips were stale. The salsa was like ketchup.

Linda N.

Yelp
Food is good especially the helado. Servers are prompt and courtous. The ambience is ok but nothing special

Christian P.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service! The food has good flavor. Recommend the chimichangas!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
An average rendition of some of our favorite things we've had at other spots in Portland. Pollo crema was a good portion size, pretty good flavor and the carne asada chimichanga was just average. The chips were fresh and salsa was very mild. The guacamole was fresh just needed a little salt. They do have margaritas to go. We are just visiting so we would probably never order from here again but it is one of our local families favorite spots.

Yelp
I love this little restaurant so much! It has been here for years and never disappoints! The owners really strive to provide an authentic experience. They are super friendly and make you feel like family. You are started with chips and salsa while you look over the menu. They have all the classic dishes but my favorite is the pork carnitas. They are slow cooked and are incredibly flavorful and tender. The beans and rice on the sides are also great. One of the best things here is the margarita menu. Their margaritas are made with top shelf tequila and are, quite frankly, amazing. My favorite is the mango margarita with the tamarind straw and the glass rimmed with tajin. Don't forget to finish off your meal with sopapillas for dessert! If you are lucky, they may even have tres leches cake!

Yelp
My family and I love this place. The food is great and enjoy the vegetarian options that aren't just loaded with cheese but lots of veggies and beans. My toddler kids also like eating here. Whenever we have friends in town we bring them here. The wait staff is so friendly and recognize us when we come in and away make us feel welcome. Looking forward to our next visit

Yelp
So we tried this place on a recommendation from someone we didn't have "recommendation" experience from, despite the 3.5 star rating. Our server was NOT the most welcoming. Not sure if it was a bad day, language barrier, or (sarcastically) my outfit. Other servers we watched seemed very friendly and engaging. Food was slow coming out. Not that this is terrible, and it wasn't just us. But don't show up, at least when fairly busy, with the thought that food service will be fast. Now the most important part - the food. We were told this was "really good" by people local to the area. I'm not sure they have had REALLY good Mexican food. We found it to be OK, not bad, but not amazing. The steak in my burrito was really tough, and my refried beans were dry and pasty. My wife liked her dinner better, but it was so salty she couldn't finish it. We wouldn't refuse to meet someone there if they suggested it, but won't likely be back on our own.

Yelp
This is one of those little family owned and run restaurants with a long list of regulars, my family and I included. Even now, after nearly a decade, we find ourselves commenting on how every dish is delicious, every single time! Hector is owner and chef and I believe his hands have been touched by an angel. Ana, his wife welcomes us warmly and she's a skilled mixologist. Daughter and son Service the tables with a smile and pride in their work. Erica is a joy and takes amazing care of the customers. And they all welcome us like family. Any of these reasons would keep bringing us back but. I promise you, I will not find a more delicious meal, at any price, anywhere.

Yelp
This place has great food and great service. Love coming here and bringing guests. Cute ambiance and very easy to pickup orders too.

Yelp
This little restaurant is so cozy, Erika waited on us very friendly ! She recommended. The seafood pasta... yummmmm!!!! Pupusas to die for!!

Yelp
I am going to attribute my low rating to the post Covid environment. I've been to el Pueblo many many times over the past 7 or 8 years and always had a great experience. This one however left a lot to be desired. Monday night 7/26/2021. A slow night and just a few tables with customers and 2 sitting at the bar. I figured it would be quick service and the usual top notch food. O well. My my daughter and I placed a drink order. i ordered a mojito - no joy because there wasn't any mint. Strike 1 I stuck with with water and my daughter asked for water and a root beer. The root beer came, but the water never did (despite asking a few times). My my daughter ordered Los Tres Enchiladas (beef, chicken, cheese). She said they were all very good (I agreed after tasting the chicken enchilada). I ordered red the fish tacos. I usually get fajitas and should have stuck with my usual but I've been on a fish tacos kick of late. They were out of the usual mango sauce (strike 2). The fish was fried chunks (menu says grilled) which was unexpected and in reality just not good (Strike 3). Had and to ask for silverware and napkins several times (but unlike the missing water they finally came). So so not good. Food not up to standard in my case and service not good either. However - as mentioned I attribute this to Covid. One server who was taking orders, bussing tables, delivering food, bring bills, ... clearly overworked even on a slow Monday night. One person behind the bar and I'm guessing just a single person in the kitchen as well as it seemed that sometimes the server and the bartender were helping put in the kitchen. While restaurant was relatively empty there was a pretty consistent take out process going on adding to the workload for the few employees. So understaffing was clearly a driver from my perspective. And not the servers fault at all. Just too much for him to do by himself. Thankfully great chips and salsa. I will I'll try again in a few weeks and hope this was a one time thing.

