Stopped by El Punto on Whitaker Ave this evening with my wife and we’re glad we did. The food was super fresh, and the sandwiches were loaded with plenty of meat — no skimping here. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was so good that I ended up buying two more to take home for our sons. My wife tried the shrimp wrap and she couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. Great flavor, generous portions, and friendly service. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Google
Well I ordered a pastrami sandwich wich I always like to have i different places the sandwich was ok I don't like the breat toasted they didn't ask also the Pastrami was chopped and it was not spread out evenly but it was ok, I always had pastrami made in vapor pickles and mustard. It was a little expensive also for just the sandwich.

Google
All manteca no meat, better off going to Hot Spot in Camden

Google
I've been buying the fish sandwich for years. And today, to my surprise, they didn't make the sandwich I went to get for years. It was half mayonnaise bread and the other half a slice of expensive fish. The price was $10.00. For my part, if they don't change their method of making it like before, I won't go back. They're definitely a different owner. Because, my God, what an expensive one.

Google
I got the steak sandwich with cheese. I'm not exactly sure what else was on my cheesesteak. Between masks, plexiglass, and accents I had no idea what the young woman was asking me so I was nodding my head ‘yes’ to everything. I really liked the roll. I don't know if you call it a Cuban roll but it's the fat version of a hoagie roll. It was nicely toasted. The meat was okay. I would have liked more meat. The sauces were very tasty without being overly hot. The sauce really made the sandwich. The lettuce and tomato were nice and fresh.

Google
After many year without coming here(5+ years)I wanted to try their sandwiches, again, I order a pastrami and a Cuban. The pork on the Cuban was a little dry, my pastrami was OK. But very pricey. I don't mind paying if is REALLY good, but for average food paying too much?? I don't think so.

Google
Food taste like eggs and my sandwich had no eggs . I didn’t like it . Very dry . Donuts are hard almost as if they were old

Google
Sandwich needs more meat. I used to be a regular years ago. Never had this problem maybe different cook. Still good but stingy with meat.

Yelp
I love this place empanadas for $2 bucks that is heaven for me. I have been here 4 times in the last 3 weeks. I also have asked about a weeks worth of food for meal prepping. I was happy with the price. One meal here is about $12-$14 bucks depending on what meat you get. With appetizers around 2-4 bucks. The service was fast and easy. I called ahead for an 20 empanada order and everything was ready to go in the time that was stated and was amazing. I would say my only issue is the meat portion size is a little small for the amount of rice that is given. No pictures I just never think about it when i buy food or order. Even if I am gonna write a review. Will add next time I order. The place is small but enough tables (5-6) to site about 2 or 3 people at each.

Yelp
Just came back from PR and so far this is the closest to the panaderia but it's more like deli than a coffee shop/bakery. I really like their bfast sandwiches. Just wished they use sobao bread! Very nice staff and manager

Tyla F.

Yelp
I literally order at 7:12 and was told my food would be done in 15 minutes. All the Hispanics got served their food before me and came in after me. Didnt get my one little sandwich until 7:46. the foods good but don't be anything no other than hispanic or you'll be waiting

elena m.

Yelp
It was good food great service very kind people although I think they should do delivery because they would make more money that way and also people who can't walk up there or drive they can get it still and can definitely enjoy their beautiful amazing food

Yelp
Misheard my order that I repeated twice through the thick plexiglass, smiled condescendingly and blamed the mistake on me. "No mayo" is not a thing that I will ever forget to say. Sometimes I say it to myself just walking down the street. Twice the wait for hungry kids. If it were a great cubano I wouldn't have been as disgruntled. But it was not a great cubano, nor a great pernil. The jugos pina was good.

Yelp
Great big delicious sandwich with big size steaks and eggs. Nice and crispy! Sell very good tasty orange drink as well I love this place! I prefer the afternoon service versus the night service.

Yelp
Got 3 different types of sandwiche, the meat was dry no flavor, I asked for cheese and mayo barely had any cheese or mayo the meat tasted like dirty burnt grill. the drinks were not good either. spent 85 dollars deff not worth it at all. I love se to get their sandwiches back in the day but they are not what they use to be. so disappointed not worth the money or time.

