El Sibarita

Wow. What a magnificent restaurant offering a wide selection of Mexican traditional dishes in a beautiful setting overlooking the town below and the beautiful Tepozteco mountain range. Indoor and alfresco dining. The restaurant is located inside a 25 room hotel which is very suitable for weddings and conferences.

The views are incredible and the service is very good. However, the cecina (local favorite cut of meat) and black beans on my plate were not even warm. They did put the steak back on the grill, but considering I’ve had way better food in mexico for half the price, I will not return. The man seated at a table next to us had the same problem with the dishes he ordered being cold and left the restaurant. Would be great for a cocktail at sunset. The grounds and lily pad pond were beautiful.

I would like to start by saying that most of the pictures shown on this review and others do not do this place justice. The views of the Tepozteco and the town are amazing. It is hard to capture the atmosphere of this place through pictures. We made a reservation here to celebrate our 15 yr anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. They recognized that we were there to celebrate a special occasion by sitting us at a table with an awesome view, possibly the best table at the restaurant. Our waiter Chris was so nice, he even kindly obliged when we asked him to be our photographer. The food itself was delicious and very reasonably priced. The courses were timed so that we would enjoy each course without feeling rushed. For dessert, they brought us out our flan with a congratulatory message on the plate. This place is a must try if you come to Tepoztlan for a special occasion or simply to enjoy some great food and great views.

One of the best meals we had in our trip to Mexico. The staff is friendly, the food is good and the place is amazing, with an incredible view of the city. Highly recommended.

Average food, great views and nice service. The breakfast buffet has lost quality, but the nice staff and the amazing views makes this place still enjoyable. Hope they can get improvings in the kitchen.

There seems to be the impression that this place relies solely on their atmosphere to draw in business. However, the food is AMAZING as well. It certainly isn't the cheapest option, but between the quality of food, quality of service, and the utterly unbeatable atmosphere and view, this will be among the meals of a lifetime.