Yelp
Came here last night with some friends and was really disappointed :/ my wife and I used to come frequently and I can't really remember why we stopped coming by often but it'll be a while before we come back. Started with the salsa and chips. I'd call it more marina sauce than salsa... it was soooooo tomato-y if that makes sense it tasted like something I should dip mozzarella sticks in :( we had to ask a couple of times for refills on chips and water. I didn't try the quest but it looked like it came straight out of a Tostitos queso can, but my wife liked it. They did bring us a pitcher of water eventually so they didn't have to keep coming back to refill... if they had bigger cups that wouldn't be such a problem. We all ordered food and everyone's came out except mine -_- the server came over and told me she forgot to put my order in but she was going to do it right away. Cool... I was starving already but there's nothing I could have done about her forgetting my order. (In all fairness I did talk to the manager who took off 30% of my entree; but I would have even happier if I didn't have to tell the manager and the server had informed the manager she had forgotten my order). The lomo Saltado with chicken was good when it finally came out. The spices were tasty as was the rice and veggies... didn't seem like it had lots of chicken though, more onions and tomatoes than anything else :/ My wife ordered the special which was some creamy chicken thing which she said was good. Our friends weren't overly impressed with their food either... so I ended up feeling bad for recommending this place for dinner. The one good thing... the margaritas were tasty!

Yelp
El Pueblo is a hidden gem. My wife and I love this place. The fajitas are the best in the area. The staff is amazingly friendly. We feel at home whenever we go. This is the type of restaurant the community should continue to support. We'll be back...soon!

Yelp
This place was good, as far as food and service. As others have mentioned seems a bit pricey. I had the tacos al carbone and the steak was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Parking in the shopping center is also pretty plentiful as well. I liked the chips and salsa here as the salsa wasn't too spicy (which I am not a fan of the spice where my mouth is on fire). It was good but given there are plenty of options closer to home for me I don't know when I'd come back unless visiting friends/family who live out there.
google avatar

Tanya T.

Yelp
This is as close to Mexican from Mexico I could find. Not TexMex. Have the enchiladas and Chile releno.

Claire S.

Yelp
The food was just okay but they charge 8.48 per single bottle of modelo especial. This is outrageous, we had 3 each and paid almost 50 dollars for a 6 pack of beer. Anywhere else would be 5 dollars at the most. I will never come back here because of the prices of beer.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing, honest service by the friendly guy there. He can grow a beard fast fyi Haha I've had 2 things here and I loved them. I had a t bone steak and a burrito. Both were amazing and flavor was on point. The beans and rice were way above average. I usually dont eat beans but they make a well seasoned beans and rice. Both were filling but the burrito is overpriced at 15 bucks. Overall, I love trying this place and will continue to go

Yelp
Food is "ok", not great. Prices are too steep for the quality. I purchased pollo a la crema and carnitas. For the price of close to $20 per plate I would expect better quality food.
google avatar

Alaeddine B.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant. Ordered combo fajitas (steak & chicken) it was decent, not the usual fajitas I ordered, but I enjoyed it. I think it's overpriced for the amount of food you get. Cost $20! Not sure if I'll try it!!
google avatar

Elise K.

Yelp
Disappointed that their salsa wasn't spicy at all. I had their grilled chicken quesadillas but the chicken wasn't flavorful at all. Cheesecake Factory makes better quesadillas than this Mexican restaurant.

Yelp
Tamales do Pollo on point. Pupusas delicious as always. Enchiladas great as well. El Pueblo never disappoints us. Great authentic central American food. Highly recommend you get some. Thanks again El Pueblo family.

