El Riad Andaluz is an interesting place to stay in central Málaga, in one of the oldest parts of town, situated in a quiet pedestrian (cobbled) street, 5 minutes walk from Plaza de la Merced (a main city square), with its restaurants and tapas bars, Picasso's birthplace museum and lifelike statue. The guest house is typically Andalucian, with a central courtyard filled with large terracotta pots of plants, tiled floors and surrounds, Moroccan style ornaments, lamps, wrought iron decoration etc. The rooms are all in keeping, surrounding the courtyard on the first floor (up steep stairs - so not suitable for people with limited ability). The rooms are small with divider walls between bed and shower, each decorated in different rich and vibrant colours, with hooks and rails for clothes etc. and - a plus - good lighting for reading. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard adding a delightful asset. ||||Gerald, the proprietor, is very nice and helpful, with maps and suggestions for restaurants, museums, places to have breakfast etc. The courtyard has tiled tables and wrought iron chairs for relaxation, and there is free coffee and tea available whenever you want it. The code button entrance ensures safety and security, another plus in the city.||||Altogether, a good place to stay and ideal for exploring the city.