Yelp
Fresh fresh fresh sandwiches! Yummy! It's a small place but the Chefs can whip up a great and delicious sandwich/s!!
google avatar

Luan P.

Yelp
A pretty laid back/local joint. You can feel a bit out of place the first time here since everyone seems to know each other and the menu inside out. None of this really matters however since the amazing aroma of the food will overtake all your senses. The menu has pictures as well as English descriptions so it's great for Spanish-illiterates like myself. I opted for the Cuban sandwich since I've never had an authentic one and it's the one people seem to be getting here. I also had a mango juice but the mango was a bit too sweet. The food does take awhile to come out. My Cubano was huge! My cashier asked I I wanted everything on it and I didn't know any better so I said "yes". I wish I had opted for no lettuce as it made the sandwich very American and soggy. Aside from that though, the sandwich was delicious, the three meat had different textures yet combined in a surprisingly harmonious flavor profile. The pork does taste porky though, not by much but you can tell you were eating pork. Overall, it was a cheap and delicious joint, I will be back to try their other items.

Luichy C.

Yelp
Batidas de muy baja calidad. Los productos que usan parecen estar dańado.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday haven't been here in over year but only because I live the suburbs. This place is so damn good. I love pork so I had the Pernil sandwich with everything. I ordered French fries made to order also nice hot an fresh. They had my favorite cake Tres Leche so I was a happy girl. So don't sleep on this place it is so good. You can eat in or take out either way you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have been looking for a place that makes decent Cuban sandwiches, in my proximity. I have gone to so many restaurants and cafes in the area and none of them have come close to an authentic Cubano. My husband said there is a little spot called El Punto in north Philly and they have all types of Latin American sandwiches. So I decided we should go because I really had a craving for a cubano. We arrived it was in the middle of the "rough around edges" part of Philly but Im ok with that..I will go anywhere as long as there will be good food. OH MAN... I am so glad I did go.. It is nothing fancy...so be prepared if you ever decide to go. The menu is has a lot of variety of sandwiches and freshly squeezed juices. So I ordered a Cuban and boy I was not disappointed!! There pernil was fresh and so flavorful. And they were generous with the meats in the sandwich. I have found my new spot to eat fresh hot sandwiches, especially the Cuban!
google avatar

Diana R.

Yelp
My oh my! These sandwiches are to die for! My favs are the pastrami and Cuban sandwiches. They are juicy and bursting with flavor. The wait time is a bit slow but definitely worth it. I like to believe that it takes a bit hence it's fresh lol. Do not let the look of the place fool you and go on in

Felix C.

Yelp
Worst Pastrami sandwich, bread was burned, lack of meat, service was not good and stiff prices on a can of soda $1.75, a joke. Sorry guys... Take a trip to PR and visit a sandwich trucks and improve your house.
google avatar

Nick Y.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem nestled in a rough part of the city but it won't stop my white ass from going in there for what I think are the finest, tastiest sandwiches in the city, even over our beloved cheesesteaks! They use amoroso rolls, flattened and toasted so you get great texture between the bread and meat in each bite. Make the effort to stop in here, you won't be disappointed. Clean place and friendly service as well!
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
The best sandwiches are served here. You could go any time of day, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They don't have much seating so I usually take my sandwiches to go. You could listen to music or watch music videos while you wait. I love their "Tripleta" which is a sandwich with Pork, ham and turkey. It's awesome. If you're in the area, definitely stop here for a quick lunch. They also sell desserts.
google avatar

Ms. Critic T.

Yelp
Probably the worst turkey and cheese sandwich I have ever had in my life! There were so many black things on my sandwich I don't know what was what. Not at all impressed. Would never go back or recommend. Eat at your own risk. -Lady Truth I will tell
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
I've been to this place several times. All were after 10pm. It's so great to have such great food available for late nights! The sandwiches are damn good. I don't even know what all the ingredients are but the juicy chicken and crusty warm rolls are enough to awaken your taste buds. Whatever else they're doing is working. Ditch the usual wawa or pizza run and give this place a try. You will not regret it!
google avatar

Cosmiclady L.

Yelp
I ordered the Cubano and I thought it was quite good. A little different than the ones I usually have in Florida. I enjoyed it a lot. Would have given it four stars if I didn't have to swat flies the whole time I was eating. I'm sure I'll be back however when I get my next craving for a Cubano
google avatar

Katty P.