Yelp
Yum! Small family owned restaurant which tends to attract locals in the area. Prices are average for DC. They have a fully stocked bar and offer a pretty extensive drink menu. The popular drink of the night appeared to be the traditional margarita which could be seen at many of the surrounding tables. I ordered the lada mango and it was okay however, there wasn't much alcohol in the drink. It is comparable to a frozen mango daiquiri. My husband had a mudslide and he loved it. They used ice cream as opposed to just milk, chocolate and liquor. Their regular menu is gigantic also. Our party ended up ordering a variety of dishes. I had their spinach, mushroom and cheese quesadillas and my brother had their steak quesadillas. My husband rolled the dice and took a chance on their ribs. He was thoroughly impressed by the ribs and was really happy with his meal. My sister in law had a selection of various small plates which included refried beans and plantains. She liked her choices also, however the portions are really large. The plantains were really good, but lacked a glaze which sometimes accompanies plantains. My nephew had a kids meal taco. The kitchen mixed up his request for soft shell with hard shell. The only negative thing that I can say about that night was that they did not have any Tres Leche cake left. I was completely disappointed and we arrived at dinner time around seven o'clock, so I'm wondering if the kitchen ever made any at all for the day. We will likely be revisiting El Pueblo at some point in the future because my husband fell in love with their ribs and I'm still looking forward to trying their Tres Leche.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Springfield/Burke area. The restaurant is located in the shopping center at the intersection of Lee Chapel and Old Keene Mill. When you walk in you will see it is a fairly small restaurant. The last time I went to El Pueblo was for lunch on a weekday. The chips and salsa are pretty good, but not the best I've had. I ordered the lunch portion of the El Pueblo Fajitas - beef, sautéed onions, tomatoes, red and green peppers. The fajitas came with rice, beans and three tortillas. These were delicious. There was more than enough fillings for my three tortillas. I was surprised that the beef was very flavorful. The sautéed vegetables were cooked just right. The peppers were not soggy when you bite into them. The service was pretty good. For only being one of three patrons at the restaurant, there were a few times where I wish I had my water refilled on a more regular basis. However, our server came and checked on us throughout the meal. If you are looking for a great Mexican meal in the Springfield/Burke area, I highly recommend you go to El Pueblo.

Yelp
First time eating at this place and BOY are we happy we gave it a try. I'm from California and have eaten my fair share of good Mexican food but the food here is amazing. It was all so fresh and tasty that each bite was better than the one before it. My girl had the Carne Asada and I had the fish tacos. My fish tacos were the best I have ever had - seriously. They were perfectly crispy and with the refried beans, rice and savery guacamole it was just delectable. The portions were quite large so we wound up taking some home and I devoured the remainder of my food a couple hours later. No question that we will be back again. Best Mexican food we've had in the DMV area.
google avatar

Sarah J.

Yelp
We were there about a week ago, and the waitress got my order wrong TWICE and argued with me about it both times. We were only a party of 4, but they added a 20% gratuity to the bill PLUS an additional 3% to cover the credit card charge. Neither of these were mentioned to us until we inquired about it. The manager insisted that the credit card company requires that 3% charge, but it's really so they don't lose the money. Not impressed- we won't be back.
google avatar

Andres G.

Yelp
Las mejores Pupusas!!!! The best Pupusas in the area. Friendly, family owned restaurant.
google avatar

Lia M.

Yelp
Tierra and I ended up here due to a poorly planned Mu Ramen pop-up next door at H Pho. I'm actually a little surprised by the reviews of El Pueblo, because I thought the food was fairly awful. Not completely inedible, but not good enough to compel me back. The only good things were the fun decor and great service. I've had better tortilla chips that were store bought, and salsa as well. The salsa here was basically tomato sauce. Margaritas were actually OK and had some alcohol in them. My chicken chimichanga was barely fried and whole dish, including the beans and rice, was bland. Guacamole was decent. Definitely not a fan and do not recommend.

Yelp
I'm a pretty picky eater and I really enjoy the food this place serves. Unfortunately the last time we went the waitress (not sure the name) was so passively aggressive it really soured the evening for us. First off, this is our third visit in I think a 2 month span and tonight we were told that the chips were only one refill per table which was never the case in the past and nowhere in their print materials is that made mention of. So she says it's okay though I will get that for you. Bill comes and she charged us for the chips after telling us she was going to take case of it and without telling us how much it would be. Two tiny baskets of chips between four people doesn't go very far. The next issue we had was when I ordered my iced tea. Like I said, we've been here pretty frequently recently and only tonight were we charged refills on the iced tea, while our previous visit we were not. Again, nowhere in the print materials did it make mention that tea was charged per glass if this policy had changed and she also did not tell us that it would cost more, she just kept bringing them. I can't think of the last time I went to a restaurant that charged for iced tea refills, especially unsweetened iced tea (most places pour a lot of it out)! The final straw was that she slammed our dishes and plates around quite aggressively before storming off to get our check. We tried to make light of the situation in general but all it takes is a server with a bad attitude to ruin the entire experience and this one definitely did. It would have been a 5 star rating had it not been for the moody waitress, but, nevertheless if you are looking for good food, by all means eat here, but just watch out for the bill, ask if something is going to cost more because it most likely will.

Ricky C.

Yelp
absolutely awesome spot the food was amazing and service was top notch I'm for sure going back I would recommend this place 10/10

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that I am not a big fan of Mexican food, however I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been here a few times and they have yet to disappoint. It's a small restaurant with great ambience and wonderful customer service. They definitely know how to take care of their customers. They make everything there, including their salsa. Their salsa beats any of the big chain Mexican restaurants for sure. My favorite things to get there are the Carolina Margarita and the Carne a la Tampiqueña, it's smothered in a delicious chile poblano cream sauce and comes with two cheese enchiladas. Omg, it's delicious! They also have a special on the menu for a seafood enchilada, that was so tasty too! And make sure to try their tres leches cake! It's made at the restaurant and it's probably one of the best tres leches I've ever tasted :) I will definitely be coming here a lot more! Best little Mexican/Salvadorean restaurant in Fairfax county!

Yelp
We ate at this El Pueblo family-Mexican restaurant in Burke, VA after last coming here 4-years ago. During previous dining experience found food was not fully cooked and partially cold. This time, decided to try a weekend on a local "clipper" magazine coupon for 10% off, and see how things had progressed! Went on a Sunday at lunch-time and found the place had about 10 other patrons seated and overall cleanliness was very good. Got seated immediately with choice of table in the middle. Server brought out chips & ice-water to start with menu. Noticed that there was a weekend menu speciality items paper clipped to the menu, with several items, at what seemed like a very high price: $22 for Mexican steak, $17 for Lomo Saltado, and about $13-$16 for burrito/enchilada combos. Margarita menu was offered to by the server which were about $8-$10 each with lots of flavor choices. We ordered tacos Vera Cruz and the Pollo Pupusas, priced lower than the other items that would have been of lunch-time interest. Seems menu overall is high $$ for this venue. The wait was about 20 minutes for food, arrived hot; each selection with shredded lettuce, refried beans, and yellow rice in an oval 'platter' format. Pupusas were good yet slightly undercooked. The tacos were plain, with a quality that appeared store-bought shells and flavorless meat. For the money, this was overpriced in terms of quality and flavor. We would have to rate this as just "A-Ok" simply predictable, strip mall, Mexican food. Service staff was "A-Ok" slow on checking back for refills/chips; and at the end, had to go find a staff member simply to pay the bill which seemed to take multiple steps to get it. No "thanks" or "come again" from these folks - - somewhat emotionless affect.

Yelp
IGreat service, attentive staff. No complaints about anything. Solid all around. I know it's a Mexican place, but get a few IPA or local craft beers on the menu. That is the only thing you are missing.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Nothing really special about this place. Their margaritas and food are pretty run of the mill and the atmosphere/decor could definitely benefit from a basic facelift. If I had to choose between La Tolteca (a similar local Tex-Mex joint) and this place, I'd choose La Tolteca every t

Deniz E.