Yelp
Great Cubano Sandwiches made by Dominicanos de pura sepa! Best sandwiches in Philadelphia, there fruit shakes are not bad either. This is a great place to grab a sandwich, they only have three small tables and a small counter area. They make their sandwiches to order and they are delish!
google avatar

Carlos A.

Yelp
Best sandwich place ever! If you want an American Sandwich (or burger) go to Red Robins. If you want a Latino Sandwich, take that a** to El Punto. -this is just about the food, not the restaurant ambiance and hygiene (few flies here and there).
google avatar

Jerry F.

Yelp
I come here once in a while to eat the sandwiches are good and so are the home made drinks It gets packed on the weekends since they stay opened late because of all the nite clubs around the area Yea you will have to wait a while for your sandwich since they start making it as soon as you order it so its best if u call in your order about 15-20min in advance so all you have to do is go un and pick up what you ordered

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Not very many Spanish restaurants that focus on sandwiches around , they have a wide variety of options , your pork , chicken and steak with a ton of different twists , I've eaten here a few times over several years but it's always been disappointing, there sandwiches have very little meat , there stuffed more with lettuce and tomatoes and whatever else you order , open very late , especially the weekend , not to far down the road is the other sandwich place which I've never tried called Casa de sandwich , just Incase you decide you want to give it a try

John S.

Yelp
Couldn't be more impressed. Coming from PR living in Miami I was a little hesitant as to how good this place could be. Came in at 1:30 in the morning and the food was delicious...las tripletas estaban por la maceta..sabía bien criolla y sinceramente que le da competencia a los chinchorros de la isla.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
My mom has been telling me about this place for a while and finally she brought me home half of her chicken sandwich... it was delicious!! I heated it up so it wasn't fresh but it was still really good! I cant wait to go here and get my own!
google avatar

Jose A.

Yelp
Best Cubano sandwich i've ever had, they put everything on and I mean everything, beans, cheese, pork, hot dog, egg, avocado, and on and on...just talking about it make me wanna go back right now!
google avatar

Barb J.

Yelp
Love the steak sandwiches. The steak is marinated perfectly and the cubanos are awesome. Been going here for years!!!
google avatar

Thuy F.

Yelp
El punto has the BEST sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I was born and raised in Philly but just found out about this place about a yr ago. Everytime I go I usually get the tripleta (never fails!). Other times, I've had the medianoche and the pernil. Good as well! They sandwiches run about $3 something, avg $5, and the shrimp ones cost about $8. It is near St Christophers hospital for children and everytime im nearby i always stop there. They tend to take a while making them, so do call ahead to have it ready for pickup. Another plus is that they close realllly late on the weekends. Downside is that all the drunks are there around 2am and its extra packed. Go during the day!!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Fantástico! Great sandwiches latinos made fresh to order. Best medianoche I've had since leaving Miami. But the standout, if there is one-since all are so good- is the steak and fired egg sandwich; marinated steak with two perfectly fried eggs (nice and yolky) on crusty bread. ¡Delicioso! Also great batidos, and dulces latinos (desserts).
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good pork sandwich that's cheap and delicious?! I've driven by El Punto many times and due to the area I have avoided it. Well don't judge a book by it's cover and hell do take out!! Lol The restaurant has a small eating area if you can't wait to get home to sink your teeth into a delicious toasted warm pork or Cubano sandwich. There is a long wait time after 8:30 pm so come early but they are also open late for those who like late night snacks. I will also mention that parking is limited, if your lucky you will find a spot right in front of the restaurant otherwise you might find parking at the beer distributor next door. El Punto is a hole in the wall but good sandwiches is what makes them shine. The prices are cheap, about $6.00 for a sandwich. Remember to come early and cash and credit are both accepted.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I read the reviews on Yelp regarding the Cuban's tasty prowess. I went there and got two but was sadly disappointed. Traditional Cubans have tender chunks of fresh roast pork, ham and Swiss with pickles. El Punto's had ham, bacon, charred shards of what I think was roast pork and something that resembled mortadella. Not what I was expecting. A disappointment.
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
Ive been here a handful of times and have always left full and happy. You cannot go worng with anything you order here. My personal favorite is the Tierra y Mar as well as the Tripleta sandwich. A sandwich avergae about $6-$8. If your really hungry I would recommend trying the Morir Sonando shake its a mix of Tang and milkshake and its to die for, their french fries are pretty good as well. They are open all night too , its the perfect place to go after a night out. The seating is limited and so isnt the parking. Dont expect to find a nice ambiance eitheir its just a place to eat , but the food is great!
google avatar

Jae B.