Yelp
Employees are not wearing masks and gloves plus there is no 6 feet rule in the store. They said the food is going to be ready in 25 minutes and I ended up waiting 3 hours, no one really helped and cared. Very poor customer service.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Decent Mexican food. Close to authentic but lacking full flavor. I would come here again. Food was close to authentic. The chili releno was quite good. Salsa is a bit bland but good if you don't like too much heat. The mole they used for the enchiladas had that preserved in a can taste. I would come here again and maybe even bring people here. I mean it was a decent place to enjoy my dinner. I liked how you weren't crammed together sitting at your table. For a local mom and pop restaurant I have to say it was worth supporting.

Yelp
I was a little surprised to see that El Pueblo served breakfast, but was very happy they did! We ordered the Miga's, the American breakfast #7 and the kids pancakes. My husband rated his #7 as a five. I liked my Miga's, but the "spicy" potatoes they came with were seasoned with Lowrey's seasoning salt. My dad overused that seasoning when I was a kid and I HATE it! My daughter didn't finished her pancakes, which has never happened. I tried them to see what was up and they were pretty plain...not that pancakes need to be amazing, but if I'm going out for breakfast I want it to taste better than I can make at home with store bought pancake mix. Considering we were one table with two other individual diners in the restaurant, I was surprised by how long it took to get our food. Our waiter never came to refill our drinks. I really enjoyed the food, but overall was not super impressed by the experience.
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place since it is so close to our house, unfortunately we won't return. It didn't start off well when the salsa looked and tasted like it came from a can. I asked for best selling margarita suggestions, and was only told it depends on what type of tequila you want with no additional info. Wow, that was a first. Then the food came out and it was just ok. The food at a chain restaurant like Chuy's is much better. We lived in San Antonio for several years, so we're always looking for local Mexican restaurants hoping to find something similar to authentic Tex-Mex. Unfortunately this was not the place. I gave it two stars because at least I liked the jalapeño margarita that I decided to try on my own since I didn't get any recommendations.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant in NoVa Great family owned restaurant. Excellent food. I go weekly for years and the quality is always great. They will customize your order without compliant. Favorite are the carnitas or the rainbow trout.

Chuck M.

Yelp
I am not one that often writes reviews of restaurants but El Pueblo has impressed me enough to write a review. The restaurant has about 60ish seats so if you are going there on a weekend it's possible that you may have to wait a little while for a table. However the wait is defiantly worth it! The food and service are both amazing. Wether you are going in for dinner or having a drink at he bar and taking food home the service is only topped by the quality of food. I have tried close to half of the menu and trust me if you like steak, anything that has the carne asada is always amazing!
google avatar

Marie O.

Yelp
We love this place! Our family had been eating here for many years and the staff treat us like family. By now we tried many options in the menu and is always fresh and delicious. El Pueblo is out "go to place" every time we want to celebrate with friends or family special occasions. I enjoy my Margaritas on the rock with salt very much :)
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
One of the jewels of Burke. Very friendly staff that is quick and attentive. The food itself is very good. Beef tacos with rice and refried beans is my favorite meal here. The enchilada is delicious as well. All meals come with a good portion of rice and beans. The place is always busy but never understaffed or slow. The staff cares about its patrons and it shows. Highly recommended!

Dave H.

Yelp
A true "family" restaurant where you automatically feel as if you have known the owners and staff for years. Now to the good part...the food, service and presentation...exceed expectations....Seafood w/linguini...best kept secret in Burke....Skirt steak unbelievably tender...everything was great...check out the bar. The margaritas with passion fruit will make you think you are on a sunny beach in Cancun or "grabbing some rays" on some other delightful tropical beach paradise. Their bar also has a modest but adequate wine selection for a small restaurant, but an even surprisingly greater selection of top shelf brands. Go for the warmth, great food, and charm of dining out locally.

Yelp
I'm bias, being local and I the industry but I'm a fan of this little spot and their keen decor

Yelp
Bounced between 3 & 4 stars. The service was very good & got it to the 4. I agree with others, it would be better to have smaller plates that were less expensive. I got the $12 burrito & had enough for an extra lunch. Food was good Mexican food - solid 3 "A-OK". Came out quickly, prepared well, hot. We'll be back