Yelp
Firstly, let me start by saying all their sandwiches are fantastic! However, I must say that the best time to eat here is about 2-3:30am BEST DRUNK FOOD ever. Lucky for me they are but a short walk/drive away. In addition to late night food cravings they also are best 'I'm too hungover to cook, but I'm gonna die if I don't eat" hungover snacks. The seating is limited, so people usually aren't there very long and it is usually common for people to take their food to go. The decor is alright kind of reminds me of an out of date diner disguised as a 'hip' place to be. But again very good food and a lot of locals usually get something to go. Only complaint, which is very small, is for their homemade drinks could be a little bigger. I am a 6'3" mans and that drink is just entirely too small for me.
google avatar

M. H. J.

Yelp
Not bad y'all! Nice to have a taste of home (Miami)!! Have to make this trip more often. I enjoyed my Cubano. Gotta come back.
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
Amazing, Hispanic style sandwiches. They're open late on weekends, which is so clutch when you're leaving the club and want a good bite to eat.
google avatar

Rick R.

Yelp
Pretty consistently good sandwiches but the wait is usually ridiculous. I've even left a couple times without my food because the wait was absurd. I've completely stopped going, which is a shame because I did enjoy the food.
google avatar

Natasha S.

Yelp
Had the el gordito and it was kind of dry and couldn't taste the swiss cheese. They forgot my mustard, but the bread was delicious. May try it again, one day...
google avatar

Nina R.

Yelp
El Punto is consistently good. The wait is just dumb sometimes. Their sandwiches are yummy all around though.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
I love this place!! Food is fresh, you are able to sit down and eat. My favorite part is they are open till LATE :)
google avatar

Solo H.

Yelp
I was looking for a place that makes sandwiches almost similar to Puerto Rico, and I found it! I am a personal fan of there Tripletas and my husband loves there Pastrami sandwiches. By far the best latino sandwich place yet.
google avatar

Cordell F.

Yelp
Some Puerto Rican friends took me here today, wow, I highly recommend the Shrimp, cheese, tomato, and whatever majic they put on it....The service it good, the wait was a lil long but I'm always in a hurry anyway so it was actually nice to slow down.
google avatar

Antonia S.

Yelp
There sandwich are delicious. I remember when they first start.the place it's nice and clean.great music . Good customer service. The price for the sandwich it's worth it.
google avatar

Enrique O.

Yelp
I don't like this place.. They have huge roaches the size of water bugs and at times not to clean..
google avatar

Catherine G.

Yelp
this place have the best cuban sandwiches ever. i live in newyork and i just go visit my sister so often just to get a chance and go to this place. its freaking awsome!
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
How can you beat it? Great latin sandwich shop with all of the classics. It's a small shop, you don't go for the ambience. There's probably 12 or so stools to sit at, and 3 or 4 tables. we went around 1130 and there was plenty of seating. The entire menu consists of sandwiches, some sides and juices. My buddy and I both opted for the cubano, a pressed cuban sandwich the right way: Ham, roasted pork, pickles, mayo and swiss cheese on cuban bread. It was literally the perfect sandwich, and was $5.25!!! They have a few other ones I'll try in the VERY near future like the steak and egg adn the tripleta that I keep reading about. They have a few seafood (shrimp, steak and shrimp or fried fish) versions as well. The service was just right. They do make the sandwiches to order, but it was only about a 10 minute wait. I highly recommend making it here if you're in the area and want a no BS legit sandwich for under $6.

marcos r.

Yelp
Okay, this is the spot with the best sandwiches period. They have the best Cuban sandwiches and the best tripletas (a Puerto Rican Sandwich for those gringos out there) anywhere in Philly hands down.
